  1. The Quiverful of Duggars sub-forum has their own rundown of Duggar wedding dresses, so now with Tori Bates getting married, we obviously need a thread dedicated to dresses. Post your rankings! Here's mine, from best to least: 1. Tori (Bates) Smith Without question, the most sophisticated dress and despite some iffy modifications, overall beautiful. Extra points for the long train, classy updo, nice shoes, being adventurous enough to choose a champagne underlay, a fitted lace bodice with some sparkle, and even going for a bit of a sexier look. Could be perfect if fitted better on the waist and possibly didn't have the shear sleeves but just the lace cap sleeves, since there's already a lot going on. Her whole winter theme came together well, so this is easily my personal favorite Bates wedding. 2. Alyssa (Bates) Webster Kudos to Alyssa for going for a well-fitted trumpet style, it looked great on her and fit her personality. Extra points for the bright pink shoes and manila veil. Points taken away for the awkward flower on the waist, the earrings that do not fit the look, and the weird thick strap/cap sleeve since we all know Alyssa was itching to ditch the modesty standards the second she got to Florida. The Barbie pink and blue colors are not for me, but are fitting for her age, personality, and time of year. 3. Whitney (Perkins) Bates I personally don't like Whitney's dress at all, but at least it fit her well and she went for a cute bolero instead of some dumb modesty modification. I also don't like the gathered-to-the-side style but again, that's just me. Can you imagine her look though if she hadn't been trying her best to be "modest" to impress her new fundie in-laws, had already gone to a few other fundie weddings like Jessa and Jinger's, and had come into the awesome sense of style and beautiful hair she has now? I think she would have looked great in Jessa's dress and a nice updo instead of the over-geled bangs and slightly crunchy waves. Bonus points for this sassy pose though, showing us that jeans and a career in real estate would eventually be in her future even if she had to hide her leggings in her honeymoon pics: 4. Erin (Bates) Paine I actually thought Erin looked really cute overall and it helps that she's just such a beautiful girl that she'd make any dress look okay, even though she was a victim of the fundie-modesty-frankenstein-t-shirt-dress trend. The dress fit her bodice well, the princess style suited her personality perfectly, there was just enough sparkle, but I just can't get past that awful modesty panel on the front and dumb sleeves. Can you imagine what her wedding would have looked like in 2017 once the Bates had more money from their show and fundies were finding designers like Ms. Renee? Extra points for great hair though and without question the hottest fundie husband: 5. Michael (Bates) Keilen Poor Michael, she seems like such a nice person but her dress was Rufus-awful and I can't even start on the hair. Her dress is the worst example of modesty-frankenstein alterations, with that horrible ruched front and badly done sleeves, and just generally not form-fitting in any way. As a fellow short girl, she either should have skipped the A-line style for something more fitted at the hips (a sheath, trumpet, or mermaid) or worn heels - it doesn't help that the way it was hemmed made it too long. The only nice thing I can say is I liked the cherry blossom/rustic theme including the pink and beige bridesmaid dresses since it fit their relationship history. Even worse that in the BuB episode we saw 2 dresses that looked SO much better on her. Look at that first one, and even her hair just down like that, she would have looked gorgeous! And just for fun, here's Kelly Jo and a porno-stached Gil:

  4. I know that Zach met Whitney when she was working at a fast food place, and she clearly wasn't raised ATI like he was and that she basically converted to his beliefs and lifestyle when they started "courting" and married. They've seen had a child and I can't help but wonder... Will Whitney stick with the program do you think? I mean, the Bates (like the Duggars) have some pretty rigid ideas about what they see as appropriate and inappropriate, ie: convincing Whitney not to wear pants for instance and all the courting rules, and the whole "leaving it up to God" as to how many kids they have, not to mention the complete subservience of the wife to her Godly "head", ie: husband. I can see how, if you meet someone and are really attracted to them, that you might be willing to change; and I don't know what Whitney's background is, but if she's from a troubled home, for instance, the idea of a big and loving family to feel a part of, might make it all even more appealing...as long as she follows the rules. Now maybe she has bought into it all completely and is 100% onboard and ready for the busload of kids and no bathing suits for the rest of her life, but I have to wonder if the appeal will lessen as her stress with having kids and having to stay within such rigid guidelines (as written by the Bates and ATI) will wear her down and make her previous freedoms seem better than she realized. Often having children of your own makes you want to go and do things with them that you did as a child and had fun doing as a kid, but I could see that conflicting with a lot of the Bates' belief system. I heard that she and Zach kissed before marriage and she bent over backwards apologising for doing so to Gil and Kelly (despite it supposedly being THEIR courting rules that THEY (Whit and Zach) decided on). Apparently Whitney even went so far as to agree that it was not only wrong, but that she would no encourage it to anyone. It sounds like they are so scared to live their lives deviating from the ATI/Bates rules. Maybe if they lived farther away, they could kind of relax and blend a bit more of a light fundy lifestyle with some stuff she grew up with. Alyssa is apparently wearing pants, so anything is possible! I just wonder...if Alyssa lived closer to home, would she still feel okay wearing pants? Is it only because she's far enough away now that she feels free to test a few things out for herself? But back to Whitney...do you think she's bought into it all hook, line and sinker? Was she religious before marrying Zach? Does anyone know her background? Is she told Zach she couldn't handle those rules any longer and wanted to loosen things up, do you think he'd go along with her against his parents?
