Whenever I think it's got quiet around here something like this happens.

Could someone enlighten this uninformed Scot as to what Homeland Security is? I thought it was counter terrorism.

I wonder if it turns out to be not related to the Duggars after all if they will try to sue Homeland Security for the first announcement that they had been to the Duggar's house.

ETA, that just seems like a Duggary thing to do

That is a very Duggary thing to do, but I don't think they will do that. If anything they can go after the original news source who took Homeland Security's quote by saying the compound was raided. The original quote was they were present at the address, most likely they went there to let Josh know they were raiding his business.

I just want the Duggar's to make a statement about this. They only dispute they weren't getting raided at home. Now, everyone on social media is monitoring their comments and avoiding questions about Josh's business. At some point they are going to have to address the situation especially if Josh did end up, whether knowingly or unknowingly, sell cars that were not good.

I am just entertained that someone adjacent to the super holier-than-the-rest-of-us-heathens Duggars has an involvement in the medical marijuana business.

It has been our more "mega Church" friends that have been extolling the virtues of CBD oil.  It seems to be particularly attractive to folks who use essential oils.   They don't seem to have any issue with the CBD.

It will be interesting to see how it rolls out, a CBD storefront popped on the edge of our neighborhood.  They seem to be rolling with it.

I wonder if it could even be something unrelated to the Duggar’s/ car dealership, but more to one of the cars or a purchaser / seller of a car? Maybe someone off loaded a car used in a serious crime and they are looking for evidence? Or a car purchased from the lot was identified in a crime and they were searching for the owners info?
Probably not, just a possibility. Used cars can have some history

This was my assumption as well, as fun as I've found all the wild speculation. We've seen the limo episode this season - they buy across state lines and that's already a federal issue if there is a problem. And like they'd realize if a mob boss was unloading his fleet - they'd have no clue what they were dealing with. "Few bullet holes - guess they hunt."

@Flyinthesoupthanks for the link to the medical pot story.  Looks like his law partner is Rep. Bob Ballinger, whose campaign Jed worked on.  His son, Bobby Ballinger, is Austin’s brother in law.

It could be that Story is the main target, but the Duggars are more than a wee bit close to these fine, upstanding citizens.

I completely agree, the Duggars can't be ignorant in these matters, at least not Josh.  There were more things popping up in my search, but it was hard to keep it all organized.  Those connections are all too close and comfy for my liking.

Hi @unsafetydancer! Now I have the "Men Without Hats" song stuck in my head! ?

From the U.S. Department of Homeland Security website:

"The Department of Homeland Security has a vital mission: to secure the nation from the many threats we face. This requires the dedication of more than 240,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector. Our duties are wide-ranging, and our goal is clear - keeping America safe."

Well the Duggar’s definitely aren’t safe for America - or anywhere else given they legitimately think a religious state would be awesome...

that said I feel like this is something White collar, we’d have heard if it was something super gross by now

I'm not sure what the truth is, but I've read several places that the car lot Josh ran is now closed for business? Or at least their web page was shut down after the raid?

If the Feds were interested in a single vehicle involved in a crime that Josh and/or JB had no involvement with, isn't that a very drastic reaction on the part of the Duggars?

So it seems all we know for certain is that the Feds searched/raided Wholesale Motorcars.  I've just looked at photos of the location and, aside from the cars,  there is nothing there but a rundown trailer with a sign that says "no cash, no titles, no keys".

I can only think of two options. The Duggars are possibly doing something illegal relative to the vehicles.  Or the feds are interested in a computer or computers in the trailer.

See this link about a federal indictment that came down earlier this month against an Iowa dealership.

https://www.kwqc.com/content/news/Quad-Cities-auto-dealership-owners-and-other-indicted-on-federal-charges-for-defrauding-customers-565178992.html

Something like this would be right up the Duggars' alley.

Dear Duggers, please read the above so that you can learn how normal people use the word, "defrauded".

Complete overreaction if it was a single vehicle or even a single transaction like the limos. That’s a pretty straight forward. “It was brought to our attention that a vehicle we had purchased at auction was used in the commission of a crime. We are working with the authorities. Our car lot remains open and we have some great deals.” Closing up shop and yanking your website doesn’t say innocent.

The website is still up.

True, but the website is ‘under construction’ with no cars for sale, unlike their other dealership. They also haven’t updated the FB page in two months.

I just went the Josh's car dealership website, they only have one car for sale that is listed. However, there are no photos of the vehicle. Other photos are very generic ones of families having fun. Definitely, not a good look for Josh and company.

So, I just popped over to the group Fundie Wonderland on FB. There are posts saying that one and possibly more are going to be charged with child porn and money laundering charges. One has a link attached and the other has a twitter post. The link is posted below:

A twitter account following posted this link:
