Remember the days when we got snark fodder like how Teri puts Steve's toothpaste on his toothbrush for him?

Wait... Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait...

Teri puts toothpaste on her husband’s toothbrush?

She... She does this? Seriously? He can’t do it himself?

Reminds me of the scene in ‘The Last Emperor’ were the Emperor Puyi chastised a servant for giving him his toothbrush without toothpaste on it.

But I guess in Steve’s mind he is an emperor. Hey Steve, things didn’t end so well for Puyi.

How else would she verify that Steve brushed his teeth? ?

Exactly! It's not like they are provisioning the entire US Marine Corp for entry into a war zone!

When I saw Terri taking the photo I thought "Hi "Gal 2" I wondered if the kids wouldn't enjoy the bread sticks on your list too much. These look much less appealing. Shall I double-up on them for you?"

I wonder if other shoppers ever wonder why they are taking pictures of such mundane, everyday events.  Steve had to have taken the picture of her taking that picture...bizarre.

Whenever this comes up I’m reminded of something my ex husband told me. He spent some years in Thailand, some of them with a woman who wasn’t exactly a prostitute but worked as a bar girl and lived in a series of beneficial relationships with western men. And she used to put the toothpaste on his toothbrush. It’s the only other time I’ve ever heard of anyone doing that for their adult partner, and it just makes me think, especially as Steve spent time in SE Asia with the airforce.

And yes Sarah, I can believe they delivered the groceries to each family.  Despite your incredulity those of us with different belief systems also do favors for people.

That's what I was going to comment!

Sarah basically wrote nothing about nothing.  The Maxwells may claim this is a blog but it's likely closer to an Instagram.

Thomas the Tank Engine was a large part of my childhood, but I'm not familiar with any of the 21st century content.  I was never an especially deep enthusiast, though I did collect a fair amount of Thomas wooden railway sets, and we already had a reasonably large Brio wooden train collection with which the Thomas sets are compatible.  Well except that Toby doesn't go around the tighter corners.

I’m going to say no to Terri smiling under her mask. She is looking rough. Have we really had many pictures of her in a graphic t? Where is the J.Jill knit shirt or a blouse from Coolwater Creek? Quarantine hasn’t been kind to Terri.
Did anyone else spy the package of Godiva chocolates in the front of the cart near Terri’s hand? I bet Stevehova did not approve.

Somehow I am not shocked at the amount of groceries in their carts, even if they are shopping for multiple families. I can't imagine giving Teri a grocery list with more than some generic items like milk, eggs etc. I'm sure she'd judge any unusual requests or quantities.

Imagine someone asking them to pick up some Pepsi?

The Maxwells judge everything, but since Steve’s health scare made them realise they were making an idol of adequate calories I feel like they would by particularly judgy about food.

I used to work for a non-profit organization and we put out an urn of  coffee every morning with just a donation jar. Almost no one donated. It was that Kirkland coffee in Teri's cart and that stuff was nasty. I started buying a nice French roast, which worked out to just a few cents a cup more. Then, after a couple of weeks, we put a notice in the newsletter that if people liked the new coffee, perhaps they would consider donating to cover the increased cost. Almost immediately we were breaking even on our coffee expense. I don't see the Maxwells drinking so much coffee that buying premium locally-roasted beans would break the budget. Of course, it's possible for good coffee to become an idol.

I am not shocked either. I was thinking along another line. We know, from Teri’s holiday meal plans that they plan meals down to the amount of lettuce used on a burger. I wouldn’t he surprised if the daughters-in-law do this.

“Let’s see, 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese per child, per meal. We’re having cheese in three meals this week so.....”

I bet they plan their food consumption so carefully that they really don’t buy much, relatively speaking.

So I put toothpaste on my kids toothbrushes- as I don't trust them. I questioned myself for a minute when I saw the snark about Teri doing it for Steve. Then I realized my kids had limited time being "independent" in this area and were still learning while Steve has been in charge of his own teeth for at least half a century.

thanks.  I just got in from shopping and looking for vegan sausages, oddly enough.  Will google to see where I can find beyond.

