Jill and Jessa Counting on--part 3

I am an only child married to someone who was 1 of over 20 kids! I think our marriage works well because we have taken the good and the bad from our experiences growing up and found a happy medium.

One thing is I grew up were only children were the norm. In my neighborhood growing up there were 16 only children homes and 3 homes with 2 or more kids. Even going off to college , in my freshman dorm only 2 girls had a sibling, the rest were all only children. I think the benefits were I was able to travel with my parents all over the world and had seen so many different choices in life that I knew what I wanted and went after it at a young age. I 100% with PP the one done side is taking care of an aging parent alone. My father died when I was young and my mom is a difficult personality. My mom has long term health care and all the legal stuff in order but it still has taken a huge toll on myself and my kids now that my mom has declined in health. 3 weeks ago was the first time I wished for a sibling. My mom found out she had a brain tumor and was rushed to surgery and it was just me to decide everything.

My best friend growing up was an only child and my next door neighbor. I am closer with her then my husband is to any of his 20+ siblings. I have 5 solid close relationships with friends that I have had for over 25 years that I can depend on for anything at anytime but my husband's huge family is very splintered, they talk  and no one is mean but it is pretty superficial relationships where most do their own thing. I would not trade my non related close relationships for those my husband has from his mega family. I think being an only child helped me make strong one on one relationships.

This is exactly how I feel about my children. My mom expects full live in care from me or my sister. I told her how I felt about wanting to be treated by my own kids and she didn't talk to me for a week she was so offended (about how I planned to address my OWN children in MY elderly state). Yeah....

Of course, do what you think is best with your kids.  My mom was the opposite, she never expected anything from us.  She totally let us choose to live our lives how we wanted, and any friends/boyfriends we brought home, even "iffy" ones, she always accepted into her home.  You cannot imagine how much we appreciated that.  When she was old we were all very willing to help her out and no one batted an eye when she needed something.

Can't recall if I read this on Pickles or Cancel the Duggars, but the 1st car buyer is a family friend. Quite the set-up! Never any intention of buying the car. So when Jinger said the deal didn't go through, well, of course not, it was never intended to be finalized.

Honesty is the best policy.

i read it somewhere - they could be wrong :D

It makes sense for Jessa to be worth half a million dollars.  Once she was over 18, she and the other legal adults had to have their own contracts for the show.  Plus the speaking engagements, which probably pay a good amount.  And these aren't people who waste money.  Everything is used.  The house is free, daddy updated it and furnished it, the cars are used.  They live a frugal life. They've been all over the world on TLC's dime.

Nancy Daniels, TLC's General Manager, told FOX411 she believes there is a small vocal group that is against the Duggars. She also said the network routinely places advertisers where they want to be.

:my_rolleyes: :my_confused:

I guess the show will get renewed for a second season.

But even with little Spurge around, I can't help thinking Bin made things worse for himself. He and Jessa made it clear that he was taking time out from his education (whatever it may be worth) during the baby's first year. That seemed ridiculous to me. He really couldn't manage to continue studying, helping with the baby, and doing odd jobs for J-Boob all in the same year?? Frankly, I think Bin's just self-indulgent.

Does he think every family has the ability for both parents to put everything else aside (including earning an income and education) for the baby's first year?

I mean, I'm all for parental leave for both mom and dad, but I suspect Ben probably is not because for it to happen on a large scale, the government would have to help and I would think to him that would be... *gasp*... socialism.

So I'm just wondering why it would be okay for him but not for other people? Unless I'm incorrectly stereotyping his politics.

Is Nancy Daniels a leghumper? Several advertisers said they purchased blocks of time not committed to any specific program, and when they found out they were sponsoring Counting On, they objected to TLC. Now if they really found Counting On that objectionable, they would have insisted their ads not run during this show when buying the airtime. But, late corrective action is better than no corrective action at all.

I was hopeful after reading that deadline hollywood article I posted, but Nancy Daniels seems to really love the Duggars.

I have posted two articles about advertisers wanting nothing to do with this show. I think there is still hope that this first season will be the last.

To be fair, they may have bought the blocks before Counting On was even announced.   Not everyone is constantly thinking of how the Duggars may sneak back on TV.  A lot of advertisers don't know much about the shows where their ads run. .. Until the show turns out to be objectionable.

About Kim Jung-Boob, it struck me as tasteless to compare a fame whoring fundie with such a major creep.

However, I couldn't stop my brain from noticing similarities.

1. They both have bad hair cuts.

2. They put their pictures in their minions' private spaces.

3. They reward those loyal to them with houses and cars.

4. Those who are not loyal are shipped of to indoctrination and work camps.

5. They hate the lies of the evil media and use their own media to project a perfect image.

6. They want to be in control of people's incomes and livelihoods.

7. Their followers look adoringly at them.

8. They have a thing with guns.

9. They blame all trouble on evil outside powers.

10. They think they can give advice on anything.

So....if Jinger wants to flip cars, she cannot flip more than 5 cars a year without getting her dealer license in Arkansas

https://static.ark.org/eeuploads/asp/used_motor_vehicle_dealer_company_application_052014.pdf

If you look, you will see the application is attached and quite involved. So, IMO, the buying and selling of 4 cars a year, with a profit of $500-$1000 per car, her salary will not be very much.

Altho maybe JB still has his dealer license, or Josh still does and she is operating under that license. I dunno.

I suspect Jinger will flip approximately one car, then go back to doing... I don't know, whatever the hell it is she does.

Annnnd, didn't one of the boys say that JB owned the property that the car was sitting on? And didn't the boy say that JB told them that this was a good place to advertise the car? But iirc, there were 5-6 cars parked there. I could be wrong and I deleted the show from my DVR. Maybe someone with authority (of a higher sort than JB's) will come along and decide THAT is a car lot and check out licensing.

I heard the exact same thing.  You aren't wrong - it says volumes imo