  5. Zach Bates is supposed to have asked to court Jana prior to meeting his wife, Whitney. I'm guessing this was after his first courtship ended. Radar says Jana and Zach went on some chaperoned outings and he asked JB for permission to court Jana. Jana, however, was not interested in Zach and told her father no. Zach must have met Whitney soon after this. Jana still has not found a man who interests her. I keep wondering if she actually does want to marry, or if she really is fine with staying single. Remaining single means her days of rearing children are numbered. Josie is five now, so in another few years Jana will be done. I recall JB and Michelle saying that by age 12 their children should be "finished" and able to act responsibly on their own. Of course, that still doesn't mean any of the children are ever treated as adults, no matter their ages, but by 12 the work of instilling values in the children should be done.
  6. Zach and Whitney's baby boy is due in October. I don't remember exactly when, but the date 10/8 sticks out in my mind. I know they've named the little dude as well. Is it Bradley?? I'm guessing he'll come on 10/10, home birth that is relatively easy, will be 8#6oz, 19.5".
  7. http://lh5.ggpht.com/-4kJNfGvWQQI/UrUGyxCU_3I/AAAAAAAAAp4/OA-fJ4Bm-2k/s1600/20131220_113052-1.jpg So I registered an account JUST to post this. On Zach's photos he posts on his blog, when his new bride's defraudulent boobs are touching him...he's usually wearing a NIKE! shirt. I mean, really. What are the odds? It's like they want us to have grist for the FJ mill. (And this is not a fluke- there are lots more like this)
  8. I just thought I would make a new thread about this so it doesn't get buried in the Zach Bates for Mayor thread. Props to anti-antichoice for seeing the comment!
  9. There has been no further mention of Whitney Bates possibly being pregnang, since Erins' miscarriage was announced. Is the general concensus that Whit was, in fact, not pregnant? Or that she really is, but is having to keep it under wraps in order not to cause Erin more pain? Either way there has to be some sadness there.
  10. I gather this wedding has already happened, and we're just Monday morning quarterbacking it. Part 1 here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19921 Could someone with actual knowledge of this event post a quick summary, please?
  11. I think its time for a new thread. If any one can come up with a better name for it, please do! My predictions: 1. Gothard will not attend. 2. Entire Duggar clan may not attend, either. Perhaps only a vanful of the older kids? And Josh & Anna drive down from Maryland--in matching togs again. 3. Whit won't have a modesty panel sewn into her dress. 4. If the Duggars do attend, they will not perform. 5. Erin will play piano, however. 6. Alyssa will be courting by then. 7. Michael(a) will be a bridesmaid
  12. Is he from a family that "we know?" Could he be a potential match for Jana? I googled him and I found a 26 year old-fiddler from TN by that name but I can't tell by the pics if it's the same guy.
  13. So in the comments section, people have been asking Kelly about Zach and Whitney, which she responded back with "That's the topic of my next post". Well, a little research and I happened to stumble upon their possible wedding registry. It looks like they're getting married December 14th of this year. I don't get why her name already says "Bates"..did they already sign the marriage certificate? Oh well, we'll see whenever Kelly posts an update on them. http://registry.theknot.com/weddingregi ... Name=Owens Not breaking link since it's the wedding registry.
  14. I'm sorry if someone already posted on this (I searched the forum but couldn't find anything). Anyways, I saw this comment from Kelly on their "Friends n' Fellowship" blog post: Kelly July 10, 2013 at 6:04 pm Dear Alexia, Yes, Erin and Chad are courting! And…..a new post coming soon about another recent courtship beginning! Love, Kelly I wonder who it is??
