Gwen Shamblin Lara 12: Gwen says something I can't understand.

I would imagine revenue is way down at Remnant & her weight loss branch.  If a 1/3 of the US has reduced pay and/or no pay the collection plate must be getting pretty light.

Gwen is finding out you cannot squeeze blood out of a turnip.

I wonder how long Tarzan will stick around when Gwen cannot finance all his toys ??

A bar down the street from my old apartment used to have one(I could see it when the door was open), but since NYS’s indoor smoking ban took effect in the early 2000s, I have no idea if it’s still there.

That thing with words was up later than normal so today I'm going to call it a delay-tional. It's the usual blah blah, you fall in love with what you focus on so make sure it's God and don't become dependent on food (this makes no sense, we are all dependent on food from the day we were born), affluence, man's praise etc.

What are You Focused on?

April 16, 2020

by Gwen Shamblin Lara

Again, you fall in love with what you focus on. What are you focused on? God created this phenomenon in hopes that you would find Him, not become dependent on idols, food, affluence, alcohol, lusts, or praise of man.

Now, if you STOP the focus on the food and you stop listening to the food and put this focus and attention on what the Spirit desires, you will please God, and the desire or the heart’s love for the food will fade away.

God knows we all need a whole new life, and it is exciting that you can start over. You can change what you focus on and what you listen to. This improves what is going into your mind, and then you can modify your mind and therefore your desires or wants… an entirely new mindset and therefore new life. It is time to take this seriously and evaluate your entire life.

I am sure Gwen put up this affluent-looking picture of her piously reading the Bible because money and man's praise mean nothing to her.

Cult prophetess, Gwen Shamblin Lara, must think she has bought and paid for Tarzan given that he was flat broke when they met shortly before marrying.  Joe had already bled his baby mama dry even before trying to take all custody of their daughter from her as well as the house that she alone owned. Of course, the only reason they were living in Brentwood was because he had conned the poor women into bankrolling his absurd new Nashville country music "career" !?!  That quickly morphed into Joe doing odd jobs. He was able to hire some vicious lawyers thanks to Gwen's generous support. He didn't quite succeed in his legal maneuvers (despite the female judge very publicly siding with him), but the baby mama and daughter are nevertheless stuck in RF-infested Williamson county until further developments. Isn't it great how our fantastic legal system empowers abusers and continually punishes their victims in the name of parenting plans. People like Gwen and Joe deserve each other. He may well move on at some point, but I hope he takes everything she has when he does and leaves her with nothing but a mere Remnant of Fellowship.

This is baffling. Why would god give me a life but know that I need a whole new one? Wouldn't the life he gave me be the one I'm supposed to be living?

@HerNameIsBuffy no, no, no! I promise you there are many more people in Brentwood not affiliated with RF than those that are. However, many of us are very aware of who they are, where they live, and what businesses they own.

Today we study contradictions and paradoxes.  TL; DR : the secret of weight loss is distracting yourself with selfless things. Jesus didn't care about food, he just wanted to do the will of God. Focus on Gwod and put Gwen's quotes everywhere.

The Secret to Quick Weight Loss

April 17, 2020

by Gwen Shamblin Lara

Comments are off

The best things to fill your time and mind with are selfless things. Jesus Christ spent His life focusing on the will of God. All other preoccupations could send you right back into self and selfish desires. Jesus implied that He was not focused on physical food. “My food is to do the will of the Father and to finish His work.” To refocus is the key to ending the head or heart hunger. Then it is practice, practice, and concentration to go back to eating only when the stomach growls. The faster you change your focus and your eyes and ears off the food and onto God—the faster you will lose the weight!

Do not think that this will be impossible for you because “you like food so much.” It is NOT impossible for your heart to have a makeover! The early Christians called it a “conversion.” It is simply a choice of where you put your focus—that is what affects your heart. As you focus less on food, it will become less interesting to you, and God will become more and more interesting! The more time you spend in the Bible and reading WeighDown materials, instead of opening the pantry or the refrigerator, the more you will crave learning more about God and Christ. Replace the hidden stashes of food with the truths you learn in WeighDown and in the Word—write them everywhere—on your phone, computer, mirrors, in the fridge, etc.

The more you think about God, sing to Him and praise Him, the more you will feel passion for Him. As God becomes your highest interest in life, the love for food will disappear! You can be permanently thin, permanently free of tobacco, permanently free of the love of material possessions, attention, alcohol, pornography, and any idols on Earth!

And where do the paradoxes enter into it, you might ask.

Well, if Jesus was just another dude, he might have been selfless when focusing on the will of God. But supposing you believe in the Trinity  can focusing on the will of God be described as selfless?  if you're God and focus on the will of God, aren't you just about your own desires just like the rest of us?`

The second contradiction is this: WeighDown teaches you to  focus on selfless things and God's will.... but why? Because you want to be thin. This is not selfless.

