Lori Alexander 74: Anniversary Pain

I've had to use more specialised toothpastes

I'll use whatever my dentist recommends if it will help me stay out of his chair, LOL.  I'm cheap too, but found Gum Detoxify at Sams. Plus, my hygeinist gave me a bunch of samples. I had terrible issues a couple of years ago (diabetes doesn't help), doing good now, so I'm religious about my routine. I do use a whitening toothpaste every now and then, as I will not give up coffee. Ever.

I brush my teeth with a mixture of salt and baking soda, at the recommendation of my hygienist. I wonder if that's organic enough for Lori. It's certainly cheap.

I also can't get my head around the toothpaste cost. I use crest so I googled the expensive brand I could think of - Tom's. On Amazon I could purchase 3 tubes of Tom's for $15 and that was for 3 tubes and Lori is spending $28 on one tube of toothpaste! DANG!

BTW - to compare, Her $28 would get me my discounted ski lift ticket with the school and I would have $6 left over to eat something at the ski hill.

I use Crest Gum Detoxify or Paradontax due to the gum issues I have had in the past that are under control now, thankfully. These brands are relatively expensive, but are no frickin' where near $28 a tube!  As with everything else, Lori's head is up her rear end about what most people pay for things and can afford to pay for things.

First of all, the link posted a few posts back shows that it's $28 for TWO.  Be fair, people! $14 is [slightly] less ridiculous. :my_tongue: /sarcasm

I admit I'm generally pretty eco-groovy with my hygiene choices, tooth and otherwise.  I buy organic, no-fluoride toothpaste.  But I have been diagnosed with bone loss in my jaw, and combined with genetically short roots on my front teeth, I am at risk of problems as I age.

So now, in addition to cleanings every three months, I also rinse every night with a fluoride rinse.  Because my desire to be eco-groovy does not override my trust in the advice of my hygienist and my desire to minimize tooth loss in the coming decades.

Just last week the hygienist told me something I didn't know or at least hadn't registered before.  She said the bristle action of brushing is less important than the impact of the foamy toothpaste against your teeth, and you're supposed to keep that foam in your mouth/against your teeth for two minutes!  So either hold it in your mouth (really hard to do!) or keep brushing for two full minutes.

I never would have done this before (and I had tried tooth powders etc that do not foam) but now with my future teeth at risk I'm on the program!

I hear ya! I've got diabetes as well, so I have to visit the dentist at least three times a year now (down from four since I've been doing much better in the flossing and water pik department :my_angel: ). But every now and then a crown breaks, or worse, a tooth full of fillings becomes too much to repair further, so I end up in the chair at least once or twice a year more than the minimum. My hygienist isn't as fussy about what toothpaste I use as she is about me getting in between the teeth with those tiny little brushes and the floss. I hate those little brushes, it's like the dental version of fingernails on a chalkboard! But they do help, so whatever it takes, right? :my_rolleyes:

Let's hear it for our pearly whites!  :my_biggrin: LOL

The hygienist at the office where my children go said that you shouldn’t rinse the toothpaste out of your mouth after brushing. I had never heard of that before and can’t bring myself to do that. But I also use mouthwash and she said that was ok.

She told me that too.  Including that most people aren't willing to do that.  To me it seems like you would want to rinse out your mouth from any food particles that got loosened during brushing, same as rinsing after flossing.

I think the fluoride rinse is supposed to be the next best thing to not rinsing after brushing.  You're not supposed to even drink water for 30 minutes after the fluoride rinse, so it gets to hang out on your teeth as long as possible.

Lori’s imagined Facebook deletion has certainly given her a lot of attention today.  I think this situation illustrates how she loses her head very easily. Most of us, upon receiving such an email would take a couple of minutes (really a couple of clicks) to see if it was legitimate, realized it was a scam and go on with our day.

Lori received the email and instantly assumed PERSECUTION!  I am fairly certain she posted her farewell to Facebook before looking into it. And when I say “looking into it,” of course I mean letting her husband take care of it. It is absolutely absurd to me that a grown woman has to have her husband contact Facebook for her.

I think there is a part of her that is disappointed it is a scam.  She was looking forward to all the praise she’d receive for being so godly that Facebook took her down, I think.

I use a toothpaste with aminfluorid, an organic fluorid compound instead of anorganic sodium fluorid. Thanks to being an organic compound (stricktly chemical speaking), it clings better to the teeth and is better absorbed by the teeth. I use the mouthwash too and it's a toothpaste for sensible gums, because brushing to hard with the wrong brush for years left my gums prone to bleeding. Curious as I am, I looked up what it would cost in the US, well if you want to buy it, you would pay almost the amount that Lori pays for her, but you can brack about to import your toothpaste from Germany, while I pay a measly 2,95 € for it :D

And of course, Lori's toothpaste is woo infected, there a no serious studies to proof that hydroxylapatit is usefull.

I get that kind of mails for different accounts all the time. I use some common sense, look at the e-mail address from where it's send and see it's scam. Because neither facebook nor amazon or netflix send me mails from russian word-salat mail adresses. She is so, so stupid.

She must be so disappointed that she can’t spin this for persecution points or as a post proving women are easily deceived. She had Ken look into it and even though he has a penis he was deceived too.

Maybe she needs to go brush her teeth with her expensive toothpaste a few times to try to figure out how to go viral with what happened.

