This kind of stuff reminds me of the home parties to sell Tupperware, Pampered Chef and Mary Kay Cosmetics, etc., that used to be the way “housewives” drummed up some extra spending money. Ugh. I got invited to so many of those and never really had the money to buy any of it. I’m frugal enough to not want to pay more when I can get similar products for less. I always felt like I was missing something because I wasn’t all gung-ho about these parties and the merchandise the way other women were.

I admit to being a complete sucker for Tupperware.  We have multiple Tupperware pieces from the 70s to today.    My mom hosted a couple of Tupperware parties when I was little, and I hosted one myself when I was engaged.  I still have all the pieces I bought and earned, and my dad just gave me some tiny versions of the 70s cereal bowls that we had for years.  They are still good and holding up 50 years later.

You can buy Tupperware on Amazon now.  No need to host or attend a party to get it.

I'm a bit of a sucker for Pampered Chef knives (or I was - they changed them) and also SOME 31 bags. But it's very specific. And I haaaate parties like that. I did have one friend who decided to invite ALL her friends who had this stuff to sell to a party on one night. Each person selling something had a different table set up with their stuff and she just had apps and drinks. You came, you bought if you wanted, you drank and mingled. NO PRESSURE.

I'm super anti-MLM but I will die on the Tupperware/Pampered Chef hill. They have quality items that last a long time. Yes, they're a bit more pricy, but the investment is well worth it, imo.

I bought some Pampered Chef pieces back in the late 90s/early 00s and they are still doing fine.   I didn't attend parties but I would purchase from co-workers who were having parties and circulated the Pampered Chef book throughout the office.  There was no pressure.  Either you bought or you didn't.

I have a 31 bag that I bought brand new on Amazon that I enjoy using on trips.  Bought it in 2015 and it's still holding strong.

My church had an affair similar to what your friend did.  They had vendors for different MLMs set up booths with things to sell and buy right then and there.  I got some really great deals on Silpada (another one I used to love) at that booth.  The vendors were selling retired demo pieces at 50 percent off.  So sometimes there actually are deals to be had.

I can afford stuff a lot easier these days, but the home parties would still never suit me.

Tupperware is great but I like a variety of different brand containers. I recently bought clear Pyrex bowls of different sizes with lids and use them all the time. Rubbermaid containers work well for me, too, and I like their dark red lids. I know people who love the Pampered Chef knives. I used a Victorinox chef’s knife for awhile and loved it, still have it, but these days I tend to grab smaller serrated knives in the drawer. I only buy Baggallini or Kipling purses; they’re the only ones that meet my multi-criteria list of must-haves in a purse. Pricey but worth it to me. The collection of vendors under one roof is a good idea, but still not my preferred method of shopping. Even tho there’s no pressure, I don’t really like someone staring at me behind a booth while I peruse merchandise. I have a hard time going to craft fairs and flea markets for this reason, too. My own personal hang up.

And I used to have quite the load of Princess House pieces.  While I gave a lot of it away to family who needed the bazillion plates and glasses that I had, I kept and still often use the Fantasia pattern bakeware items.  Brownies just aren't right if not made in that pan!

Another Abbie, Abbie Jean Camuso used to promote Monat big time on her instagram account. The scales have fallen from her eyes as she's just posted this

So basically I still want to make money off you, but don’t blame me if your hair falls out because I told you that could happen. But if my hair falls out, I might leave.
