Having watched that (thanks for sharing the link), does it JD look more attractive? I think he looks less doofy than in previous interviews.

I see competent PR in this video. PR with an understanding of how things might look to those outside the Duggar's tiny little corner of the world.

Good job, new PR company.

I think he looks just like he always does. What's different, it's a head shot.Face, ears, hair. Sincerity.

I'm in the US and we also did recorders one year in music class. Ages ago though, I don't know if they still do that. Or have music class! Alas, they will LOVE them. One is very into music and makes drums out of everything and wanted instruments. Gotta be better than the nonstop screaming and fighting right? Oh kids!

A 4th grader that comes to our after school center had a recorder a few weeks ago. She said they were just staring to learn to play them, so they still teach them here anyway.

Yep. Our school district has recorder in 4th grade followed by band in 5th. I'm glad there's still music in schools.

I'm so terrified, my husband bought our 4 year old twins recorders OF THEIR OWN for Christmas. I mean, what on earth was he thinking??? :) I'm hoping he puts ear plugs in my stocking.

Lol! Reminds me of a mistake I once made. Don't ever EVER give kazoos as birthday party favors. :brainfart:

My school had band starting at 5th grade and I learned clarinet.  We never had to learn the recorder, but I got one in the 6th grade and learned it on my own.  The music teacher had me accompany the music class Christmas concert on a few songs.  I know my mother was ready to throw it in the garbage. lol

Is it PR Company or just TLC marketing their product?

I remember playing the recorder in music class during elementary school around 2nd grade. Each child received one for free. Next we learned how to play it correctly and a few songs. Then we had a show for our parents. It is a good memory. I still have mine somewhere. Music and art in school is important.

I don't think they give recorders to the kids for free anymore. It's not statewide anymore either. Only the schools that are in wealthy areas. Sad.

I might be wrong, but i interpreted what JD said more of a "well, we all knew what josh did as a teenager might hit the press" but that no one knew that he was cheating on anna.

I imagine the older boys would've known that he did "something" (if not specifics) but they were unlikely to know josh was even doing "something" when he was cheating on Anna. Not as a comment on which is a more shocking act per se, just what news shocked them more. I could be giving them too much of a doubt though...

I should have added that at the time I wrote that comment, I had not seen the clip yet. I agree with you.

I agree that recorders are a very cheap way to get kids involved in music, and to have a chance to learn to learn to read music and play a musical instrument . Many kids go on to play "proper" instruments after compulsory recorder lessons. But I still dread the sound of them, particularly when squealing!  Maybe if they were an octave lower they'd be better?

What's the drinking game for tonight? I think I may honestly try it. I don't have to work until 11 tomorrow. :)

I'll start with some, but please add more!

Take a drink:

- every time someone mentions sin.

- every time JimBoob + MEchelle are shown.

- every time someone says devastating.

- every time Jill cries.

- every time Jessa yells in labor.

- every time Joe says whenever.

Joe improperly using "whenever" drove me crazy in that clip!

This is really going back into the past, but for those who enjoyed snarking on Josie's fake pigtails back when she was an infant, I accidentally ran into the maker's site on Etsy.  (They claim to be sold out, so I am not "advertising" the product.). It also mentions that Jordyn wore them before Josie.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/72427379/the-original-baby-ponytail-faux-pigtail

They also give a link to where you can see Josie wearing them.  I must say, they look cute in a costume-y sort of way.

Ugh...I cannot understand those pigtails. They are too ridiculous for words. And they way the seller says "piggies" reminds me of people who say "ressies" instead of "reservations" on a Disney site I was once on. And "pressies" instead of "presents." Obnoxious.

As much of a scuzzbucket as Josh is he was still their older brother and so I think it may just be hard for them to say it out loud...that's how I took it.

also JD on when he found out his brother cheated on his wife after finding out about him molesting his sisters  "That was a little more of a shock probably than the first stuff coming out." *cringe*

I don't think he means the adultery is more shocking than the molestation. I think he's saying the adultery was more shocking than when the public found out about the molestation. At least, I hope that's what he means. Because while cheating on your wife (with a prostitute, no less) is awful.....molestation is worse.

