Bates 23: Waiting on the Next Wedding

I kind of assume that the Bates girls will mostly be dating guys who are in their extended family. Not directly related. But the friends or brothers of their brothers or brothers in law. Because those are the single guys they are interacting with the most.

Katie posted this pic on her insta stories. She tagged a different guy from the on on the pic with Trace (that guy’s name is Logan),so honestly, who knows what’s going on with her. I do think she’ll court super young though.

I’m not sure but only one Bates son has been married. Not all fundie girls include all their brothers as groomsmen. If Lawson got married I’m sure Nathan would be a groomsman. And if Trace got married, Nathan would probably be included as well.

Found one! He was in Alyssa’s. It seems like Lawson and Trace have been in a few together and Nathan was skipped.

Was flipping though Amazon Prime and what to  my wonderous eyes should appear but  TLC's United Bates of America. Watched the episode where the fam goes to Big Sandy and I caught a glrimpse of Gothard  (made me sick) , the Peacon Theif, Chad Paine,  meeshelle & the boob &  various duggarlings.   

The scrunched up permed hair, loooong skirts & baggy tops on the girls and Michaella & the J'slaves  raisining their parents children really stood out.  What really annoyed me  (next to seeing a glimpse of Gothard)  was that all  the activites segregated by gender.  What if a girl wanted to repel down the fire tower or a boy wanted to learn to sew ?   Segratation of activies by gender is NOT in the Bible.

I feel like this should be required viewing for everyone here. It’s a fantastic reminder of what the Bateses actually believe versus how UP depicts them on their new show. TLC sucks in many ways, but at least they were good at failing to normalize the Duggars and Bateses.

oh my gosh I just found these last week, actually, and it's such a stark difference between the old content and BuB. And TLC didn't really do them any favors either with the Duggar-ish line of questioning of "who runs the house"/who's in charge when mom and the older girls aren't at home"/"how disciplined are the children"/etc crap....

though, of note, even in UBoA, little Katie said she wanted to be a nurse - so if she's felt "called" that way since childhood maybe it'll actually be a reality that she pursues.

Other than the 4 oldest girls, seems like a fairly even distribution of participation in weddings.

Though now you've got the grandchildren/nieces/nephews to consider for future weddings also.

yep, and the facebook live was also boring. Only thing of interest was Josie again joking that Lawson and Nathan cant keep the girls. Gil says they are just so busy with the music and the flying. I find it interesting that they never mention Trace although as far as we know he is also single, and he is older that Carlin and Josie who are courting. So i wouldnt be surprised if Trace ends courting before his older brothers.

Are Josie and Kelton officially courting yet? I can’t keep up with those relationship levels.

I don’t see Trace courting. The Bates’ seem to value some sort of job education/qualification prior to marriage nowadays. At least for the girls and their parents- isn’t that one of the reasons we be believe they are put the brakes on CarVan? Trace’s only job is the tree business, the trick riding is more of a hobby isn’t it? But maybe I am wrong. With only Zach to compare it is hard to detect a pattern.

But it could also be some absolutely boring „news“. Didn’t they make a special  announcement about G&K’s wedding anniversary at on point?

Yes, Josie and Kelton are official courting (as of January 24).

It could be a Whitney pregnancy but it could just as easily be Tori (and who knows, Michael might have gotten a miracle pregnancy). Or an engagement announcement. Or something totally boring.

Tori is pregnant. Or they've renewed BUB for another year and that's the announcement.  I think Whitney isn't pregnant.  Possibly Josie and Kelton are engaged.  I don't think CarVan is engaged yet. I don't think she could restrain herself from announcing. Maybe Lawson is dropping another album.  Michael could be pregnant but I think that's wishful thinking.

looks like next week is going to be one of those old-footage-clip conglomerations (i'm guessing the same "Mother's Day" bs from last year only with new clips), and the week after that'll be a wedding-themed clip conglomeration. so the "special announcement" is definitely someone being pregnant or engaged. My bet is Tori is preggo.
