Duggars by the Dozen 38: What Can They Shill Next?

Ugh.  He stands a decent chance of winning simply because he’s running as a conservative Republican.

Boob is running for political office again, this time by proxy.  Jed is wholly unprepared for this...if he wins, Boob is going to be by his side the entire time. That’s probably the whole point.

Does Jed even realize he’s being used?

Can someone with better internet sleuthing skills figure out if any of the Duggars actually live in District 89? Because it’s a seat held by a Democrat, it looks like an opportunity for a Republican to take a shot. According to what I’ve read so far, it’s a very ethnically diverse district which would help the Democrats, but are these residents registered voters? I’m actually interested in seeing how this all plays out, of course hoping Jed gets his ass whooped. Hopefully this will get its own thread if it’s official.

Megan Godfrey, current state rep that Jed is potentially running against, looks like a pretty awesome progressive politician. Her voting record is pro-choice and pro-immigration. Her professional background is bilingual education. If Jed ends up being the Republican candidate, Godfrey would be a great candidate to support with donations.

Found this on twitter. It was obviously coming...

I wish I could send my virtually guaranteed blue votes elsewhere.

Can't we finagle voter fraud for purposes of some kind of good?

And to that end, I think it would be awesome if Ms. Godfrey received a slew of random donations from around the country/world. I have no extra money now but I will send her $5-10 bucks if she has to deal with a Duggar opponent.

I haven't followed Jed really, what kind of political experience does he have and how did you guys know he'd ran?

He spent a day as a page in Little Rock with Joy a couple of years ago. Other than that, I've got nothin'.

He's a Fundie and he has male "dangly bits". That's all the qualification he needs to make him capable of anything and an expert on everything.

Next there will be Bates dude running for something. They can't be left out of the mix. Wait, didn't Zack run for something years ago. Well Jed will be the underdog and people will vote because they simply "admire" him for having the balls to run against a well educated and experienced politician. He definitely must be in love. Something about love and marriage causes these fundie guys to think they know it all and can run the world.

These people are just so bizzare.

I get JB's motivation for pushing his sons to run and his endless greed for attention and power. But it's so weird.

They are borderline prideful about under-educating their children, refuse to let them work outside the hand-me-down car lot(s) and don't allow socialising outside of the cult events.

Can you even imagine Jed, who is basically still a child, at a function or official event trying to talk to the reps and government officials? What's he gonna talk about? The bedroom he shares with his many brothers or the TV show that made his family famous?

Despicable beliefs aside, Jed seems to have one of the more sympathetic personalities out of the Duggar spawn, and I feel a little bad for him. He is absolutely unqualified for this.

Let's hope he does fail by a landslide and voters are not swayed by his fame/campaign.

Anyone else remember in the 14 Children and Pregnant Again or 15 Kids and Still Knocked Up specials narrated by the hokey dude? He said most of the Duggars shared the Air Sickness Gene and everyone was shown green or barfing. Seems funny that several are now small plane pilots and they all travel by plane on a regular basis.

If Jed isn’t married and he wins how awkward is it going to be having an accountability partner on the floor of the state house?

While I appreciate this sentiment and will totally donate to Godfrey, I just want to clarify that it's illegal for anyone other than American citizens to donate money to candidates in American elections.

I was curious indeed.
While I definitely would like to chip in and think it is funny if she has no clue where the money is coming from, it is good to know that I cannot do that.

Ugh... I was on a short holiday and didn't spend much time on FJ the last couple of days. What’s the first thing I read when I came back?! A Duggarling is running for office.

This shows (once again) how dangerous these people really are! The Duggars aren’t simply some wholesome nutters on tv, they want to control other people as much as they control their own voiceless, chaperoned children. They want to be involved in passing extremely regressive laws, take away (actual) religious freedom and reproductive rights. They’re against sex ed, thus purposely working towards keeping children and teenagers uneducated. They and their ilk are anything but innocent and loving.

So it's official:

I'd be surprised if he can string together 3 coherent sentences about the opioid crisis or the economy.  Although as we know coherence is no longer required for politicians. ?

Well, it's state-level and not national so, that's something. Unfortunately, that also means he might have a better chance.

Should he get his own thread?

It just makes me SO ANGRY that I'm in my mid-30s, have over a decade of work experience and almost a PhD, and I would feel pretty unqualified to run for anything except maybe school board, while this isolated, uneducated, inexperienced, anti-science child thinks he's in a position to be making laws for the rest of us. I think most of the blame for that still lies with JB & M, but Jed is quickly becoming my least-favorite unmarried Duggar.
