Duggars by the Dozen - General Discussion Part 15

I've adopted three children from foster care, so I know a little bit about the process.

Adoption from foster care probably won't get them what they want, which is a baby. At least in my state, they generally don't want more than a 40 year gap between parents and children.  (Waived if due to birth of a new sibling who has already been adopted by family, or a kinship situation.) Their parenting practices would also be a hurdle here (no homeschooling is allowed, no corporal punishment is allowed, etc.) until adoption is finalized. Arkansas social services may be very different though.

Here, any one over the age of 18 living in the home would have to have a background check and be fingerprinted if they are living in the home. I'm not sure what Josh Duggar's background check would turn up since the police report has been destroyed. (And I'm not sure if he is technically living there either.)

Foster care adoption isn't the right route for them.

I think what the Duggars really want is to "save" babies from poor countries. However, international adoption is really, really difficult right now. A lot of countries have closed adoptions to the U.S. and the few that remain have really long waits or older, special needs kids.

I think their only avenue would be domestic infant adoption-- though how that is  going to fit in with their "savoir" motivation is beyond me. They are a wealthy and have enough fans that I can totally see a private adoption happening -- all that is needed is two lawyers and a pile of cash. Social services wouldn't be involved at all. This would also give them the opportunity to craft their own savior story, which I have no doubt will happen. "She would have been aborted if we didn't step in."

My point is that their ability to adopt, either through an unethical re-homing situation, or through a private adoption wouldn't be as much of a challenge as you'd think. There isn't a strong correlation between ethics and the adoption industry... (not that all agencies are bad, but if you want to find a bad one and have plenty of resources to do it, it's not that much of a stretch.)

I really hope they never pursue this, just as I hope Jessa and Ben don't. M & JB are horrible parents... and would be absolutely dreadful parents to a child who is adopted and has to deal with the issues that brings along with it.

I have an idea...if the Duggars are as wealthy as they say and their goal is to have children in homes how come they do not give money to childless couples who would like to adopt a child.  Now that would be a good idea.  But who am I kidding.

A work friend of mine just posted a photo of himself with JimBob at the northwest Arkansas regional airport with the hashtag "delta perks." So apparently, JimBob is flying somewhere on delta airlines tonight. Let the idle speculation begin.

The annual El Salvador trip ended that day. I don't know if they went, but the dates line up. http://web.archive.org/web/20151202203123/http://www.soshope.org/serve-overseas/

If forcibly touching your siblings isn't a problem... I wonder what the Duggars' think are? Dancing, showing your knees? Wow! Those are HORRIBLE compared to what Josh did. *Eye Roll*

Not logical thinkers. There is no consistency in their thinking. :confusion-confused:

I read earlier today the poor Duggars are getting tired of all the negative feedback they are getting from all directions. It just hurt my poor pea picking heart to think of their pain. Not. I just wonder if they really are that dense? They have no idea why people are turning against their lifestyle and ideas? I find it hard to believe. My remedy is very simple that if you don't like what people are saying about you, get off social media and TV. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Hell, even Jill might be able to eventually come to that conclusion. Just go away...... and stay away.

Duggar Faith

If you dance, it is a sin. If you repent, it is forgiven.

If you show your knees it may be a sin.  If you repent, it is forgiven.

If you kill a person, it is surely a sin.  If you repent. It is forgiven.

If you molest your sisters, it is a sin also.  Repent and it will be forgiven.

If you repent and never do it again you are forgiven by Christ and the rest of us need to forgive you too.

If you do it again, that is a bad sin and people may not be able to trust you for a while, but God will forgive you, if you are sincere in your repentance.

If you cheat on your wife, it is a sin, especially if you are also watching porn and telling people that you stand for family values.  You may need an especially big act of repentance, but if you are sincere, God will forgive you.

If you don't forgive someone who is truly repentant, you are sinning. You may, however, distrust them.

If you sin by not forgiving someone, you can repent, forgiven and be forgiven by Christ.

Since not forgiving is a sin and cheating on your wife is also a sin, then if you repent and your wife doesn't forgive you, she is the greater sinner.

I hope I'm doing this right.   Just saw this on the "Betty Bowers, World's Best Christian Facebook Page".  Thought it was wonderful.

Am I the only that keeps thinking of The Crucible when I read the name Tabitha Paine? That has Puritan written all over it.

OK I really love the line " Being lectured on morality by a Duggar is like being scolded for loitering by a crack whore"

Was there a "Tabitha" in The Crucible?   For me, the first encounter with the name was Samantha and Darrin's little girl on Bewitched

Ya gotta respect a site with users who can relate a fundy's name to an important piece of literature.

In her bio it says " We do not partake in birth control at all, as it is a tool designed by Satan to corrupt and take over the world", which sounds like satire, but you never know with fundies.

I'm not going to lie, I've considered creating a fake fundie blog myself.:pb_lol:

But if God wanted those people to have children, he would have blessed them with children. If they are childless but yearn for a baby, their hearts must just not be pure enough for one.
