And one more Facebook post today from Examining Doug Wilson & Moscow, Idaho and he/she has a point:

Quote

Doug Wilson is openly engaged in the deviant sexual grooming of his followers.

He regularly references women’s breasts and uses derogatory and misogynistic language that degrades women, all while engaging in a form of sexual exhibitionism of his own before all the world to see.

It can be reasonably argued that this grooming he is engaged in is at a fairly advanced stage, evidenced by all the evil that he openly parades and defends while hordes of his followers argue on his behalf.

Pray for the women and children in Moscow.

Katie Botkin (the progressive Botkin cousin) when she was actively blogging/commenting on Doug Wilson and the CREC, noted that CREC boys/young men tended to be very sexually aggressive, whereas the guys she encountered who hadn't been raised in that toxic environment were not.

@Howl, NGL—if this movie were free I’d hate-watch the absolute fuck out of it!

Well, the trailer should be free, so there's that.

I actually checked the date on the Joseph Granda Facebook post announcing the film to make sure it wasn't April 1. It was posted at March 31 at 12:50 PM.

Signed on to Amazon Prime last night and was disgusted that Man Rampant was among the offerings.  And, to be honest, even more disgusted that I couldn't figure out how to leave a one star rating.

Aw, man. When I saw that it was on April 1, and I thought it was an April Fools’ Day joke. I can’t believe someone read that book and thought “you know, of all the stories to turn into a movie, this is definitely the one.”

Especially someone who says he moved to Colorado because decadant Hollywood didn't reflect his Christian values.

( He gets extra points for misspelling Canon Press.)

Perhaps I shouldn't snark on other people's spelling while misspelling decadent myself. Sorry, but not very.

I don't know any thing about Joesph Granda.

Does he make movies that are a Xtian - Hallmark mashup?

Here's his iMDB page:

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0512371/

The description of one of his films:

Quote

An aging military chaplain and a young girl from a broken home join forces to plant a miracle garden touched by God. The Healing Garden is a faith-based film, laced with warmth and comedy. It celebrates the healing of families and communities through faith.

I don't get how the comedy angle would work.

Ten bucks says this movie is going to be as porny as possible, and when people outside the Moscow enclave get uncomfortable the excuse will be “but it’s not a Christian book!”

I expect it’ll be  low rent effort to make a “Black Mirror” clone.

Just a reminder that Doug Wilson and Wilson adjacent leg humpers really are more misogynistic and toxic than you could ever imagine:

I've personally observed this, too.  To the point of other guys being asked to pull them aside to tell them to cut it out because they were making women uncomfortable with their behavior.  Very sexually forward with their girlfriends for conservative Christians too (though I've usually seen them find girlfriends who were also OK with it.... didn't tend to last if women were turned off by misogyny).

They're also typically jerks who engage in the same shifty wordplay that Doug does to avoid engaging in an honest conversation.  They're not generally liked outside of their own circles.

I also see IGTBAM being referenced.  Now that's a cesspool of disgusting patriarchal misogynistic tripe.  Bnonn Tennant was also excommunicated from his church.  Wilson and related apologists love to say that discussing problematic beliefs is slander and you should take things up with their churches.  Well, there's Tennant.  Excommunicated from his church and so he's gone around accusing his church of spiritual abuse and they're all backing him up still.  Not to mention the whole "got kicked out of one denomination so went and started a new one" trick that more than one of these guys has pulled.  But anything to say that the critics are sinning so that you don't have to deal with the criticism honestly.

First, IGTBAM = It's Good to be a Man

Good grief.  I just came across a blog that accuses Doug Wilson of being soft on patriarchy because

Quote

Wilson teaches his readers that a Christian man’s wife is a despot who can order her husband around like a kid. He routinely denounces the husband’s authority over his wife, even to the point of telling husbands that it’s wrong to tell her what to do just because he wants something done

Good grief.   There's more than one cesspool, but I think that this guy may be totally missing Doug Wilson's word-smithy sarcasm.

The blog is titled Full Metal Patriarch.  Why I’m Still Suspicious of the IGTBAM Project

White patriarchal assholes arguing about how many limp dicks will fit on the head of a pin.

Apparently it was founded by the guy who Tweeted this (under  spoiler).

Replete with Christian buzz word alliteration: "Lost, lonely, barren and bitter..."   and Oh. My. God. there are feminists and soy boys OUT THERE. Guess this  creepy chin beard ass hat has never heard of Christian Mingle.

Or Christian Tingle, which is satire (brutal satire, really) of purity culture, purity dating and purity marriage.  (You'll understand purity marriage after watching the video).

Oh, and blackface.  Somehow I forgot to mention the weird, menacing blackface clown which appears at the 00:16 mark.

I’m pretty sure this guy is a Wilson crony. Maybe he has his own Steven Stitler he needs to get married off.

i worry so much about the girls who are going to be signed up by their fathers or pastors.

Someone in a Twitter thread mentioned that Jesse Sumpter (he of the opening quote) is from Wilson's church.  I haven't investigated this, but his name sounds familiar to me.

I'm familiar with Toby Sumpter--the pastor of Trinity Reformed Church, a CREC "sister church" also in Moscow, ID.  There's a story about how that came about, but can't remember it at the moment.  Is Jesse Sumpter Toby's son?  He's deep into Christ Church and a this is about what you'd expect:

Ahhhhh! That's why his name was so familiar!  I remember being utterly disgusted by that Tweet for several days.

ETA: A few months removed, it's so rewarding to revisit that and see how thoroughly he was ratio'd. ?
