@bea, why not tell us how you really feel?

Great post. :)

Hypocrite.

And it's always fun when someone refuses to accept the discipline of their own church after preaching about it being so very important.  Like Dougie the Tool, Scot Brown, now James McD (allegedly), and the list goes on.  Wasn't Spanky also disciplined long ago (before his DUI) by his church so he had to run back to Daddy?

That makes me NUTS. All the Quiverfull courtship-only all-by-the-rule-book our-way-is-right-way crowd whose lives don't turn out the way they intended, or whose real lives don't fit the mold they insisted was the ONLY ONE just slooooooowly back away. <snip>

@bea, Awesome post!  You knocked it out of the ballpark!

And what about Joshua Harris?  He is attending or may even have graduated from a mainstream seminary in Canada.  A WaPo article from 2015, Pastor Joshua Harris, an evangelical outlier, heads to mainstream seminary, noted that Harris said his kids would probably go to public school while he was in seminary.  Da fuq I just read?  and this from the same article:

Quote

Harris went on to write several other books about dating, and his stance is more nuanced now, no longer opposed to dating but in favor of deeper commitment in relationships. But he has had a hard time shaking the label of “dating expert” as he has sought to be taken more seriously as a theologian. This month, he let loose this self-deprecating tweet: “Read ‘I Kissed Dating Goodbye’? #FiveWordsToRuinADate,” which was favorited dozens of times.

I Kissed Dating Goodbye is still available right now, today, on Amazon in Kindle, paperback, hardcover, DVD and CD Rom.

And James McDonald?  You're a straight-up sniveling coward for not defending the school system that fed you, educated you and taught you to read and write.  Just wondering here:  how many of the people shi**ing on him for posting that were also educated in public schools? *paws ground and snorts with steam coming out of both ears*   ETA: But this is how you compromise yourself when you don't want to lose anyone on your downline; "protect the cash flow" is your new religion.

And as @Palimpsest noted, it's always fun when someone refuses to accept the discipline of their own church after preaching about it being so very important

This is diagnostic criteria in the FJ version of the DSM-5 for narcissistic patriarchal personality disorder.

I thought he was just looking for something more lucrative than pastoring. Just my impression, not knowing any backstory. Though, whatever they've been doing over the years seems to have to paid off for them. They had a nice house in TX, and when they moved to IL they bought a house with, IIRC, a private lake (which sounds really extravagant to me).

The "pastoring" may not have been very lucrative for James & Stacy but it did bring power, which is like crack cocaine to all of these fundies. The power over people (e.g., the "pastors"), the power derived from adoring followers (e.g., YLCF)  -- no matter the source, it's addictive and paramount for these folks. Jesus is a distant second.

James & Stacy McDonald reportedly skedaddled out of TX, just a few rest stops ahead of their creditors, after the collapse of Home Schooling Today. Not surprisingly, James & Stacy disputed this assertion. Whatever the case, they apparently left TX with enough $$ to acquire their IL property though one wonders if the local church provided any funds at the time, as is not uncommonly done for a ministerial residence. Also, while their  oily income may be funding the various perks they love showing off on FB & elsewhere, IIRC, someone said that they were also the beneficiaries of a generous bequest from a deceased relative -- hence the new kitchen & other renovations.

And @bea - a completely righteous rant!

I checked all the compensation for the top tier of the Young Living, the minimum compensation at their level is little over $32,000 per month so they are raking in major money from the mlm.

editing to add that the chance of any distributor reaching the level Stacy reached is less than 0.1%.  Her BS skills are tops.

She must also have wrung dry every last person in any of her "networks" -- family, church, community, friends  & acquaintances of the foregoing.

She's also been doing this for a couple of years. By now, you'd think a saturation point of some kind would have occurred.

Hee!  I'd forgotten most of that, and there were some details I probably never picked up on.  When Cindy K. gets her teeth into someone she really goes to town.  I wish she were less long-winded about it though.

You can always tell that someone is highly suspect when they have to maintain an entire website devoted to pathetic attempts to counter efforts to expose their lies, hypocrisy and general dirty dealing.  James and Stacy are dirty as hell.

Seriously.  I can't imagine she's left a single contact she's ever made unexploited.

