2. If you have to alter multiple words in a short, 3-paragraph statement so that modern people can understand it, perhaps that's a sign that what's being said is not amazingly relevant anymore.

Me: The vast majority of Australians are happy with our current gun laws. We are allowed to own guns, and I have good friends who do, but outside sportsmen and the farmer community guns are not considered a necessity for safety.

Fundie: And quite honestly- ANYONE who supports gun control has serious issues. Gun control IS NOT for the criminals- they don't ever, and will never- play by the rules, period. The statistics span both conservative and liberal government eras, and are simply a collation of easily verifiable information. I only have one fundie friend on Facebook, and most of the time I just ignore her ranting and constant invitations to join her online Bible 'studies'. I spent over an hour writing and rewriting my final response. Sorry about the dodgy copy. I have no idea if I even can screenshot with an iPad. The video in question is a 'documentary' narrated by someone from the US which said that we are suffering higher rates of violent crime due to our strict gun laws. Utter tripe made as propaganda.

Middle school friend who went off the deep end shortly after high school posted this. It unintentionally draws a good parallel. What do we do in order to protect endangered species? We don't just make it illegal to kill them; we lock their members up and force them to breed.

Theyre protected because theyre endangered, there are 7 billion humans, so stopping more of them being born wont make humanity extinct, as there will always be people choosing to have babies.

But what about chicken eggs? Duck eggs? Pigeon eggs? Theyre not protected by law either as theyre common and not in any danger of becoming extinct.

Ugh, someone on my friends list just posted that picture that Perry shared, the one with the hand sized "12 week fetus" that looks way healthier than Josie Duggar did at birth.

I commented that it was fake, and the reasons why (too big and well developed to be 12 weeks, looks healthier than the average micropreemie, and no umbilical cord).

She deleted my post and sent me a messsage saying to stop making rude comments on her statuses, and that she doesnt care whether its real or fake, its the message behind it that counts. She also said she just reposts things, doesnt mean she totally believes them to be truthful, and if I dont like it I shouldnt comment.

She said the same thing about the variety of Sandy Hook, gun control and anti Obama statuses as well. I give up arguing with her, but some of the things she posts are so rediculous I cant help myself.

Sadly, that is a thing but only among a very small minority. I know it's in Tanya, not sure if it's in the Talmud. The belief is that gentiles will be the servants of Jews in the world to come (after the messiah arrives). I've definitely seen women on imamother and a few other sites discuss how Jews will be a nation of priests in the world to come and how gentiles will be their servants. How people interpret that differ. A few seem to perceive it as slavery, most who believe in this seem to think it refers to Jews being priests and gentiles fulfilling all other roles.

It's amazing how many people feel that way. I remember seeing a survey at one point where people would be more willing to elect an open/admitted Muslim as president over an atheist. And considering the anti-Islam attitude in the US, that's saying something.

Even my own mother thinks that way, to some degree :(

I saw that one from crazy friend as well. She couldnt possibly accept that it was probably a mistake. I thought her RIP Adam Lanza status was sick and wrong, especially considering she has never posted anything like that about all of the children who he shot.

If he was dead the day before, whos body was recovered from the school and identified as his? Who did the witnesses see kill all those children and then shoot himself? Why would they go to the trouble of finding someone who looked like him, brainwashing them into shooting children and shooting themselves. It makes no sense.

Can anyone tell me how to not see posts from certain people on FB....and does that make it so I won't see their comments as well? I just can't take my asshole Republican "They took 'er guns, this is 'Merika" cousin ANY MORE. If I completely unfriend him (and his bitch of a wife) it will cause bitchiness. I'd rather just not have to see them post.

On top of that, I've heard you can send posts to just certain people. Do you know how to do that in a way they don't know you're doing it? I would love to FB bomb HIS page with a nice stream of your post was idiotic and here is one to prove it wrong kind of thing.

Hover over the name, then hover over Friends. When the menu comes up, uncheck "show in news feed". You won't see their posts any more.

I don't think you can FB bomb them without them knowing it's you. You can set up your preferences with some people as acquaintances, and then set some posts to friends (not acquaintances), so as to hide certain posts from certain people, but you can't anonymously bomb them.

I hide a fundie Catholic convert friend. I just can't deal with her vitriol on a regular basis. I check in now and then, but I'm pretty sure she's hidden me, too.

Thanks! I've moved them to acquaintance. I guess what I meant to say was I know they'll know it's me, but can I just send posts to them but make it look like I'm sending it to everyone? Will it do that if I move them to acquaintance? The way I read it, it seemed like anyone on the acquaintance list would see each other's names, but they wouldn't see they were on "the list". That way, I can concentrate my anti-douchebaggery efforts towards them and not make the rest of my non crazy fundie nut job friends be inundated. I did tell him off pretty good and he was put in his place by a woman, so yay me! lol He also either had no comeback or blocked me, too.

I just can't stand these few family members. Thank goodness they are all geographically close to each other and nowhere near me, so I never have to see them. I have quite a few LGBT family members, not to mention friends, and there have been LGBT family members for at least a few generations back. Not only do these people regularly post LGBT hate speech on FB where their 12 and 10 yo children have accounts against the rules, but some of those family members are also on FB, and I can't imagine how that would feel to them, to know someone who is supposed to love them could be like that. And then of course, there's the Obama is a Muslim terrorist socialist communist Nazi non-American citizen antichrist who wants to take our guns drivel.
