Carlin & Evan 10: Living in Their Own Instagram Sitcom

I did find interesting that in the house tour video Carlin said that this house is big enough they can raise all their kids here, it has 3 bedrooms but one of the 3 is rather small. I dont think you can fit more than 4 kids confortably in this house so hopefully this means they plan to have a "small" family.

I’m glad Carlin and Evan are in a neighborhood. When fundies raise their kids in rural places with neighbors that are sort of far, they are more isolationist in my opinion. If kids live in a rural area and go to school, it’s not a big deal since they see other kids at school. But if they live where there are few kids nearby and they homeschool, I think the parents isolate too much. Hopefully carlin and Evan allow the kids to make friends with some other neighborhood kids.

Carlin and Evan both seem to be very extroverted so I think there's a good chance they'll want to get to know the neighbors.  Hopefully, their fundie standards won't get in the way of their kids making friends nearby.

I have a feeling they won’t have a huge family. I just can’t imagine them having more than 4. They could fit 4 kids in there.

I caved and watched the walk thru. In addition to the 3 bedrooms there is actually a fair sized bonus room (looks like over the garage) that they're aiming to use half for a playroom and half for a family room.

Alyssa lives in a neighborhood and the girls don't have friends there. I even have my doubts that the girls really have church friends, because Alyssa never takes them to playdates and they rarely have other kids at home. Maybe they see their cousins on Sundays, when they visit senior Websters.

And well... Duggars lived in an average neighborhood for 15 years. Zsu did the same, and kids were isolated no matter what.

Alyssa did go trick or treating around her neighborhood with the girls. She will mingle doing that at least. Alyssa and Carlin are different though. Carlin gets out of the house a lot. Maybe because she only has 2. I could see carlin being more likely to actually get to know a neighbor or two with kids Layla’s age.

At least Alyssa takes the girl to a homeschooling co op with other kids once a week. They probably have some friends there.

They probably do. And they also do softball with John’s family. There must be some non family members there.

At least at their old house they played with neighbourhood kids. I remember a video about being in front of the house. Alyssa was trying to get the kids to coo over something they had bought, done, renovated or decorated and Lexi (I think) assumed they had gone outside to visit a neighbour.
No clue if they interact with any neighbours at the new house. I haven’t watched more than 5 videos since they moved and none in 6 months+.

When you live in a neighborhood with other kids, it’s harder to isolate. Because kids will flat out ask, “do you want to play?” And I just have a hard time imagining Alyssa and Carlin always saying no. I can imagine them saying yes sometimes. Especially if it occupies a kid for a little while.

Carlin shared in her stories that she spent some time in the hospital this weekend (possibly just the ER?) after having some type of episode and having to call 911. She said she hasn’t really felt right since having Zade and she’s now on an antibiotic. She didn’t give many more details, but said Evan would share more soon. She seemed good now and they’re still going to California for the wedding. I think they may be leaving Layla in Nashville with the grandparents.

Layla is going to CA, but Carlin has a work trip when they return, Layla will spend two days with Evan’s parents.

That’s scary - she seems to be more prone to health issues. 😞 Hope all is ok… I would be hesitant to travel while feeling unwell, especially to follow that trip with a work trip.

Have they said this? How do we know they have no friends? Is this a statement based on instagram-post-analysis? Alyssa is pretty unlikely to be posting pics of neighborhood kids on IG. There may be more to her life than what she posts.

Not feeling well since Zade was born; having an episode at the supermarket; then a similar attack during the night; taken to hospital by ambulance, haemoglobin levels found to be low; packing up for a trip to the wedding; driving to Nashville, then another emergency room visit to check blood levels, conflicting doctors' advice about travelling.

Stay at home Carlin- don't get on that plane

Personally i think she should have stayed home with the baby and send Evan with Layla since they already bought the tickets and this way there is someone from the family there supporting Lawson and Tiffany.

I was recently in a wedding and the sister of the bride/matron of honor had a health scare and her doctor told her not to travel (it would have been a similar distance to Carlin's trip). A specialist told her she *might* be ok to travel, but it was up to her to weight the risk. And as much as the bride and her sister struggled with her not being there for the wedding, they both knew it was a terrible idea to take the risk. The bride also knew that even though her wedding memories won't be perfect without her sister having been there, they would be a whole lot worse had something tragic happened because her sister decided to come.

Is she having some sort of iron deficiency problem?  Hypotension?

Hope she doesn't have an episode on the flight. Are they there yet? Being sick with a nursing baby and a toddler...on a long flight.

She said her hemoglobin had dropped from 12 at her six-week postpartum check to 9.5 at the time of the episode. I wonder if she had a small delayed hemorrhage? She seems to be very sensitive to low blood pressure (re: the passing out while in labour). It didn’t seem clear what was going on from what she posted so far. She said she’s been feeling unwell since giving birth and has had these two episodes that sound quite dramatic - maybe she vasovagaled? The plane ride is what would make me the most nervous, too.

With chemo, my hemoglobin is a constant source of stress. I get so sick when it drops. For me, it's when gets to about 8.5.

That's just to say that when I am sick from low hemoglobin, I cannot imagine attempting to fly anywhere. Hell, I can barely move from the bed to the sofa until I get blood and even then it takes some time to recover and regain strength.

Travelling is the absolute last thing I would think of doing, and taking a baby anywhere is about the only thing that would be even worse than the traveling.

I hope she's on top of it for real but wish she'd have stayed home.

I dunno with all the fam out of town and her not well, as a partner I would be hesitant to leave my spouse. Unless my mother came to look after her which could be an option

Carlin was so vague in her stories, I really hope she was maintaining privacy for herself.
But by being vague about it, she sounded really stupid like she has no idea what is happening with her health in the post partum period and she would get Evan to explain cause he has a penis and can understand the medical stuff.
In any case, she should be on the couch resting not flying across the country for a social event.

I’ve noticed she’s always like that when describing medical things, and often defers to Evan to explain things better, so I didn’t get the sense it was for privacy. She also mentioned being on antibiotics… I guess they must also think she has some sort of infection?

I think Evan should stay home too. I wouldn't leave a person is having "episodes" with a young child to take care of, let alone a new baby. If Carlin stays home, she needs someone to be there to help with the kids in case of an "episode" and depending on how severe the "episodes" are maybe drive her to a doctor or call an ambulance.

I'm unclear what's going on with her, and what these episodes are like, but I'd be nervous leaving her alone.
