  • FOCUSING ON THE FLAWS OF FUNDAMENTALISM SINCE 2005

"Childbearing. Child rearing. Gender equality. Religion. Race. Regionalism. A woman's right to her body. Money/welfare. My god, everything my mama and Miss Manners ever said NOT to talk about among strangers!!"

Free Jinger is a free speech zone.  We do not allow hate speech and we limit direct discussion of children. If you don't like what someone is saying, challenge them. Logic and reason are prized here, as well as thoughtful debate. Be prepared to don your asbestos underoos, though.

If you are not okay with these topics, just leave. They are the point of this board.

Or, as one of our members said: "What is discussed in this forum is Supreme Court stuff--literally--...the venting might be ranting. No grammar police, no fully enforced punctuation rules, but please don't wade in if things religious and reproductive will harm your psyche, because this should be a safe place to marvel at the massive political and social movements about to overtake our nation. And recipes."

    You have been warned. Welcome!

Private languages like that are called idioglossia. It's most common in twins (which is called cryptophasia).  https://www.mnn.com/family/babies-pregnancy/stories/secret-language-cryptophasia https://slate.com/human-interest/2011/08/cryptophasia-the-secrets-of-twin-speak.html

I want to thank both of you for making me appreciate my sister who doesn't speak to me - who I had to hunt down when my mom began failing and who let me shoulder the whole 4-5 year journey of my mom's dementia and associated care etc alone.

Hugs to all with wonky family issues.

Thank you. Sending lots of strength your way! You're free to PM me if you need to rant. I'm currently in the process of learning to simply grey rock her. It's insane how everything has to be about them - even events that are far from belonging to them. I've already made a decision about my possible future wedding. I will not allow any surprise speeches. Before the wedding, we'll ask and choose certain people that we'd like to speak. That'll shut her the hell up.

My younger sister is a Narcsister. I know exactly how you feel. I haven't spoken to her for almost a year since she made my Mums funeral all about her and upset my Dad.  It's very difficult having to say nothing just to keep the peace. I've done it for a good 20 years or so. No more. A great weight has lifted off my shoulders.  I'm rooting for you.

I’m so glad he’s safe. Not having pets I really love all of yours from afar...especially the ones we’ve known since babies. Rowena is damn precious. In addition to the mug she has cute toes. I’ve noticed the markings in the last few pics. And welcome Mina! She looks like a lively addition. Fab ears!