There is only one thing to value: thinness, When you have that there is only one thing to fear: food. Sieppaa.PNG.9ced7ee41bcf764a1176ee1a434eb7c0.PNG

Well, for someone who was doing odd jobs for a living, he sure has quickly turned that situ around.  Wow.  How could she be that stupid??

How to Stay Motivated for Lasting Weight Loss

April 18, 2020

Let me talk you into wanting God over food or other idols. I have spent most of my life reasoning with people who think they are going to miss the food, and scared that they will be bored or have the emptiest days ever. Turning to God from idols should not even be a competition, and it is not a contest. Do you not WANT to desire less food? Do you not want to be someone who has self-control with the food? So then, stop thinking about the food. Get your mind onto anything but food, and especially think about the commands of God. If your heart only knew that God was going to let you get hungry again and that He was going to feed you again! He is a Great Shepherd who loves to feed His sheep physically and spiritually. In fact, the picture of a shepherd is of one who spends all day looking for a great place for the sheep to feed. Look to Him for guidance on when to start eating and when to stop. You have got to come to know how good He will be to you if you seek Him.

So, here's just one more thing I don't get about these two.  She talks about being an obedient wife and all, but what really comes across to me, esp in this video, is she wears the size 0 pants in this relationship.  Joe is much  more serious when he did the two recent videos on his own.  And, he seems as if he actually has two brain cells to rub together in those.  I feel that he is the subservient one, NOT Gwen.  You can see she's used to getting her way in everything.  It's going to be interesting to see how long he can  put up with her and her craziness before burning himself out being her glorified houseboy/boytoy.

Of course, there's always the thought that he could stay on with her, and just get it on the side, with someone who's not so crazy and weight obsessed.  I my mind, I'd love to see him caught cheating with someone who's,  you know, all the way to the other extreme, like, really hefty.   That would kill Gwod!  :)

*edited to add:  Gwen looks like she has bricks under her hair today.  It looks..............well.........square.

I've done my fair share of internet searches over time regarding Gwen Shamblin Lara.  I don't know how long this has sat there, but a few days ago I stumbled upon the original Josef Smith murder trail transcripts out there.

For those who don't know, this was a murder trial regarding the murder of an 8 year old boy Josef Smith by Remnant Fellowship members Joseph and Sonya Smith.  The parents were found guilty.

I read the transcripts for all the 10 days of trail plus the sentencing hearing.  It was a long read.

But wow!!  I never knew just how awful Josef was abused by his parents.  Some of the abuse was literally admitted to by Sonya and Joseph during police interviews.  Even one of their other, older sons testified in this trail about the horrendous abuse.  Can you imagine having to testify (I think he was 13 at the time) against your own parents (who are sitting right there in court) on the events immediately leading up to the death of his own little brother.  I heard bit and pieces of the story long ago, but I had no idea of the many of the things that all transpired.

If anyone who is a member of Remnant is reading this board (we know they have before), you owe it to yourself that you take the time to read these transcripts.  If you don't or won't, you're missing some key facts that Remnant never, ever mentions.

For anyone else on this board, this transcript reads like a classic crime novel.  Tragically, this is a true story with Remnant's footprint all around.  If you have the time/inclination to read this, I think you'll find it incredibly interesting.

I found difficult to understand the Smiths case after leaving Remnant. The amount of information that was left out when Gwen would give the church updates was astonishing. The way Remnant twisted the narrative versus what was documented was insane as well. While I was a member I thought that Joseph and Sonya were one appeal away from being released from prison. When I looked into the records myself after leaving, I found out that that was not the case.

"It's not about finding the right person, it's about being the right person."- supposedly from one of Gwens books.

So how does that work exactly? And was it Gwen or her ex that weren't being the right person? And can you only be the right person if you go there? And what if you are being the right person but your spouse isn't being the right person? It's a very one sided statement that being the right person means you can overcome anything in a relationship.....oh don't even get me started how dumb and naive this is.

The bride also addresses when her parents finally "broke through to me". Alex, I think you mean your parents finally succeeded in brainwashing you and you gave in because you couldn't fight them all anymore.

