The lining of that dress? Top? Is the same material that many hospital patient gowns are made of, or it looks exactly like it.

I can totally think of people who would be into these cards, if for no other reason than it plays into their conservative Christian persecution porn.  They can discretely [smugly?] carry these cards in places where having a visible bible is [purportedly] illegal, like public school or the workplace. Or if they’re at risk of having their bible jacked on the NYC subway.
It’s like concealed carry, for when even a miniature bible is too risky or bulky to keep in your pocket.

For the record, it is not illegal to have a visible bible in a public school. Teachers just aren’t supposed to indoctrinate students with their personal religion.

Ditto the workplace.  As long as you're not creating a hostile work environment with your religion there is no rule against having the bible or any other religious texts in the workplace.  People bring books to read on break or over lunch all the time.

I know. I was referring to the falsehood perpetuated by the conservative fundie crowd that it is “illegal” to have a bible in school, etc.

I have heard homeschooled fundies say stuff like that. It just shows they have no clue what actually happens in public schools.

There was an old ad with Mel Gibson from the early 90s that this reminds me of. It was to prevent the FDA from regulating vitamins and supplements and showed a swat team breaking into a house and cornering him while he's opening a bottle of medication. "Guys, it's vitamin c - like in oranges".

Crazy hyperbole. "Guys, it's my bible. You know, God's word?"

I had a government client whose office was in a Federal building. He not only had two Bibles and a Calvary statuette on his desk, he had a poster of the Ten Commandments on the wall. He also hosted an optional Bible study.

(Did my clueless teammate take the hint not to say "Jesus Christ" as an expletive in front of said client? No. No he did not.)

Some of us oldsters remember Rush Limbaugh lamenting the poor little girl in Texas who was persecuted for having a bible, or said she liked the bible, or something. nobody could ever find her.

My dad watched Rush when I was a kid in the 90s. I could tell even as a kid he was loud blow hard.

I know we've talked about the possible issues between Carlin and Erin, but I am just as intrigued by how close Erin and Josie have gotten. Neither of them was a bridesmaid for the other, there is a big age gap, but in the several months they have been interacting online and obviously spending a lot of time together.

I wonder if they bonded after Josie's miscarriage and then her difficult pregnancy with Hazel.

Interacting online is different from being "close." I wonder sometimes if the Bates come here and laugh at the inferences people make.

Michael’s latest post shows she spends a lot of time with the nieces and nephews. I wonder how much she babysits. She had pictures with Tori’s, Erin’s, Carlin’s and Josie’s kids.

Jackson and Alyssa have now posted pictures with Finley. At this point, it is pretty much just Carlin and Whitney who haven't (and Katie and Nathan,.who have also been out of state).

Also Erin brought baby Finley to the Couple's dinner, probably because she is nursing.

She may say she wants to care for her grandparents and volunteer, but once she finished her studies, she's  babysitting. I don't think she's forced to do it. She probably enjoys it.

I was scrolling down my YouTube homepage on my iPad when I noticed a video by the Paineses on there. Something about Bible study with five kids. I don’t know why it popped up, I’ve not watched anything of theirs. I haven’t watched anything fundie related recently either. I’ve watched a few episodes of 19 KaC and similar, but that was years ago. Rather odd!!

I think she does too. She is always beaming in the pictures with the kids. She made a post about borrowing Josie's kids to take them to the zoo. I think she genuinely loves being with kids and doing stuff with them and since she doesn't have her own, she spends a ton of time with the nieces and nephews.

Who could force her to do it, anyway? Only Brandon, and why would he care?

Erin has a new reel of Chad and the kids chasing the pigs around the yard and I had two thoughts 1) so relatable. My extended family owned a pig farm when I was a child Nd I removed chasing after escaped pigs. They can really run and they are hard to catch. And B) I know content is part of their lives, but I can only think how annoyed my dad and uncle would have been if someone just stood there and filmed instead of helping (but yes I get that it is part of their livelihood) and I felt a bit bad for Chad.

My first thought was how different the lives of the Paine kids are vs the Webster girls.

My hope is that all the kids born to the 19 Bateses have very different lives between the cousins. The more different they are from their own upbringing, the better. And then each of those kids can be exposed to other types of lives amongst their cousins. It would be great if some of the kids got to go to public or Christian school and see that their cousins aren’t going straight to hell. They can see cousins playing in organized sports and enjoying themselves. They can see their cousins wearing regular bathing suits and fully mainstream clothing without them producing animal lust from males.

So very different. The Webster children make me a little sad. They seem so trained.

@CanadianMamam - being so recently postpartum she probably wouldn't have joined in, even if she wasn't filming.  Might as well make some money off it, I suppose.

I'm never going to chase a pig because I'm fat, out of shape, and just generally clumsy as hell.  I would straight up consider murder if anyone filmed me attempting it.

Yeah, I agree it is good Erin wasn't catching it, I was just amused by the video and trying to imagine my uncle's face if someone had tried to film him in that position.

I haven't had to chase a pig in almost 30 years. I doubt it would go well if I tried.

I never noticed that rushing creek right beyond their yard. I hope they always watch those kids when are playing in the yard. 5 little kids and a creek that abuts their main, unfenced, play area, yikes. This is an accident waiting to happen.
