Lori 67: Stop reading - it'll give you ideas

Recommended Posts

@hollyfeller, Charles Schultz's estate should sue whoever wrote that caption to the Peanuts cartoon because Schultz sure as hell did not.   It's like Dr Suess's family trying to get people to stop using Horton Hears a Who as a forced birth screed.

Ken and Lori are a couple of sick fucks. If they get off on pain, then they need to keep their kink between themselves.

The whole idea of beating a baby over spilled raisins makes me want to get quite stabby...I mean, in my house, spilled anything meant a treat for the 4-legged denizens of our house. Little kids spill things. Big kids spill things. Grown ups spill things. Did Ken beat Lori when she spilled something and didn't clean it up fast enough? Did Lori beat Ken if he didn't clean up a spill fast enough?

I reported it on FB under the guide of Intellectual Property.  Not sure if anything will happen.

I had just turned 11 when I first got mine. Sure I could have had a baby but just because you can physically have one doesn’t mean you are ready for one.

I was 12.   I weighed 80 pounds, was scared of the dark, and still occasionally played with Barbie dolls.  These people are sick, and Lori is an idiot.

Here are 2 questions for LoriKen:

Would you have been perfectly fine with Alyssa or Cassie marrying at 12 a man of 26-30 and having a baby at 13?

Would you have been perfectly fine with Ryan or Stephen at 26-30 marrying a girl of 12 and becoming a father when she was 13?

Because this is what you are advocating by agreeing with your vile commenters who push child marriages.  Or do you two only advocate that for your leghumper fangilrs and have different standards for your own children?

I don't know if Lori and Ken have ever agreed with a comment supporting child marriage.  Biblical Gender Roles wrote the piece on the Handmaid'S Tale.

I don’t remember exactly when I first got my period but it was over a decade ago. I’m not ready for kids yet. Even if I was in a relationship, I feel too young! It’s bizarre to think that if I was a fundie I’d be married with 2, maybe 3 kids by now.

Mr. EW was just telling me over the weekend about how his fundie dad would spank him for coughing too much. Mr EW suffered/suffers from asthma and allergies. His dad would get mad at him not "stopping his cough" and he'd spank him. They'd also get spanked for not making the bed neat enough. I hope one day we can afford a few therapy sessions. I think it'd be helpful to talk that shit out.

I remember reading an article many years ago, like probably 20 ish years or more, where a store had used Lucy and she was drawn as being pregnant for an ad for maternity clothing.  He sued them and won.  I would hope that his estate, children if he had them, etc. would immediately jump on that one.

Today's post is rich.

prize.thumb.PNG.d2dd9f33b05f5d8a578738b75ed4d70c.PNG

As usual, Lori is completely misrepresenting something someone has said, in order to create a platform for herself.

She also takes a cheap shot at a woman for marrying later in life, as if there's something wrong with that.

Here's the thing- if you're stuck in a bad marriage, Lori is the first in line to tell you to stay and suffer in silence.  She is also very quick to remind you that SHE "would NEVER marry a man like this", so basically, any suffering you have to endure is your own fault.

She continues:

ADD.thumb.PNG.8be337623394d10935bacfc22c6af022.PNG

So basically, you are to apply God and Lori's qualifications ($$$).  To add any of your own requirements would be prideful.

Funny how she seems to have no qualms about putting her own requirements alongside those of God.

Or that Berkeley Breathed cartoon being used against transgender rights.(I wonder if he’s been made aware of it?).

@smittykins, I think that Berkeley Breathed was aware of the cartoon with Opus and Bill and he was livid!  I think he got a cease-and -desist order but I could be wrong about that.

I think its a moral victory, but with the internet it's impossible to police unfortunately, and people will be sharing those forever. :(

Just wanted to say I read Jill Duggar’s post on how to be a good wife and (while being creepy, clingy, and making a lot of assumptions) was a much more practical, clear, non-offensive, and written by someone who clearly does the things she’s recommending. Not to mention, Jill mentions husbands and wives are teammates and that you shouldn’t treat your husband like your father. Lol Jill could seriously write a better book than Lori.

Oh yeah, and says leave during abuse and recommended licensed marriage counseling ... Lori even the psycho Duggar spawn is smarter than you ....

I’m so tired of Lori making everything men vs. women.  No, we shouldn’t be conceited or think more highly of ourselves than we ought, but we are all special in God’s eyes.

Every married person should think of their spouse as a prize.

Now if you wanna go old school, traditionally the man was the one who pursued the woman. So yea, you could kinda say if he won her heart she was a prize.