Her downline are the ones hustling now. She's probably lounging around at home wearing leopard print leggings while getting a house call mani-pedi with glitter nail polish -- "Could you be a dear and put that tiny little diamond just a touch more toward the center of the nail?"

James deleted his post after being criticized for defending "government schools." One "friend" told him (paraphrasing), "Your lunches weren't free-- someone was paying for them!"

One thing I don't get about this position is that people who are often very pro personal charity can object to their tax money going to fund universal programmes. Pool resources, spread the wealth. Society is a collective endeavour, we all benefit from the work of other people in direct and indirect ways every day.

(I know it's something to do with small government and personal responsibility, but helping people are promoting self-sufficiency needn't be mutually exclusive idk)

And the funny part is that there is absolutely nothing preventing charities from offering help. Nothing. Yet these "personal choice" douchewaffles want us to believe that if only the government would stop helping people, the religious groups would step in. They don't seem to notice that if the charities were doing such a great job, no one would need help from the government.

There are some incredibly cheap round-trip fares (under $400)  from Denver to Brussels advertised on the interwebs.  Beall, drive the kid up north, she takes the cheap but very nice Bustang bus service to Denver, connect to the airport bus/train and there ya go!  For that amount, you could take an accountability partner!  Or are accountability partners for Young Ladies™ passé in the new post-VF world?

So... he's posted quite a few new clips on Vimeo, featuring both a Jazz Age Lawn Party, and his daughter.

Both party and daughter were filmed in NYC.

I'm going to say that it's safe to assume that at *least* one daughter knows of his cinematography adventures.

I think the lowlife McDonalds serve a thread of their own.

Teading this link about a victim named Guenther, and recalling that Jessica M married a guy surnamed Guenther, I wonder about a connection.

If there is a connection, either (a) the elder Mr. Guenther forgave the lowlifes or (b) one of his sons entered into a Montague/Capulet marriage.

The pushy wife of a reasonably popular pastor  has a ready-made pool of pigeons from which to pick. It's occurred that the couple's ambitions may have been another part of his separation from whatever church he had in Peoria.

Thought & wondered the same thing.

Also, was he the young man who first courted/became engaged to an older sister -- Tiffany?

Well and they are making money off of their children as at least 3 are on their downline.....Jessica, Tiffany and Christa all sell oils, funny though their husbands have regular jobs.  I thought MLM's were a way for families to "work together"???

Yes, I saw a Richard Guenther mentioned on that link and wondered if he was related to Jessica's husband. @hoipolloi, Melissa's husband Garrison had a failed courtship with Jessica before he courted and married Melissa. Though Tiffany also had a failed courtship (it even got as far as engagement). I think the guy's name was Jared Cave. I remember James or Stacy spoke out about that one, admitting things had moved too fast and they had not done enough vetting or whatever before allowing Jared to propose. I don't know if Jared did something wrong or if it was decided he wasn't the right match for Tiffany.

I've also seen stuff about how charity is meant to be personal choice and generosity with your own resources, rather than the government being generous with the money it taxed from you.  Giving your own money = good, the government taxing your money and redistributing it = Teh Grate Ebil Socialism!!11!!!!

What happens when the wife's MLM revenue stream out performs headship's pay check?

But back to Doug.  Where the HECK does he get the money to continue gallivanting while housing and feeding non-working wife and five kids remaining under the family roof? Travelling, including overseas, is damned expensive, which is why we don't do it often. Cost of living in Durango is not cheap, especially when feeding as many mouths as they do, and serious winter heating bills are only a few months away... *scratches head in bewilderment*

They made off with a bundle from VF - someone else was paying the bills for the house, right? And DPIAT still got a salary. That retail arm made money, too. And you know that when he knew Lourdes would take him to court, he would have cashed out of every VF arm before it flopped.
How many kids are at home now? I always lose track.

I'm wondering- since the tool is out gallivanting, do we expect him to make an appearance at Joshua and Delaney's wedding (at the end of the month)?

At least the youngest three (Honor, Providence & Virginia), at most six (the youngest three + Liberty, Jubilee, Faith).

The two oldest boys appear to have flown the parental coop.