Ohh we gave our boys these sweet metal kazoos for Christmas when they were like 2 maybe? They LOVED them, but they were cheap and they literally chewed the paint off them. Took 'em away because I was afraid of poisoning them :)

Hearing "whenever" used improperly is like hearing nails on a chalkboard for me. The Duggars have always been grievous offenders, probably thanks to the SOTDRT

Or my poor parents who were stuck with 2 kids playing bagpipes, 1 tenor drum, trombone, oboe, 2 violins and a cello and the saddest sound of all... the first year french horn player. (Sounds like a dying moose - and that's if you are playing WELL)

I think it is possible that they view the affair, porn etc as worse than the molestation, because of the accompanying behavior that went with it.  If the story of the molestations are fairly close to true,  Josh, felt guilt and eventually confessed.  He was a kid, a disturbed kid, to be sure, but he was a kid.   The story the kids old enough to understand were told was that he repented, went to bible therapy camp and was cured.

But now, Josh is an adult,  a public adult who speaks out about the sanctity of family.  Now his actions involve years of lying and and hiding of his true nature.  He didn't, as far as we know,  Come clean with his family at some point and say he was struggling with Porn, and desire and lust for women other than his wife.  Instead he presented to them a manifestation of living what they would view as the perfect Godly life.  So the betrayal probably stings more because now it represents an active choice that Josh made to deceive them all, not just Anna.

Obviously, his actions are most hurtful to Anna, but I can see why the boys are disappointed with their fallen hero.  For all we know, after the molestations,  Josh may have been held up as an example of the power of Christ to change a person,  His admissions of guilt and his subsequent camp experience and confessions to the church, may have all been put as a positive thing to these kids.  We have to remember that their version of reality was far different than how it really happened.  They were told that Josh has sinned, had prayed and repented and was cured through faith.

Now, they have to face the fact that Josh wasn't really cured by faith, but instead, a darkness that made it easy for him to lie to all he loved, was still inside him.  For kids who are naive, and steeped in whacky and twisted religious beliefs, this must be really confusing to them.

I think it is terrible of JB and M, to encourage their kids to speak out about Josh.  These are the people who whined about having their privacy invaded when the first scandal broke out.  They sat on Fox and said it was a private family matter.  Well, guess what,  They are now using that painful private situation, and making money from it.  The level of disgust with these parents just keeps growing.  If they had decided to take their experiences and help others by sharing them, that would be one thing, but this is all just a narcissistic exercise for them all.

And to just clarify my comment above,  I am not saying that I think the cheating is worse the molestation, I am just giving my opinion of how these people may be viewing things.    I imagine they are forgiving of the molestations because "josh was just a kid,  He couldn't help himself", vs.  Josh is an adult,  he lied to us all"

We all know that it is Anna who has the most right to be anger over the cheating, but I do understand why his sibs, especially those that looked up to him feel duped by his years of lying and feel really disappointed in him.  I just think it is wrong for them as a family to profit from this.

I still maintain that Josh is a very public manifestation that is a symptom of they dysfunction in that family.  He witnessed it all, he lived through his parents become more and more radicalized in faith.  And now, people wonder why he is broken?

It's part of their regional dialect. Definitely not from the sotdrt. I linked to some research on it a while back, but I can't find it now.

Yes, definitely less doofey. I thought that too. Maybe he's nature's a little bit this year with everything going down. Nice to see him take on the responsibility of setting a good example for his siblings. Although I'm sure Ma and Pa had influence in that.

Every Dugger child over 18 spoke on camera about Joshgate during the Jill & Jessa special last night.  I'm wondering which Duggers were against going on the show and speaking out, as some of the tabloids reported.  It would have to be JB and Michelle.
