Duggar Business Investigated by Homeland Security 2

I also just popped over to the Fundie Wonderland page. Could someone enlighten me? How is it possible (or is it) for law enforcement to say a person will be arrested in a week. Doesn’t that kind of information give someone a chance to flee or destroy evidence?

I just want to understand how an arrest could be imminent- IF this is all true - but they are still waiting.

Also, I admit I read these articles and yell “JUST ARREST THEM ALREADY! I want a perp walk.”

If they were raided by homeland security, the officials have already taken all of the evidence needed. And anyone guilty knows they are in deep doo doo and will be arrrested soon. If they aren't a major flight risk or a vilent offender there usually isn't a dramatic arrest. Many people are served notice of their arrest warrant and given a certain number of hours to turn themselves in, then drive to the police station on their own.

Thank you for the explanation. I probably should stop watching Law & Order reruns.

I hope it's something for tax evasion and not anything to do with harming children. But in any case.

Spoiler

Not the first time a Quad Cities area auto dealer got caught doing something it shouldn't.  The former Chevy dealer down there got busted for some shady practices.

Quote

The move is part of a settlement reached this week involving a lawsuit between Lujack's owners and General Motors, which manufactures Chevrolet products.

Don Reese, chief operating officer of Gurley-Leep Automotive Family, Lujack's parent company, said the dealership will sell back the franchise to GM as part of the settlement.

The lawsuit in U.S. District Court, Davenport, claimed that Lujack Chevrolet fraudulently reported retail sales and was selling used cars as if they were "like new."

The lawsuit stated that Lujack reported dozens, if not hundreds, of new car sales to GM that were not "bona fide" retail sales at all. The vehicle titles were transferred to other dealerships owned by Leep Chevrolet, which purchased Lujack in 2007, and the vehicles were sold to the public as "used" vehicles that were "like new," the lawsuit stated.

One of the dealers on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities picked up the franchise and moved their entire operation up to Davenport.   Lujacks always seemed a bit shady to me so I was glad to see them getting the boot.

I saw that as well. 2019 is not looking like a good year for the Duggar family.

Would they ever leave it to someone to turn themselves in after Thanksgiving or something?

They might. It would make it easier on everyone. No one wants to work on a holiday and if they aren’t doing the perp walk anyway it makes sense to delay it.

Plus these are white males who are either members of a TV family or associates of the members of a TV family.

Could they be waiting until after the baby? Prehaps to arrest him if it’s not an urgent arrest. Maybe they know this will get media attention and he will get sympathy if he is not there (sleeping) for the birth?

I'm kind of hoping it is child porn- but that computer generated kind that doesn't directly harm a child but is still completely illegal. I just want something totally unforgivable to finally take these bastards out and erase any chance of any of them ever having political power ever again.

Not to mention Jim Bob's political associations. He may not be in office, but you can bet he is still close with some people in power.

If you are talking about  things like Japanese  Shotocon and Lolicon* And the Equivalent are revolting and complete perversion but they are not technically Illegal And a very gray area in the US. It’s not going to get you raided by HLS at least.

But a Duggar is very likely to search out such Niche Foreign stuff. They are pretty vanilla.

*Manga And art depicting sex between and with very young children. Take my word and don’t look it up unless you want to lose your soul.

Thanks for the clarification. For things like this I always get torn between: 'does this even exist? what is this?' and 'I really do not want to google this'.

Always nice if then someone can give you a hint of what it would be without having to really see it. ?

It does sound really bad.

On the topic of what crime it will be: I am on board with @baldricks_turnip. On the one hand, childporn would definitely put an end to the Duggar fame forever. But because it would mean innocent victims I still hope that it is some sort of financial crime.

If they were seriously expecting to arrest him for child porn offenses, would they be happy to leave him temporarily with his children? I know that people who download sick stuff might draw a line at actually abusing real children  (I don't mean that they're any less horrible than the people who make the material, just that people make all sorts of distinctions in their heads and justify all manner of awful things to themselves)  but I wouldn't have thought that any Law Enforcement agency would be willing to take the risk. The cynic in me thinks that Homeland Security really doesn't need the negative press.

I'm going to bet that the D's are up to their necks in dirty finances, but, as always, it's a matter of waiting and seeing (and taking whatever gossip is buzzing around the track with a truckload of salt.)

The federal investigation into Jared Fogle's child porn and child sex solicitstion began in 2007, his house was finally raided on July 7, 2015- computers and hard drives were seized during this raid. His arrest warrant was issued August 19, 2015, and his attorney escorted him to the police station to turn himself in. He lived in his home with his wife and children during that time.

Unfortunately, our legal justice system moves very slowly and doesn't do enough to protect victims and potential victims.

And if they actually are touching or taking pictures of kids, they should be stopped ASAP.

A 15 year old groping his 5 year old sister didn't seem to hurt much, they're still on TV and have an internet social media presence.

Because that happened years ago and Josh was still a boy plus they said he was never convicted and got treatment of some sort The PTB show runners could get by with keeping the show on. Of course if that happened now the show would be pulled immediately.

It should have ended everything, but think it had the opposite effect.  After pulling in ratings and garnering even more attention by milking the victims' pain, TLC scrubbed Josh from the new show, and diminished the roles of those still living in the tinker toy house.  Courtings, marriages, and babies have kept it all going. I remain convinced that much of this was pushed by Jim Bob in conjunction with TLC.   Shrewd bastards, the lot of them.

Maybe if there are crimes against customers of the car lots and those crimes involve Duggars other than Josh, things will change.  Allow your son to get away with molesting your daughters?  Well, that was a long time ago. Jesus has forgiven them.  Cheat the good people of Northwest Arkansas?  Off with their heads!

While I hope that JB is involved, my wish is also that some of the adult kids are caught up in this. If it's "only" JB, I'd worry that TLC will just cut him out of the show, claim that Counting On is about the adult kids anyway, and just keep on running with it. And if it's just Josh, then I think it'll have almost zero effect on the show.

So here is hoping for financial shennigans that take this whole hateful family down once and for all.
