Wait just a cotton-pickin' minute! (see bold)

Husbands are never disobedient! Just ask the Transformed Wife aka the Always Learning wife aka Lori Alexander. If the husband is being "disobedient" it is the wife's fault. Why is that study 8 pages long?

I could go on and on...can't wait to get my copy, but this "chapter" in particular strikes me funny.  I know she's written about "being good" before....but it's so ridiculous.   Like I don't know I shouldn't rob a bank, be mean to others, steal from my neighbors, be responsible, help others, etc.   I know there are people out there who are intentionally bad people/nasty/mean, but I think they are more the exception than the rule.  Eight pages on "being good" LOL

Come to think of it, maybe she should read that chapter twice....I think she needs her own advice.

I also can't wait to read the "Be Sober" chapter and her ever changing feelings on alcohol...she she used to brag about how good wine is and the good Margarita's her sister makes.

I avoided the last thread completely, she makes me so angry.  But I'm very interested in her book.  I'm sure she has so much to teach us!  ('scuse me while I go stick my head in the toilet because I'm sure that would be just as pleasant.)

Those of you that are going to read the book....
Don't forget that you should take 12 weeks to complete it.  :pb_lol:

So I have a question.  All those fangirls are jumping in saying they are buying 10 for their church group, etc.  To my knowledge, no one has a copy yet.  Do they just scoop up these books sight unseen and "teach" it without vetting it first?  No committee or church leader looking it over to see if it jives with what they believe/teach or is doctrinally sound?  Just buy up a bunch of copies because "it's Lori Alexander and Lori says she's right so it must be right."

Where's the gift of discernment?   Oh wait.  Nevermind.

Because I go to a big "evil" Catholic church, I seriously have no idea how this is decided! The Bible studies we have at my church are about a book in the Bible. Sometimes there is a supplement but I know those are always from a Catholic publisher like Ignatius Press, Ave Maria Press or Loyola Press.

No way Lori or Debi Pearl would make the cut. Joyce Meyer & Beth Moore wouldn't even make the cut.

So how do small or independent churches decide on book studies? And what authors are relevant?

This is why independently published stuff sucks. It would be great if she did a book launching team, so there would at least be some information. The curriculum for Sunday School is bought from a store affiliated with my denomination. There is a little more leeway for midweek bible studies. I would buy Lori's book to see how bad it is, but I still don't think it is worth it. I like buying coffee more.

@onemama I just came across your post about Crazy Love and I felt the same way after reading Chapter 4. I tried so hard not to be lukewarm. I loved Jesus with all my heart, but I felt distant from God due to depression. I felt that the best I could do was pray that I'll go to heaven because there wasn't hope about anything else. While I understand that there should be personal responsibility, it neglects the role the Church has to teach, equip, and exhort. I couldn't step out in ministry because I wasn't taught well. In high school, I wanted to lead the church group, but I couldn't because I was ill-equipped.

To use one of her cliches, why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free.  It's a rehash of her blog, so why pay money for a book.  It would be hysterical if the Amazon recommendations on her book page came up with some erotic romance, M/F, F/F or M/M.

Why buy the pig, if you can get the sausage for free, Lori? :)

Are those the same churches that she won't attend because they won't listen to her wise council?

Is her Be Good chapter about her BDSM habits? She does have a thing for whips, paddles and submission. Maybe it will turn up in the erotica section just like her other book. Also pass the brain bleach :brainbleach:

@ViolaSebastian, I loved his video on Lori's marital rape video.  This one didn't disappoint either. I would love to see her try to take him on....

I watch him consistently and his takes on fundie stuff are always excellent. It doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes, too. :pb_lol:

@ViolaSebastian, agreed. He is very intelligent as well (and able to come right at Lori's and other bullshit), which makes it even better for me. ?

Seriously what made today's video extra great was his ability to speak to growing up in a supersized family from personal experience. These women come out and say babies, babies, babies. But many of those kids come out and choose to have 1-2 or even none at all, like in his case. So clearly not all dreamy there if you're a kid....

Lori stated she gave the book to a woman friend from church to review. And of course the woman said it was excellent and Lori should publish it. LOL. So a pastor didn't review it? An elder? Or was it just Ken on his white pony?

I want to buy it just to review the hell out of it. And seriously, who is the friend?

None of those sound like things Lori is qualified to teach others about. She is the biggest hypocrite!!
