Driving charges, including no seat belts/car seats are almost always going to a traffic type fine - unless the adult was driving under the influence, evading a cop, that sort of thing. I’ve never heard of an endangerment charge just for the kid not being restrained (former social worker / California, so don’t know about Arkansas, but I’d be very surprised - unless she was driving with a baby on her lap, smoking a joint )

That’s the interesting part —- none of Jana’s siblings are young enough that “wandering off the property” should be an issue. Or really much of anything that a child endangerment citation would involve. Maybe she had some of the tweens use really dangerous power tools and they got injured? Or she bought them some alcohol? Otherwise it must be the littler nieces/ nephews. And as others have said - if a kid just wanders off - generally people do a frantic search and that’s it.

1.  This is one of my paranoias.  My oldest was always a rebel obsessed with unlocking child locks, and I slept with one eye open for years. My youngest is non-verbal with several handicaps- I'm haunted that she won't be able to ask for help if she gets lost.  

2.  In my area, unless the guardian was seriously negligent (sleeping with an open door, for example), usually it's only a warning from the police. (not excusing the behavior, just extremely curious as to what happened). If not for WOACB, I would assume a kid not buckled into a car seat.

ETA: I wrote the above before WAOCB was back tracking.  I'm guessing car seat offense.  Just a guess though.

Yea, but STILL, I know it’s just a citation, for a low-key charge - being negligent, not intentional, but it’s my impression that’s it’s actually pretty damn hard to get a child endangerment charge.  And almost always involving a parent under the influence. Otherwise it falls into the “damn, some little kids are seriously good at getting into mischief” My semi-educated hunch, given their circumstances, is having too young a kid helper, help her with something too dangerous. But even then — that would almost always be a warning .

Regardless, a child endangerment police charge here is generally an automatic CPS referral. Don’t know about their system.

BlackberryKid1 was a runner. She also had what we would have called Asperger’s, (but no longer do) one day when she was just a bit over 2, the little boy I was watching opened the front door while I was going to the bathroom. BBK1 slipped out the door and was missing for at least 2 hours. Police from 2 cities were looking for her including BBB who was on the force at the time. Luckily she was found by a pleasant, concerned older woman. The lady said she found her just a few feet from The Edens expressway. She grabbed her up and put her in her car and was heading to her house when she flagged down a policeman.

nothing was ever said about it. We made sure all doors were locked by deadbolt.

Like me, she was lucky to have been found by a good person before something tragic could have happened.

Daycares have limits on number of kids per adult. I imagine there are times Jana (or other fundies) go way over that limit.

The Duggars’ entire home, at times , was over the limit. Think of all the years she had kids back to back: Jana, John, Jill, Jessa, Jinger and Joe- (1990-1995) 6 kids in 5 years. Jessa, Jinger and Joe literally each 13 months apart. Then Josiah, Joy and J boy twins. (96-98) 4 kids in 2 years and 4 months time. Jenny, JGM and Josie (07-09) 3 kids in 2 years and 4 months time. This is insane, irresponsible reproduction. Between the crazy rules, poor parental role modeling, isolation, lack of a true education, and irresponsible breeding all of those kids have a reason to be a bit odd.

She is nuts and unreliable, but the charges are legit. The info is online and the charges were confirmed by the court clerk. Her ‘source’ provided very unsavory but also unverifiable details…I won’t repeat them here since KJ deleted them.

I looked up the address on the citation. According to google maps, they aren't on some sleepy country lane like the one I found the toddler on that day. It is a shoulderless, paved, striped road, and around here, anyway, people drive like bats out of hell on those sorts of roads. I don't expect people in Arkansas drive any differently. (If it was indeed of very young children found playing on the road.) 

I absolutely think that the additional stress of Josh being under indictment probably led to even more chaotic conditions than usual in the main house and the warehouse. As someone said earlier: "If everyone is responsible for watching the children, then no one is responsible for watching the children."

When did Josiah and Lauren begin deleting photos? Have we seen JoKen at the Big House recently? It makes sense that it may have been an M, while Anna was being joyfully available to Smuggar...perhaps whomever found the kids reported. But maybe it was another niece/nephew, and the parents reported. That's a super long shot, though...
