  1. The Quiverful of Duggars sub-forum has their own rundown of Duggar wedding dresses, so now with Tori Bates getting married, we obviously need a thread dedicated to dresses. Post your rankings! Here's mine, from best to least: 1. Tori (Bates) Smith Without question, the most sophisticated dress and despite some iffy modifications, overall beautiful. Extra points for the long train, classy updo, nice shoes, being adventurous enough to choose a champagne underlay, a fitted lace bodice with some sparkle, and even going for a bit of a sexier look. Could be perfect if fitted better on the waist and possibly didn't have the shear sleeves but just the lace cap sleeves, since there's already a lot going on. Her whole winter theme came together well, so this is easily my personal favorite Bates wedding. 2. Alyssa (Bates) Webster Kudos to Alyssa for going for a well-fitted trumpet style, it looked great on her and fit her personality. Extra points for the bright pink shoes and manila veil. Points taken away for the awkward flower on the waist, the earrings that do not fit the look, and the weird thick strap/cap sleeve since we all know Alyssa was itching to ditch the modesty standards the second she got to Florida. The Barbie pink and blue colors are not for me, but are fitting for her age, personality, and time of year. 3. Whitney (Perkins) Bates I personally don't like Whitney's dress at all, but at least it fit her well and she went for a cute bolero instead of some dumb modesty modification. I also don't like the gathered-to-the-side style but again, that's just me. Can you imagine her look though if she hadn't been trying her best to be "modest" to impress her new fundie in-laws, had already gone to a few other fundie weddings like Jessa and Jinger's, and had come into the awesome sense of style and beautiful hair she has now? I think she would have looked great in Jessa's dress and a nice updo instead of the over-geled bangs and slightly crunchy waves. Bonus points for this sassy pose though, showing us that jeans and a career in real estate would eventually be in her future even if she had to hide her leggings in her honeymoon pics: 4. Erin (Bates) Paine I actually thought Erin looked really cute overall and it helps that she's just such a beautiful girl that she'd make any dress look okay, even though she was a victim of the fundie-modesty-frankenstein-t-shirt-dress trend. The dress fit her bodice well, the princess style suited her personality perfectly, there was just enough sparkle, but I just can't get past that awful modesty panel on the front and dumb sleeves. Can you imagine what her wedding would have looked like in 2017 once the Bates had more money from their show and fundies were finding designers like Ms. Renee? Extra points for great hair though and without question the hottest fundie husband: 5. Michael (Bates) Keilen Poor Michael, she seems like such a nice person but her dress was Rufus-awful and I can't even start on the hair. Her dress is the worst example of modesty-frankenstein alterations, with that horrible ruched front and badly done sleeves, and just generally not form-fitting in any way. As a fellow short girl, she either should have skipped the A-line style for something more fitted at the hips (a sheath, trumpet, or mermaid) or worn heels - it doesn't help that the way it was hemmed made it too long. The only nice thing I can say is I liked the cherry blossom/rustic theme including the pink and beige bridesmaid dresses since it fit their relationship history. Even worse that in the BuB episode we saw 2 dresses that looked SO much better on her. Look at that first one, and even her hair just down like that, she would have looked gorgeous! And just for fun, here's Kelly Jo and a porno-stached Gil:
  2. Erin and Chad had some bad news on the fertility front. I am not sad. Not really. I mean, she has healthy kids and why not focus on the ones alive rather than worry about making more? Right? And she may have had COVID TWICE, or had it once and it never went away. Because the Bates are awful people and exactly what is wrong with America in 2021 in one giant shiny pretty package.
  3. continued from here... thanks @catlady for the thread title.
  4. Continued from here: Thanks to @Ivycoveredtowerfor posting this photo of the family with new baby: According to the article in Us Magazine, Everly Hope was born on 30th March (which makes her about 48 hours younger than Alyssa’s baby, Zoey), weighing 5lb 4oz and 18” long.
  5. Last thread here: Chad and Erin have goats now. Chad is still a fundie handyman, Erin still gushes about her family on Instagram (even when her son spits in her face LOL), and there's speculation that she may be pregnant again. Carry on, folks!
  6. I know her due date is at the end of next month but with Carson she not only went 4 weeks early but they were going to induce around that time any way. So I'm thinking it's time for a Erin Paine birthing thread. On a related note, I've been wondering if they have been purposefully drawing out this season to allow for birthing VSEs for the two babies.
  7. She's very skilled, but does her flowery, trilly, overdone piano style start to get on anyone else's nerves? Like she has to jam in as many impressive, super-fast, heavy-handed runs as possible into every song, ruining the entire melody in the process. Even the wedding march she played at Jill Duggar's wedding was thundering and lacked finesse. *to the tune of wedding march* IT IS YOUR DAY/ YOUR WED-DING DAAAY/ BOOM BOOM BA-BOOM BOOOM THUNDER AND LIGHT-NIIING...
  8. http://www.people.com/people/article/0, ... 99,00.html Wasn't this quite early??
  9. Starting this thread here so that the general Bates thread can still be used for general Bates discussion. I always find it hard to have other discussions in general threads when everyone is talking about a big announcement. Snark/Speculate away!
  10. ..... Has been painted dark green. R.I.P. Pink Room!
  11. Why does she talk like a 12 year old? I know she went to college and was crazy sheltered, but damn. She must've experienced some serious development stunting, none of the other bates kids seem like that.

