I like the fact that she said “when the kids are bigger”. To me this indicates that they are not planning to fill the house with kids. She could have said that she’s not sure when she would be able to study photography because they don’t know when she will stop having babies. I get the feeling that they are comfortable with 2 children but maybe 3.

They have never seemed like a couple who would like a ton of noise and chaos. They like nice things. They like their couple time. They will probably want to have the kids in nice clothes and activities. In the book they said they waited a year before getting pregnant, so they are ok with some form of planning.
I think their two little girls probably fit their family dynamic just fine, but could also see them having one or -possibly- two more. Either by design or as a whoops.
Jinger  is still in her 20’s —- does anyone know how fundamentalists/conservative Christians who practice family planning, but maybe don’t believe in hormonal birth control, feel about vasectomies/tubal ligations? It would SEEM to be ok- no hormones/devices with a possibility of disrupting a fertilized egg. Just prevents the egg/sperm meeting, like a permanent, more effective, barrier method.

As far as the tik-toks - the amazed one seems to be gaining followers- so far just a couple of reaction videos of the two of them watching gymnastics and someone falling on stairs. Nothing religiousy at all. It will be funny if they do tik-tok dance challenges - which can tend to be very defrauding lol.

@Mama Mia The original Duggar website used to have a link to vasectomy reversals for the Lord so I'm guessing that's off the table. If JinJer were to go that route it would be a significant departure from Duggar doctrine. I'd imagine they'd do hormonal BC or IUD before that.

I think Jeremy would love to have a boy, so I doubt they’re done at this point. However, I think 3 or 4 would definitely be his hard limit-

From your lips to Rufus's ears. Not wanting to have his wife perpetually knocked up might be this guy's only redeeming quality.

I agree. Jeremy strikes me as the type who wants a boy, either because he envisions himself doing manly things with a son or for ego purposes. I’ve known several non-fundie men who were the same way (and usually ended up with all daughters).

I think they’ll go for a boy and stop. However, I also think even if they don’t get a boy, they’ll stop at 3 or 4. They don’t seem to want a horde, and I don’t see either of them doing well with swarms of kids.

Jeremy doesn’t seem like he’d have an issue getting snipped.

Just the wording of this, "flaunts her legs on a walk", is horrible.  She's wearing shorts because it's hot outside, not to show off.  I wish they would stop doing this - the negative attention only discourages the others from doing the same

I wonder if Jeremy will encourage his daughters to play soccer.

Haven’t we already seen video of him helping Felicity learn to play soccer? I vaguely think she has a little soccer net in the yard. Of course, that’s not the same thing as worldly competitive sports.

Hard disagree. I think Jeremy would consider a vasectomy sacrelige and a loss of his manhood. No way he gets the snip.

She looks - quite rightly - pissed off at being followed and papped in those pictures. But then, I suppose, I clicked the link to have a nosey, and I'm sure others did too, so the interest in Jinger In Shorts is there.

"Flaunts legs" sounds like something a 1920s man would say, after horrifyingly discovering that women do indeed have legs. Fella would have been traumatised!

yeah but quite a lot of things the kidults do is a departure from Duggar doctrine. They seem to be conscious that the specific ways in which their parents were convicted to live their faith was a personal choice, and that they don't need to replicate it wholesale. Jinger wanted to be able to wear fashionable clothes and live in a city, and she found a godly guy who would facilitate that lifestyle in a respectable way; I think if she wants to limit her family size then she and Jeremy will be able to justify that too.

I think also the Duggars were quite performative in their lifestyle once they had the TV show (and before, actually, setting yourself apart so visibly is a statement), not faking it but maybe hyper-real, extra to an extent that a lot of fundies weren't. The kidults have socialised with families whose values are the same as theirs but who don't have a TV show and whose choices are perhaps less intense. They know it is possible to wear shorts, have a peck before marriage, or limit family size without rejecting doctrine.

I think there will be multiple Duggar kids with small families. When you start off married at 18-23, of course you think you will do things like your parents. But all adults start to form their own opinions as they age and especially as they hit 30. I know Fundies are different, but I still think they will make changes for their own family as they are fit once they are older and have experienced more of life. That’s why I like to see them marry when they are older than 25.