I remember Gwen told us during various saturday/wednesday services that:

* Joseph and Sonya only said the things they said (euphemism for “admitted to horribly abusing their child”) because the police told them they would never see their remaining children again otherwise

* Josef “knew how to push his parents’ buttons.” Not sure how to interpret that any way except victim-blaming

* Josef caused most of his injuries himself because he would purposefully bang his head into things when throwing tantrums

* None of Josef’s injuries were from abuse, he died from a Staph infection due to an eczema blister and all of the bruising came afterwards due to coagulopathy and resuscitative efforts by the medics. This may have been a desperate theory cooked up by the unethical doctor that Gwen hired, but since it wasnt supported at all by the autopsy findings by all the other doctors, it didn’t convince anyone

* Joseph and Sonya are precious saints, have a great attitude in prison, etc. therefore they couldn’t possibly be guilty

* Soon afterward: Josef and Sonya were only found guilty because the lawyer wasn’t good enough to object to the tactics of the prosecution’s lawyer, so they just need a better lawyer for the appeal

* Soon afterward: (crickets)

The Only Motivation that Lasts

You are never going to lose ALL the weight until you finally say, “I am not having a relationship with that food anymore!” Flee it! Turn around and say “NO!” and make a decision to have a relationship with God instead. God is begging you for a relationship. Do not run back to the relationship with food.

Just going through the motions—cutting the food in half and eating on small plates—will not reform your devotion to food. You need to transfer your love to the God of the Universe who deserves your love. You will not lose weight for yourself or your own health; you will not be motivated to lose the weight for your children or your spouse. The loving fear of God is the only motivation that is strong enough to cause you to completely be converted. This transfer will come from you understanding that God requires this love for Him. God can help you get a new heart for Him. Just pray.

This is one of the things that always bothered me. It’s her way (WD) or it doesn’t work. Even if it looks like it does. They will eventually gain their weight back because the didn’t do it God’s (read:Gwen’s) way. *it didn’t matter who was brought up this was her general answer.

So here's the link to the "show" that the still picture is from.

https://www.remnantfellowship.tv/gluten-free-paleo-and-vegan-diets-you-can-overcome-season-8-episode-7/

It's from March 2016.  I think it is not impossible that this old picture of anorexia tyrant Gwen Shamblin Lara with her EX-right-hand church man was posted in order to show that Tedd Anger's not gone. But maybe it was just a really old dietational today. Who knows? They are completely nuts over there at the Remnant Fellowship cult.

Loving fear is a concept that is unacceptable in any healthy relationship, especially when there is a power imbalance. It's difficult to love someone or something if you're fearful. These types of statements are the kind that make me feel like even if there was a god, they wouldn't be worthy of worship.

Yes, that has always been Gwen's/Tedd's/Remnant's defense.

The written transcripts were so interesting.  Remnant hired in very expensive doctors (rent-a-docs) to say this type of thing.  One doctor was $500/hour, another was $450-$600/hour to look over the case and come up with anything that could possibly show Josef didn't die at the hands of his parent's abuse.

These 2 defense-rent-a-docs never saw Josef's body in real life and never saw the police reports or the interviews where the Smiths literally admitted to beating Josef time after time.  If I remember correctly, I think they were both skin doctors.

However, Dr. Keyes was one of the actual doctors that worked on Josef.  On top of residencies at John Hopkins, and a pediatric critical care fellowship at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, he had almost 20 years  in pediatric intensive care at the hospital Josef ended up at.

Spoiler

image.png.310dc402131436374bb36d95c03566c7.png

When the prosecution asked Dr. Keyes what he thought when the defense-rent-a-skin-doctor ran his theory by Dr. Keyes, Dr Keyes said:

"I told him -- I asked him if he wanted me to be frank.  I told him that what he was -- what he proposed was so farfetched, I didn't know where to start."

So there you have it.  Remnant's entire defense called "so farfetched, I don't know where to start" by the main doctor that actually worked on Josef.

Oh yea, when Dr. Keyes first sat down when he was called as a witness, he also said this:

image.png.77f9f77d81b9917e31921dd71720fc1f.png

So either you believe what Gwen and the rest of Remnant says ("the Smiths are saints", "the Smiths are innocent", etc) or you believe this doctor.  Of the two, guess who has had something to lose?

The Smiths actually had a very "good" lawyer (as good as criminal defense lawyers go who defend clearly guilty people can be) named Manny Arora.  They actually had 2 defense lawyers, but Mr. Arora did most of the talking.

He fought the case "very well" in the transcripts.  He was aggressive (the judge and him even got into one major spat in the transcripts) and very well versed in legal defense proceedings.  The judge said how effective the council was on both sides multiple times.

If you look at the bottom of this website:

https://aroralascala.com/attorneys-and-staff/manubir-arora/

it certainly like appears he is a 'top tier' defense lawyer.  Gwen and Remnant had to pay a very pretty penny to use him.  The trail itself was 2 weeks.  There had to be many, many weeks of prep work.  I can't image the legal bill Mr. Arora sent them.

No, the Smiths didn't lose because they had ineffective layers.  The Smiths lost because it was obvious to the jury that the Smith's murdered their 8 year old child.  Remnant's best efforts at retaining a very top tier lawyer just didn't work.