    NFP for the daughters?

First time poster I know that Erin Paine suffered a miscarriage at the beginning of the year, but since then we have not had any Bates Baby announcements. Alyssa has been married since what? May? and Erin now a year. Do you think either of them are using NFP or did they just not inherit their mother's super fertility? I don't remember either of them saying they would leave their family size up to God like the Duggar children have.

    Bates girl on the piano

I know it has been mentioned that the Bates girl on the piano at Jill's wedding was irritating or pounding but I honestly felt that it was inspired and passionate....the only thing unboring about the wedding. It wasn't mentioned from what I recall that she would be playing at the wedding and there were no comments in the TH on the show about it. I'd love to be at a wedding where the pianist was playing like that, I have never seen anything like that at a wedding before. It is sort of amazing and inspiring that a sort of backwoods/homeschooly kid can play like that. I know a lot of them play instruments but I haven't seen anyone out of the ordinary or impressive like her.
  14. One thing I noticed watching Erin Bates wedding was this whole thing about how romantic the courtship and engagement was, and then how much like a fairytale the wedding was, and with the whole not-kissing until they are married it all plays into this sort of fairytale story of waiting for The One. But it made me wonder if the sheltering and protecting (from the real world and dating) of these girls doesn't make it more of a shock when reality hits later after the wedding. They talk about how their courtship allows them to become best friends and really get to know each other, but I don't think they really do. They are so on their best behaviour, so to speak, and always chaperoned and being careful not to touch. I think the guys get swept up into all the attention and fairytale aspect of the whole experience as much as the girls, but then what happens after the novelty wears off, or a few babies come along and money is tight and they are so young and stunted emotionally and with regards to life in general. Even Michelle admitted to losing it when the kids were young. But I think there will be even more pressure to be blissful mothers who have it all *joyfully* under control due to the Duggars expectations and the show's image. Just trying to imagine the pressure they would feel to be the perfect wife and mother (and the perfect father, husband and provider for a quickly growing family). I think of Ben and Jessa and they are so young and seem so unrealistic and unprepared in so many ways. Sure they love the fairytale they are featured players in right now, but what will happen later? Who do you think will crack? Anna? Jessa? How many kids in?
  15. In case any of you are interested, Chad posted on his blog about Erin's graduation. It looks like she'll continue teaching even though she's all married up now!

    Erin miscarried

Chad put up a post about it. I feel so sorry for them, miscarriages suck!
  17. Part 1 is here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19718 From what I gather, the discussion is currently about modest wedding dresses. And… go!

    House of Paine

Latest post on Chad's blog: chadsperspective.blogspot.ca/ He gives us a tour of their house. Or should I say, Erin's house, because she seems to be in charge of the decor. Just take a look at that master bedroom. There are truly no words. If their marriage is having issues I think the bedroom might be part of the problem... and that's not a euphemism.
  19. I came across this pic on the Living the Journey website. Erin looks so different without the hairdo! And Michael actually looks lovely in this pic (despite the teddy bear sweater ). Amazing how a small amount of spotlight changed the way they dressed... This picture is marked as 2009.
  20. Chad said they've been "busy" with school and such. I'm surprised Erin actually went back to school. I wonder who is her chaperon now that her buddy dropped out to plan her wedding.
  21. 4.bp.blogspot.com/-pV8vwQ6ro4o/UqX8JRdZw6I/AAAAAAAAGnY/bwmCDwnyXTA/s1600/us+at+Thanksgiving.JPG Posted on Chad's blog. They do look happy.