I wish Kendra's mom would explain the concept of natural family planning to her.  The Caldwell's kids are at least somewhat spaced out and they "only" have 9-10 children.  I think Kendra and Joe would probably be okay with spacing their kids out a bit but I don't think they're bright enough to figure out how to do it.  I'm not saying that they don't drink the kool-aid but I'm not sure that they expected to have so many so fast.  If they keep up this pace then they may very well have more than 19 kids.

I’m pretty sure the basics are common knowledge even to Joe and Kendra - I believe she’s struggled some with breastfeeding, which would likely make her more fertile more quickly after each birth. But for them they very well may try to hit maximum number of kids, they seem the most temperamentally suited, hyper religious, calm, and not as into all the outside activities - just actual homebodies.
Physically, so far she’s had smooth pregnancies, births and recoveries. They have tons of help readily available, from both sides of the family, and are right there next to the big house. And Kendra seems to have a genuinely warm and loving relationship with the tween/teen Duggar girls - who would likely love to go spend time helping out until they get married off. Absolutely no one should have 19+ kids. But if any of them do, Joe and Kendra seem like the best bet.

Good points. I agree and definitely expect the kidults to deviate from the script even more in the future (I wonder who will be the first divorce)

I still think getting a vasectomy would be significant judging by the way Jinger cried when talking about deciding to wear pants. Many *modern* conservative denominations are weary of vasectomies/tubal ligation.

The mainstream LDS church discourages against vasectomies and tubal ligations, but they are not forbidden. My cousin’s husband had the V done after she gave birth to four kids in very quick succession after other methods failed and her body was damaged due to the short spacings. With those exceptions (and elective abortion which is expressly forbidden), birth control is left to the couple to decide.

I would be shocked if a Duggar used surgical means to prevent pregnancy.

Beyond the Dillards, I would be shocked if a Duggar or In-law admitted to sterilization, but would not be surprised if they actually did it and never mentioned it. The babies just stopped coming…voila or walla as Jessa would say.

I expect a lot of not announced changes from what JB and M did have and will occur.  The looser the financial strings, the more quiet changes.

Wait…their stated values are based on how much they profit from said values? Who would have thunk it!

Is anyone else getting really irritated with the dumb pictures of the girls? Shadows, the tops of their heads, their backs? I sort of understand wanting to protect the girls, and that's their right, but I dont like the way they are doing it.

Of course I'm irritated at seeing them go out to eat all the time and Jeremy's holier-than-thou pompous attitude. Maybe I'm just fed up with them altogether and need a break.

I think they are one of the most boring couples on instagram. Their kids made them slightly more interesting. They should just get rid of their Instagram accounts. They are boring and repetitive.

If they were showing pictures of the girls all the time people would claim they were using them as props (see the Alyssa and Carlin threads). They’re giving the girls privacy for the time being and it’s something more and more celebrities are doing. I just stumbled across Jamie Lynn Spears Insta and noticed that she has blurred her daughters’ faces in all their recents pics, Chris Hemsworth rarely shows his kids faces (he and his wife are fond of the “hair in front of their face shots”), no one would recognize Matt Damon, George Clooney, or Ryan Reynolds kids. Harry and Meghan have made sure Lili hasn’t been seen often, and they made their last Christmas card obscure enough that no one would recognize Archie.

This is a can’t win situation for them…they showed pictures and people said they were using them as props; they didn’t show any and people asked why they were hiding them. Right now the Vuolo girls have a lot more privacy than the average influencer’s kids who are basically vlogging their life from morning til night. They might change their stance in the future, but for now, I appreciate that the little girls have privacy.

Well, Jer's back in class. He shows off his top of the line MacBook, legal pad, and a sad fountain pen.

I predict this will be the first and last pic we get from Seminary for the rest of the year. 🙄

Jeremy and Jinger are hardly in the same class as Matt Damon, George Clooney or Harry and Megan. Even if they would like to think so.