I love impossible but haven't found any in the store yet.

Costco and Sams club that I know of, sell their own cooler bags, nice insulated totes that zip shut and have strong handles and tons of room.  We have several in each car as the stores are at least 30 minutes from our home, and we've been in enought traffic jams on the interstate that we travel from home to town and back those bags are lifesavers. Plus they lie flat when not in use.   I don't know the current price be I don't think I have paid more than $20 for one.

Outside of Maxwell world, I can't see planning meals out this detailed. Some days my children have a bottomless pit for a stomach and other days they eat lightly. I could see buying big bags of rice or flour, and giving some to each family. I bought far more than that at my recent Costco trip for my family of five.

Those are the best bags!  We’ve used one as a beach bag when we’ve cruised for at least 10 years and it’s still in perfect shape. They’re large enough to hold two towels and a few beers and water bottles.

I do have a non-fundie acquaintance that seems to do something like this detailed planning.  She once told me that she plans meals and snacks so carefully that, at the end of the week, they are out of food. I don’t know if she meant LITERALLY out of food. But it was enough that when her car was in the shop, she was in a bit of a panic that she might miss her grocery day.

As far as I know this was not because of finances but because she just managed her pantry that way.

Yikes. At the start of the pandemic when everyone was busy stripping the supermarket shelves I went through my pantry and freezer and came up with 21 dinners I could make just from what I had on hand or had already made and frozen. We would have run out of things like milk and wine, and would have eaten a lot of jam sandwiches for lunch, but that's about it. I hadn't stocked up for a pandemic but earthquakes are always a possibility and the winter before this we were snowbound for 10 days.

The idea that the quarantine would only last for three weeks makes me laugh now but we were never in danger of going hungry. We did use up my large stash of dried beans and grains,  the freezer was nearly empty for a while, and we polished off some of our packaged backpacking meals but even when the stores had restocked I didn't feel any need to rush out and buy groceries.

I find it quite staggering that Sarah has no idea that other people also shop for family (and friends) and deliver. I’m think the Maxwells honestly believe they are the only family on earth who:

-love each other

- get along

- do each other favours

- have helped each other through the pandemic

Can you imagine the horror of a sister (a gal!) called Steve and Teri on their cell phone mid-shop and said “oh could you also pick us up some chocolate muffins? They weren’t on my list but we’re craving some!”

Steve (I know you read here) this really isn’t unique to your family. Guess what? My family have also been shopping and ordering for each other during this pandemic - and before!

Also (shock horror) if I or my friends or family are going on vacation (or heck even just to a more specialist store) there is normally a message sent before hand saying “would anyone like me to get anything while I’m there?” “Would anyone like anything from duty free?” It’s called being nice and it’s not just your family - and most people are more humble with it.

Do you think Teri ever sees something and thinks “Oh, Melanie might like that. I’ll pick that up for her.”?

I know, financially, that is not always feasible, but I love doing that kind of thing - a box of tea bags, a pack of cookies, a jar of jelly. Do the Maxwells do spontaneous things like that? That, of course, is a rhetorical question because we all know they do not.

Not the same but sort of similar:

My produce drawers in the refrigerator have to both be empty at the same time, once a week, and I wipe them out when they are. I’m just weird that way. That‘s why we have a lot of stir frys and soups and stews on Tuesdays...I just chop up anything that’s left and use it in something. My husband has been shopping once a week in Wednesdays, when the new ads come out and the drawers get refilled then.

I hate things languishing in the produce drawer and turning yucky.

I kind of think they do believe that. I think they think The World* is a terrifying place where everyone is doing evil, horrible things every second of the day, so of course they wouldn't grocery shop for each other!

New post up, this is about Sunday dinner and it infuriates me for many reasons, Sarah implies that the emergency for the coronavirus is over, Anna Marie is with them and $rom what she writes it seems that now they don't care to be careful about Anna Marie health anymore since she is home. I'm just speechless. She is not sane just because she has ever the chemo, for now, she is at great risk because of her compromised immune system even more! I better stop or I will start using bad words and I'm trying really bad to don't do it
