I'm enjoying the super transparent video Jedidiah posted on Instagram of Champion Motors. Just to show off the Christmas decor, of course, he definitely wasn't trying to dissuade rumors that they're closed for business!

Also chuckling at how his comments are turned off. Taking notes from Anna (and probably Trump), I see!

Champion Motors is not Josh's business or the one that was closed down, if I understand everything correctly.  Wholesale Motorcars is the one that has been closed down and is associated with Josh.  I was initially confused, but I think I have it correct now.

It seems like waiting to arrest someone suspected for such a horrible crime would basically just give them the chance to kill themselves before they have to go to jail.

I doubt it’s true. And I really hope I’m right this time! I don’t want any more children suffering because of Josh.

That's the scenario that happened with Mark Salling, the guy from Glee, that was caught with child pornography. He was arrested, released and then committed suicide prior to his sentencing.

I think I understand now, sorry, I think I was reading that incorrectly.

By the way, I can see there are 30 comments and I could leave one if I wanted to, but I don't. :D

NLQ is reporting child porn was found on computers seized from the car lot.  If true this may be the end of the Duggars on TLC.

Hmmmm - Computers at the car lot.   So, they aren't allowed to get on the internet until they are married (IIRC) so, is there a possibility that some of the unmarrieds might be 'exploring'?

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, I haven’t done a great job of keeping up with this thread....

Wondering if it’s possible that this whole thing is not actually an investigation into a Duggar but actually involves Caleb Williams. I believe he worked at one of the car lots at one point and already has been charged with sexual offenses involving a minor. Perhaps there was evidence that ended up on a work computer? Total speculation on my part but it makes as much sense as anything else and fits with the statement that no family members are being investigated...

When I used to go to the North Georgia State Fair, Georgia Right to Life had a table and they had medically inaccurate plastic models of the fetus at different stages of development that would have been perfect for putting on a Christmas tree. I have no doubt that someone has used these models for decorating purposes.

Yeah, a three week embryo looks NOTHING like a baby at term.

If I recall correctly, those little figures are somewhat embellished to look “more baby” like in the early stages, too (so they are more relatable, I guess?)

Well whatta ya know?  They even come in different skin tones.  Now, many years ago I had occasion to see many babies born, and most seem to be born of similar tone, even full term.  Sigh.

Spoiler

They have skin.

I think that may be a damned if you do or don't type thing tbh.

People figure them using pink as a default is racist but that's what they all are until very close to birth if not after.

I know this is BEC, but I’m annoyed that the darker skinned fetuses are called “ethnic” while the lighter skinned ones are apparently just the default for humanity and get no descriptors. I don’t think fetuses that young even have skin, much less skin color, but it’s just another window into the presuppositions that guide the pro life movement.

You are correct about the skin:  Fetuses earlier than 22 or 23 weeks DO NOT have skin, but rather a gelatinous coating.  That's one of many reason why the age of viability can't go lower than what it currently is.  The best we can hope for is for improved outcomes among very premature infants.  There's been a ton of progress in 30 years since I had my 26 weeker, Katherine.

Ok, if the smallest "pre-born baby" models are on the bottom & the largest ones are at the top, I would want to scream every time I looked at that tree (well, I'd want to scream anyway). Just imagining how weird, unbalanced, & top-heavy that would look is making my brain hurt. It should be littlest on top, biggest at the bottom, & the life-sized baby Jesus in a manger on the floor.
What tree would support a life-sized baby Jesus anyway?
Yes, I'm weird. I'll be thinking about this all day now.
And now I want a fetus tree just so I can do it right, lol!

Bottom line for me is that I believe they add pigment to be able to make them “relatable” and more “human” so it’s harder to imagine “killing” (aborting) them.

It is true that regardless of background or sex, or even species, very young embryos all start off looking similar. Making models of them make it hard to see them as “baby humans”, which is what the very pro life crowd want people to see.

Perhaps I am not wording this correctly and the last thing I want to do is offend people.  I am personally pro choice, but my point is that people who run these booths have these models to appeal to people and they are not accurate in their representations.

There has! My friend had a child in week 26 a few years ago and he is a healthy little boy now, he has a little asthma and is a bit shorter then avarage but otherwise he’s fine. He was really tiny at birth. It’s amazing what they can do. I’m sorry about Katherine! ♥️

While I don’t doubt that there are actual people decorating with these pregnancy-models out there, I think that Instagram account, at least, might be fake:

1. No followers. Only two posts. This one and another bizarre one full of random hate.

2. Agree that the tree would be completely top heavy and random for Christmas.

3. They only follow Duggars/Bates so looks more like a troll.

4. I think fundies in general usually don’t refer to people as “heathens” (excepting Westboro I guess). Typically it’s “lost,” “unsaved,” “unreached,” or something sort of patronizing-nice.

5. Also the screen name Brian plus Brynn? OK ?

6. They only link to generic prolife page.

The only thing that gives me pause is vacuums. Why?!?!?

Also, the post says models of 3week gestation??? Even fake models wouldn’t even have that andvthese ones for sale are 11 weeks.

OK I’m done. That post really got under my skin.

Target group for plastic embryo and fetus ornaments?

The group that fights and votes for restricting AFDC, HeadStart and hot lunch programs, and those who cheer separating immigrant children from their mothers at the Southern only border, and housing them in cages.

Wait - could the vacuum thing be a sly joke about abortions? It makes me lean toward someone trolling them.
Well played, Brian & Brynn. Well played.
