I have yet to see a detox that wasn't a low calorie diet combined with laxatives.

Most recent fundie facebook posts: "Israel we apologize for Obama" "I never met one veteran that enlisted to fight for Socialism." (wtf??)

Spanish Civil War, anybody? Abraham Lincoln Brigade?

People, I looked and looked, but I couldn't find anywhere in my Bible that it says to be more tolerant.

Mark 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

My fundy Catholic acquaintance posted this. Mr. Minerva and I laughed our asses off at it.

Here's what she captioned it with:

"Wondering why your relationship is not working? Why doesn't (s)he commit? The answer is, probably, that one or more of these steps were done out of order."

This drives me crazy.. I know someone who has had an abortion, and she knows that life begins at conception. She just wasn't ready for a child (it was 20 years ago-- she was a teen). You can have an abortion and still recognize life beginning at conception.

I don't even understand the "life begins at conception" stuff. What, are eggs and sperm not alive?

Personally, I think life begins at 30, but the "life begins at conception" argument makes me roll my eyes so hard because - who cares? I don't care if you're a four-cell zygote or an 89 year old grandmother of 15, no one else has the right to live inside of someone else's body against that person's wishes.

A friend of mine from high school went off the deep end sometime in College, she's homeschooling and definitely has Reformed Slut Syndrome. She posted this little gem this morning:

I'm a sinner married to a sinner and raising three sinners, and it's only by the Grace of God that we make it through each day.

And that before coffee. My eyes almost rolled out of my head.

Gem of the day, not Facebook, but another website I am on. Apparently covering the fact that some people are gay in school, is like inviting the KKK to give a presentation. Thread was closed immediately but I needed to vent about the stupidity/homophobia in this comment!

What was the half-arsed logic behind that one? I need more details.

She didn't even try. Some things don't belong in our schools and schools shouldn't just blatantly be presenting "diversity" to expose kids to different viewpoints. Would you want your kids to listen to a presentation by the KKK? That was pretty much it. Basically that you cannot just be all "yay diversity!" because it's a slippery slope... or something.

edited because yes, I can actually construct a sentence

It is entirely possible that some people make an enzyme that helps them to break down and absorb iron from vegetable matter or similar, which eliminates the need for meat. This would be evolved in areas where vegetables are easier to acquire than meat, similar to the lactase gene.

I get sick if I do not eat it occasionally. I need maybe 2 servings a week, not a huge amount. Without it, I get measurable and medically verifiable symptoms that are typical of low iron and protein intake, even if I am ingesting massive amounts of vegetarian protein and iron. I really wanted to be vegetarian for much of my life and kept trying, always ending with pretty serious health problems.

My experience is similar, Emmie. I have cut way back on meat, and probably have it 2-3 times per week at most. I cannot seem to digest many types of legumes (not to mention cruciferous veggies, and apples, which I love) which makes it hard not to have to eat some animal protein. I eat a fair number of eggs and can thankfully do dairy, though.

I just found this thread, and wow. Emmie Dahl, the Desiree person whose post you commented on regarding the planned parenthood mammogram event? I know her. She is a huge bag of crazy. A friend of hers whom I went to school with is also on my facebook, and she has all kinds of snark worthy posts. I'm not going to back track thru her page to post any here, but as soon as she posts something new (she always has something new) I will post it up here. Me and a friend of mine are friends with her just to snark....

Heart broken for those that lost their babies today. Can't stop loving on mine. Even though we will never understand today's events, I know that I can hold on to the fact that God is still on the throne. Praying for those poor families and a community that is forever changed.

I've been so consumed with this terrible tragedy -- but I laughed when I read this because all I could picture was God on the shitter.

bolding mine.

This from my formerly sane, now fundie Catholic crazy friend:

And then he added this comment below the link:

He's an opportunist, just like every other politician. Monarchy now!

I would leave a snarky reply, but then all his crazy little fundie friends would come out of the woodwork, and I'm not in the mood to argue with all of them.

What monarchy?

ETA: And how would that change anything?

Wish I knew. I've stopped trying to interpret his posts. He used to be so normal.

Some of my (male) fundy fb friends keep sharing posts from tea party, anti-liberal, Ayn Randian, and of course anti-abortion fb pages (the anti-abortion page refers to its supporters as 'abolotionists'--comparing fetuses to slaves, I guess). Anti-obamacare/mandatory birth control coverage, big on 'if a man shall not work neither shall he eat' (why is that verse literal but the countless other verses on caring for the poor are metaphorical?), and I'm just waiting for some outright MR posts. And when I post Bible verses about not stirring up strife or becoming overly concerned with political rhetoric, they throw a fb tantrum posting pictures saying its there facebook and they'll post what they want. *headdesk*

These are people who mostly have zero life experience.

Drives me nuts how certain they are when they have no life experience not even friends to inform their view's.

This from one my less together fundie lite FB friends.

I've said all along that the gun free zones only create killing fields that make it easier for crazies to kill people. WAKE UP!

It was followed by a Tea Party link, of course.

Guns don't kill people. Godless evil Liberals who support child-killing Abortionists and disarming innocent citizens kill people.

I wish I was fucking kidding.

Sprocket, so do I (hug to you).

FB is mightily weird. On mine I have North Korea sympathisers, Eirigi (which I often sympathise with) both sides of a Party split and pretty much every bizarre lefty view you can think of. Sometimes I despair but what can you do...

Thank you, JFC. /hug

I'm giving it to the end of the year before deleting/blocking all of the people who make me viscerally hate humanity -- it's a long story as to why I'm waiting until after the holidays. The only reason I'm keeping it at all is because I enjoy MBoB so greatly.

My darling fundie friend's status started off seeming logical, and then...well...fundie logic.

"If abortion were illegal, women would still have them; if guns were illegal, criminals would still get them. Someone driven by his/her desires will not fail to fulfill them. Evil is the enemy"

Another pro child beating photo, shared by a crazy friend of mine. Crazy friend also said that even though in her country there is a law against spanking, she hit her kid and she turned out just fine. I doubt that considering the rest of the craziness that is her mom, if she turned out OK, its in spite of her mother, not because of her.

They beat their 'kid's asses'? Do they have one child with multiple asses?