This makes me hurt - because I understand a small bit - I got punished if I wasn't smiling.  It was even more if I cried.  When I wrote in a journal that I was suicidal (outlining ideas I had for killing myself), my mother stole it and  read it and I got punished. When I asked for counseling I got punished even more.

Honestly, I had a personal encounter of what I can only describe as the Holy Spirit in the moments I was alone in my room that followed that incident, while reading the gospel of John - and I believe it is what saved my life - and helped me hang on for 2 more years until I was 18 and could leave for college.  At my college, there was free counseling at the health center - and I took advantage of it - no trail back to mom and dad - they did not know until years later after we were all out.

With regard to women being prized in the eyes of God, (and therefore our husbands, too) Lori resorts to one of her favorite interpretive errors.  She defines humility as a feeling of worthlessness, or total lack of esteem of one's self. The truth, though, is that the opposite of pride is not a false pride, but rather an accurate assessment of one's self.  In fact, even the staff at John Piper's organization define it this way:  "In other words, humility is an accurate estimation of our self-importance in relation to God and others. It is not inappropriate self-exaltation or self-abasement. Pride then is the over-estimation of our self-importance in relation to God and others." - Jon Bloom - staff writer at DesiringGod.org  So - Biblical humility is NOT what Lori would have people believe.  And it can, indeed, include being valued and prized, by both our God and our husbands.

Exactly.  I think the ideal is for each to consider his/her partner a prize.  If it's only one way, as Lori insists it must be, then you've got a perfect setup for abuse.

So I ordered Lori's new Bible study. Should arrive by Monday, 6/10.  I'll give you my review in 12 weeks after that. or Tuesday, 6/11.  Depends on how much my small, womanly brain can handle! :bangheaddesk:

It's more that Lori likes, responds to, and engages with men who advocate this outside of her FB/ blog.  Men like Vaughn Ohlman for example, and that whack job Mikel something.  A number of FJ-ers have pointed out to Lori and Ken what these men advocate on their own blogs, but so far we've been ignored. And these vile men (and a few women) are still welcomed by Lori.

If Lori likes (as she does constantly) the comments of the men who advocate child marriage, and she, and more importantly Ken, have been shown what these men advocate.  then by extension she's agreeing with them  Same as she's agreeing with all the racist, bigoted. alt-right, white supremacists who post on her FB by failing to delete them.

Lori is known by the (cyber)company she keeps.

Oh wow. That sounds too familiar. I, too, have had asthma since I was a toddler (ironically, from my dad) and back then, medications weren’t what they are now. At all. Asthma overshadowed my childhood.  Too many times, dad would get fed up with my wheezing and gasping for breath and tell me to get the hell away from him.  We didn’t have a lot of money, and going to the doctor was a rare, rare thing. One night I was so sick I was nearly passing out from lack of oxygen and I remember Dad saying that he guessed I’d have to go to the doctor the next day. And Mom said, “Or the ER right now”.  Nope, it was the doctor the next day, after a night spent trying to sleep in a steamy bathroom. ‘Cause Mom had the submissive thing down pat.

It’s a wonder some of us survived our childhoods, isn’t it, physically and emotionally?

Yeah, funny that!  What makes her think she deserves a hard working man? She should be happy to have a man that is willing to provide animal food for her and her children to eat and who, on a weekly basis, presents her with stinky rabbits that are not fit to be cooked and eaten after spending a good chunk of their meager budget on the hunting gear needed to catch said rabbits.  That was Michael Pearl, Lori's idol.

Ironically, Debi pearl says that

Men are a different sort of people that are very hard for us more emotionally balanced females to understand.

Lori contradicts her mentor....

I've seen that, but have they ever posted a comment where they advocate or even try to support child marriage on Lori's "territory"?

I don't know about that. You all know I'm disgusted by Lori and the company she keeps, but I disagree with counting them guilty  by association unless they have allowed the racist, bigoted or white supremacist conversation to take place on her blog, her facebook page or her twitter account.  Agreeing with their comments on her topics is not the same as supporting whatever else they have to say elsewhere.

For example, Lori allows very long posts by her darling men where they say that women are not made in the image of God, that they are property of their husbands, that girls shouldn't receive any education past high school, etc, even though she (now) says that women are made in the image of God, has never (to my knowledge) taught that wives are the property of their husbands, and her daughters pursued higher education. In these cases, I absolutely consider her and Ken to be guilty by association because they are allowing a certain conversation to take place on an open forum that they host.  What these men say elsewhere is not their responsibility.

My heart aches for you and crying over your story.

I had a great friend in school that almost died our senior year from an asthma attack. Sadly, he did succumb to asthma in 2000. He had a major attack and couldn't get to the hospital in time. He was 25 when he died.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!
