Should people be ashamed of being victims of sexual assault? The shame should be Josh's.

Bingo.

There is a school of thought that all sexual assaults against women are considered worse than other assaults only because sociologically speaking a girls virginity and sexuality are not her own but is her fathers or husbands. And it is not an offence against her but a theft against him.

I recall in sociology class debating this and it was fascinating.

It goes back to why the shame of the victim when they did nothing.

We know jessa is rather emotionally closed under the best of circumstances.

I question whether she's got too much "I don't give a shit, how's my hair look?" to be a decent mother.

As a Juvenile Probation Officer, I am able to refute the claim of low recidivism amongst juvenile sex offenders. In Alaska, the rate was 60 % reoffended with in 5 years.

I had to stop watching 10 minutes in after the repeated improper use of the word "whenever"...their school teacher sucked.

That bothers the crap out of me too. Is this a dialect thing that I'm just not familiar with, or poor education?

I am so sick of the sugar-coaty term "inappropriate touching."

It's a step up from Josh's "mistake".

I was thinking that too. They are emotionally stunted.

Even when they are speaking about their baby sisters being assaulted. Where is the outrage? I have a hard time speaking up for myself too, and I was raised with religious bullshit, but if someone touched my sister, I would be that person's worst nightmare.

Megyn has really flipped the script in two days from ILLEGALLY RELEASED POLICE REPORT to ohhh the big bad media and their big bad ethics are doing this to these poor girls.

Practically ever single lawyer and judge on Fox News has said this wasn't illegally released. She probably got the memo that her own peeps aren't going along with the Duggar narrative.

Lol, Christian Cranberry, Modest Melon... thanks for the laugh during this horror show

Oh good, a light-hearted moment. Touch-Free Tangerine, Purposeful Pomegranate, Abstinence Apricot. And for the very casual look....Nike Nude.

My god...poor Israel is only two months old, and he is already being tarred with the same brush and will eventually be implicated in the same crimes that Josh was.

If that isn't the single most fucked up mentality in the history of the world, then I don't know what is.

. Exactly! Brothers and sisters should be able to rough-house, sit on each other, hug, show affection in all sorts of ways... because there should be no sexual thoughts between siblings! I feel bad for th Duggar grandkids growing up not being able to show each other normal and natural affection because of this.

Lets blame the liberal media! Part 4

They reshow Jill sobbing when she found out the report was being released... Jessa doesnt even look at her.

Megyn - you could hear izzy crying in the room below as Jill cried... these are vibrant beautiful women who are supposed to be in the prime of their lives... what ethical obligation did in touch have to think of them

Howard Kurtz - watching jill and jessa struggle... blah blah victimized by the porn rag... put aside the legalities, why is OK for in touch to violate an iron clad rule and identify these women

megyn - they did and it didnt take a lot of math. We're supposed to follow a code. Is it because they're christians. I dont see that exception in the ethics book

Howie - maybe they thought because of the reality show... when you look at those 2 women its like they were collateral damage.

Megyn - pundits on other shows asking where were the parents? Where is the media now asking who was there for the girls

howie - the stunning thing is the media conduct has been a non issue. Josh didnt join the interview. The parents put them at risk. To listen to jill and jessa, media can inflict a lot of damage and these 2 women are victims. They've been dragged through the mud

megyn - what of the other victims who are out these considering calling the hotline - they have a promise of confidentiality and they see this

howie - that the worst part of it. We want them to report and there has to be some doubt ... the media needs to wrestle, at what point is the story not worth it because of the damage inflicted.

I fully expected to have conflicting emotions going on during this interview.

I can honestly say, I'm fully disgusted with them. There is no ambivalence with how I feel. They fully admit that "other people have gone through worse" then throw those "other people" under the bus by saying we didn't care about them. I made a point not to bash the Duggars, and try to make conversation that didn't involve naming them or what happened to them; avoiding labeling Josh as a pedophile and a child molester - and even put my own experiences out there to explain exactly why this story affects me. This has not been easy for me either, but I guess it's all about THEM and how THEY feel. Screw everyone else, right? We're not rich or pretty enough to care about. There couldn't possibly be any other people that this story affects now is there, girls?

You know what? You got your wish girls. I'm so pissed I don't care about you now. Hope you're happy, but why wouldn't you be? Unlike most fundy survivors your parents made millions and you have the world literally fawning at you. And they are willing to continue fawning at you while you spit in the face of every fundy child abuse survivor because you don't want to lose your tv show.

There is not enough FUs in the world to come close to how I'm feeling right now.

Walking away... again.

I'm sure this segment with Howard Kurtz was filmed yesterday or today (though it doesn't look live).

Interesting how we're talking about "ethics" and "morals" and "journalism code" instead of "illegal" now.

Listening to Megyn and Howard talk about the media sensationalizing and victimizing 'these victims' makes me want to stab something in the face

I'm gonna go get a watermelon

Who is this crazy woman from academia? What on earth?

I looked her up she hosted a seminar called "I was a child abuser!" http:// library.tc.columbia.edu/news.php?id=1109 and works as an advocate for those falsely accused and/or wrongfully convicted of sexually and/or physically harming children.

I just figured out why Jill keeps baby Izzy swaddled. It's to prevent any inappropriate touching. He is male, after all. I want to feel sorry for these ladies, but my anger at their minimizing the horror of sexual abuse is making that impossible. Go lead your narrow miserable lives and stay off my tv forevermore.

It's a regional dialect thing. I'm far from being poorly educated, though I'm not a law degreed professional, but I do use whenever when speaking. Usually when I'm looking for words.

Watching them say that they felt victimized one thousand times more by the media than by Josh.....shows how messed up they are. How brainwashed they are.

Really? So these children go to authorities and tell their story expecting that NO ONE will ever hear about it, nor their identity revealed, and now an entire nation is talking about how their brother touched their boobs while they slept, and it's the headline on yahoo, with multiple articles, on every channel and every news source, and you don't get how they can feel more victimized NOW? I'm sorry, this blows my mind. Releasing that report was wrong. It was obvious, even when blacked out who the victims were. How are other victims supposed to trust the police? It's insane, and I feel so awful for those children.

your absolutely right but as a victim and i've said so in many of the threads raped abused by a family member for years you blame yourself. It happens more than you think and the victims most times are not believed. It took years a restraining order and a threat against my own daughter for my family to listen to me. Note I say listen because if it were believed I wouldn't be cast out of a family like I was the trash. Again the victim gets punished. Not that I would have a thing to do with them but I've had to hear how I ruined a family, I ripped it apart and destroyed it shouldn't that blame be on the abuser?

I totally get that and I'm so sorry you went through that. But I think it also illustrates how little therapy the girls got in the aftermath of their violation. You get it; they still don't, and they're hollering about it on TV. They're busy blaming the media for their violation, instead of Josh. They've also been treated horribly by their family, by forcing forgiveness to keep the family together. Those words about "choice," in the absence of true therapy, have no meaning.

I am now five beers in, so I will say what probably everyone is thinking..cuss words incoming.

This family is fucking batshit insane.

ETA: My youngest son, has a therapy appointment on Wednesday (with a real child psychologist no less), I'm going to ask her some things about this.

Can this train wreck please end so I can switch to CNN and listen to them point out the lies I have missed.

Does anyone have one of those nifty links for CNN? I haven't been able to find it so far

Haha. "Modest Melon" "Nike Nude". These are great.

This made me wonder - do you think they have to look at the names of the lipsticks/lipgloss they purchase before and that some are forbidden? For example, Cover Girls "Seduce Scarlet", "Temptress Rose" and "Vixen Violet"?
