J'Slaves Writing a Book

Cocaine, orgies, and hooker shorts? Yeah, that's totally how I spent my early 20s.

I really thought this book would include more stories about, gee I don't know, growing up in the Duggar compound. Like the name says. I haven't read it, but I'd be hard pressed to file this under self-help. It sounds more like a shit-talking book. "Here's Why You're All Going to Hell"

So in Duggar land rock artists and musicians live to "around forty." Why? "Because many of them die at a young age for reasons related to AIDS, drug or alcohol abuse, or suicides. It's a tragic reality."

Now I'm saying that they all look *good*, but at Josh's aging rate what do they think he'll look like at 70? All these girls have done is regurgitate the stereotypical talking points that roped their parents into this lifestyle 30 years ago. I'm their age and the world they juxtapose themselves against isn't the world I live in. They might have been exposed to more than a lot of kids in the same lifestyle, but they still have no idea how their peers really live.

I am busy 7 days a week between school and work and I have been dating a nice quiet guy who enjoys action figures and his WiiU. I ain't got no time for cocaine and orgies and I don't have the body for hooker shorts. It baffles me how they think we late teens to twenty-somethings live.

J'chelle's made it past 40 but she's looking a good deal older than most women her age. She might not have a history of heavy drinking or drug taking or anything else commonly seen as risky, but gestating 19 babies hasn't exactly done her body any favours. I will be very unsurprised if she doesn't mqke it to whatever the life expectancy is for her demographic in the US.

Jim Bob was saying in one of the interviews yesterday that Michelle looks younger than people her age - and having kids has kept her young. I honestly don't think she looks too old either.

I don't think her genetics or health is on her side...especially with the way they eat, even if she does spend so much time on treadmill. Don't people have a history of dying early in her family? I think one of her sisters recently died in her late 50's and there were a few other family members that died younger too, I believe. It's also been speculated (maybe it was TWOP instead of here) that she has undiagnosed osteoporosis, which could be bad, if it's true.

This does not read like something they wrote.

I can't believe they said Jim Bob and Michelle spend more time with each individual child than most parents with one or two kids do.

CITE YOUR SOURCES DUGGARS! I want you to tell me how often on average "most parents with one more of two kids" spends with their kids, cite your sources, and then prove you spend more time with your 19 kids than "most parents" spend with their own.

How horrible. They are basically saying their family is better than every other family. That is a terrible thing to say.

I would bet on average I spend more time with my one daughter in a week than JB and M spend with each individual child.

based on that graphic/clip I gather Charlie Richards is the ghost writer???

Her mother died around 60, so yes. But I don't know if a history of family members dying early necessarily means anything? If it's not cancer, can it be genetic? Michelle is likely not going to die from osteoporosis.

I just don't understand where fundies get their talking points about the secular world. For example, they claim that organized schools are full of drugs and orgies and talk of secular humanism and Marxism, etc, all of which is easily refuted. Why doesn't anyone challenge the Duggars when they say these kinds of things? Why doesn't the reporter say, "Well, Michelle you went to public school. What kinds of Marxism were you exposed to?" When they say "rockers don't live past forty," why doesn't the reporter say, "What about Tina Turner? Or Paul McCartney? Or Mick Jagger? Or Elton John?" I know JB and Michelle would feign ignorance about who these people are, but someone really needs to call them out on their stupid statements.

This is the study they're touting, by the way. I haven't had the chance to look too deeply, but 90% of the sample size was still alive - the death stats were based on the 100 who died (famous between 1955 and 2005). Out of the 100 the top killer was cancer, followed by substance abuse, and accidents in third.

As more of the sample size dies we'll see this average age start to get pulled in a different direction (I also think we're going to see mummified as a new cause of death- looking at you, Mick Jagger) . It was noted that people who rose to fame after 1980 were less likely to die.

I too would love to talk to them about my school and college experience. There are churches here in Upstate NY more likely to side with Ken Ham than Bill Nye and it's a very red area (hence why I have boogied with no hope of return) and that mixes in to schools like when the soccer coach made church attendance a "team bonding experience." Then I get to college and the professors are too busy teaching what's on the syllabus to share the wonders of socialism/atheism/marxism/baby eating.

More stellar Duggar parenting.

If a sibling is older than you, you HAVE to obey them. You must respect your elders. So if Jessa tells Jordyn to pick up the bedroom, she has to. If Jordyn tells Josie to help, Josie has to help. No questions, no whining, no "You aren't my boss!" If the sibling is older, they are your boss.

I see so many issues with this.

Michelle might not directly die of osteoporosis, but having osteoporosis can lead to falls. I don't remember the exact statistic, but a shockingly high proportion of elderly that experience hip fracture due to falls die within the year.

ETA: *I think it's somewhere in the range of one-fourth to one third, but I could be wrong about that.

Just to clarify: Apparently, a fall is sometimes caused by the hip breaking. Regardless, high death rate.

One of the huge problems with osteoporosis, is that there is an increased chance of fracture in case falls do happen.

I disagree. I think that her hair, skin, and other general signs of age are looking well, but she has the shrunken and frail appearance of a very old woman. And I don't mean she's petite or she's lost weight. It's different. She looks like she's lost bone mass. She looks like my grandmother started to look after a serious battle with cancer.

Whatever she looks, I don't think it's healthy.

I think most of the time Michelle looks ok for her age especially for someone who has had a large family. I know a few women the same age as Michelle and they look younger than she does.

I think Michelle looks fine for her age except for her posture. She always looks so frail and hunched. It's really worrying. I can't help comparing her with my mother who's a few year's older... the way Michelle stands and moves reminds me more of my 71-year-old grandmother.

she does not have to take care of that large family that's a huge difference.

Her posture used to be a great deal better.

I wonder if osteoporosis can be caused or exacerbated by lots of pregnancies? It's perfectly possible that she's just got early onset osteoporosis or another type of issue that is genetic, but I'm definitely curious as to how the numerous pregnancies have affected her health.

Is this the longest she's gone without a pregnancy?

Yes, it is. The poor, sad, shrivelled thing hiding there inside her that is also known as her uterus is crying with joy and starting to feel a little less traumatized and more safe. It might decide to come out from its hiding place behind of her lung, where it has been rocking in a corner crying for the past 4 years.

Yes, the baby takes vitamins from the mother and if she isn't getting enough for both of them, baby comes first. There was an old saying before modern understanding of health that "you lose a tooth for every child", and that would have been why.