I wonder if she provided any sensitive personal information in her "appeal."  Sucks to be her.  Lori thinks all women are easily deceived because SHE is easily deceived.

I'm sure Ken hopes to God that a Nigerian Prince never sends Lori an email. :pb_lol:

I also bet she thinks one of the "haters" targeted her specifically so she can continue to spin it as "PERSECUTION".  No, Lori, you aren't that special.  Regular people get scam emails all the time. It's totally random. Again, you aren't that special.

This morning:

My husband was able to reach a technician in India who works for Facebook. He barely spoke English. My husband wanted to find out if this email was a scam or legitimate. This man told Ken that Facebook never sends emails with links on them. We are hoping he was right.

Julie, calling Lori out:

Do you HAVE to put “he barely spoke English” part in there. It’s of absolutely no relevance to your topic.

Ellie:

... Of course she does. She is trying to take us back to the 1950s.. wouldnt be truly authentic without the casual racism thrown in there too!

Lori wrote an entire blog post this morning about her brush with disaster. I'm afraid she's going to milk this for far more than it's worth. We may never quite hear the end of it. :my_dodgy:

Mine too! It does 30 seconds times 4, so each section of teeth gets the right amount of time. I usually alternate between whatever variety of Colgate I happened to pick up, and a charcoal toothpaste. I can't use Crest or Aquafresh or most other toothpastes, they give me canker sores.

I also, while brushing, do lunge style hamstring stretches. It makes sure I get one full minute on each leg, with the added benefit of getting my head down closer to the sink. I've had early signs of plantar fasciitis, and this seems to help. Also it gets two boring tasks done at the same time.

We haven't had a Lori song in a while, and I feel one coming on.

Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up

(v1)

I'm no stranger to hate

You think you're right and so do I

I don't use facts but it's way too late

I'm gonna cater to some random stupid guy

i just need to tell you how I'm feeling

No hope of making you understand

(chorus)

Never Gonna Give You Up

Never gonna go offline

Never gonna turn around and be truthful

Never gonna say goodbye

Gonna persecution cry

Never gonna stop being so hurtful

(v2)

I have eight platforms that I use each day

My heart is hardened and I refuse to see it

Everybody out there knows what's going on

I know the game and I'm gonna play it

(chorus)

To be fair, based on Ken’s ramblings, he also barely speaks English. It WOULD be difficult to have a conversation in which neither party is well versed.

On another note, I have read Lori’s post a couple times because it is just so funny. The way she draws out this harrowing tale of being scammed and having her nearly illiterate husband rescue her....whew! It’s a real page turner.

I think in this case "barely spoke English" means "had a mild accent, which triggered racism-induced incomprehension".

That poor person from Russia who got into her page! They probably took one look, cringed, and figured she and her group didn't need anymore pro-Trump propaganda and no one would be able to tell if it was them posting or her. Then promptly texted their royal friend in Nigeria to give them her email address.

Probably.  I can't imagine Ken or Lori taking any time to try and understand an accent that is different from theirs.

This is fucking ridiculous.

Lori?  She probably didn't invite you because you are a mean, judgemental, backbiting, gossip.

Maybe she didn't want to be the object of one of your "lessons", or have you gossip about her and her friends to anyone who would listen.  Maybe she didn't want you taking over the party with your slimy cat food salad, or prattling on to her guests about modesty, submission, and your ENDLESS health issues.  Maybe she didn't want you watching what her guest ate, or making sure they "only ate their portion".  Maybe she didn't want you demanding things be done your way or else.  Remember that?  How you "always got your way"?  Yeah, people don't like that.  In fact, it's a recipe for not getting invited to parties.

And honestly?  She was probably appalled (and repulsed) that a grown ass woman would call crying and demanding an invitation to a birthday party.   I don't blame her at all.  I wouldn't have invited you either.

Also, I'm like 99% sure you're talking about one of your sisters, and I'm 100% sure that whichever family member you're vilifying, read all about it- after all, you've posted it 3 times now (blog, Facebook, and Instagram).   They get it, and you've just (once again) insured that because of your incessant need to gossip, they won't invite you to anything in the future.

Maybe I'm being too cynical, but do you think that she could have made-up the Facebook email story to elicit all the positive comments about how wonderful she is, how she is only preaching the truth, how she needs to continue, etc?  She doesn't appear to be very bright, but she does seem to be manipulative and devious.

This whole scam tells you a lot about Lori.  Without even researching the email she received, she wrote a desperate appeal to have her "ministry" remain up.  Even if FB was legitimately telling me that they were going to shut me down, I would just let them.  Believe it or not, Lori, you CAN survive without social media!

I think Lori's $28 toothpaste has replaced her $14 butter as the most ridiculous example of how out of touch she is with reality.

Now, now, @Loveday - it makes perfect mathematical sense that the toothpaste to clean off the $14 butter should cost exactly twice as much! Butter that expensive can't be taken off by just any toothpaste, y'know!

This guy has Lori pegged.  "Approval addiction" is the perfect diagnosis.  Lori thrives off all her fans telling her how amazing she is each and every day.  It's almost palpable how desperate she is for approval.

Lori is 5 years older than I am and has lived a charmed life. She looks like she's been rode hard and put up wet. Me, not so much.
