Lori 67: Stop reading - it'll give you ideas

Recommended Posts

Quote

From @SongRed7 on the previous thread:

I'm surprised Lori hasn't posted a "bikini's are evil" post yet.  There is a quick photo (IG story)  of Alyssa and Jon on the beach in France and she's wearing a bikini -- pregnant belly and all. And before she left, Alyssa posted an IG story with her and her friend on a girls' spa day and again, bikini/pregnant belly.  In that same IG story, Alyssa and Jon joke about whether or not Jon needs a Speedo bathing suit (because it seems the locals wear them)

It just goes to show that Lori can't even convince her own daughters that "God's" (meaning Lori's) ways are best.  I am happy that Alyssa has been free to make her own choices (assuming her husband isn't calling the shots).  And why should strangers listen to an "aged" lady who is so ineffective in her own family?

Funny enough, my mom encouraged me to wear skimpier clothes when I was teenager!  I was skinny and looked great in short skirts and crop tops, but they just weren't my thing.  Give me jeans and a t-shirt any day.

. I loved Jesus with all my heart, but I felt distant from God due to depression. I felt that the best I could do was pray that I'll go to heaven because there wasn't hope about anything else. While I understand that there should be personal responsibility, it neglects the role the Church has to teach, equip, and exhort.

This is so sad. Thank you for sharing it because I often feel exactly the same way. Life can be hard and trying and the church can often make us feel even worse in that sadness.

After reading that chapter I had to think about the way Jesus dealt with individuals. He told the rich young man to sell all his possessions and give them to the poor because the rich young man thought he was already doing everything right!  He didn't tell everyone to do that, so why is Francis Chan making it a universal command?  Yes, go into all the world and preach the good news is a command Jesus left with us, but first he said we should love one another as he has loved us, and that would be our witness to the world.  Could it be that our first priority as a church should be to love one another, and, as you said, equip one another?

I much preferred Chan's "letters to the church" for that reason.  Crazy Love felt like a personal attack on me.

This guy follows Lori's page and was asking how her how he could find a wife and not a girlfriend  on it yesterday lol. I didn't realize how many of the men lurking on her page were not even Christians.

I found his FB page, and saw this on his public profile.  Getting rid of crap like this might be a start.

Between hanging out on Lori's site and that picture it's a hard "No" from me. Too many of the symbols would make me run for the hills.

#12. Homemaking:

You shall have your housekeeper clean your house with norwex cloths. Nothing makes the job easier than your husband paying an evil working woman to do it! Then you will have time to make Einkorn bread with very expensive utensils. You must cook nourishing meals make slimy cat food salads and avoid sugar and processed foods. If you get cancer, it's your fault, and doctors are bad so put some black salve on it

Made a few revisions for you there.

Lori has to have dedicated studies to "love your husband" and "love your kids"? Hey  "Godly Mentor" - that's not something most people need to be taught. Unlike you. Who doesn't seem to have gotten the message yet, seeing how horrible you are to your daughters online.

I really think Lori has some serious personality disorder that she's always had, and is now declining cognitively to the point that she can't even pretend to hide it.

I think most people would rather read a study about "being obedient to your husband" written by someone who didn't lie and trick their own husband into having a child before he was ready, and who hasn't admitted hitting her husband. I think most "keepers at home" would prefer to cook food their husband will actually eat, rather than leaving him to cook his own meals. And they'd probably prefer to hear from someone who actually experienced the things they experienced, not someone who napped while the nanny and housekeeper did all the actual childrearing and cleaning. Except the child beatings, of course. Lori enjoys those.

That whole table of contents is like a list of things that are the opposite of what Lori actually does and did! Lori is so dumb. I don't know how anyone could possibly believe anything she says.

The title of this thread made me think of Gaston on Beauty and the Beast, where he tells Belle, "it's not right for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting ideas, thinking......" Not reading Lori's stuff or looking for her videos on YouTube is actually therapeutic. Mr Atheist, has he been called out for being bitter yet? Poor guy.

I’m confused by Lori’s new book. Doesn’t she think women’s Bible studies are bad? Who is going to study this book in a twelve week format? Are women supposed to sit alone in their house, bouncing their eleventy children on their laps while they do this “study guide”? If a group of women meets to study, who will be the leader? If there is no man, THERE CANNOT BE A LEADER! If they get done with a chapter quickly who will stop them from socializing? What if that socializing leads to husband bashing?

These questions keep me up at night.  Heh

I am very concerned for the buyers of this book. Lori is leading them straight into temptation. Why, her book is straight from the pits of Hell and she needs to repent ASAP. *end sarcasm now*

Also, I may buy the book.

Lori just posted a doodle where she says that if you've lost a child, God is good and his plan for you is good, for nothing bad or evil dwells within God. I understand the theological underpinnings of this, but it just comes off as so callous and cruel. People are allowed to think their kid dying was a bad thing, for crying out loud!

This might be BEC here, but that doodle struck me as childlike, and not in a good way.  She kept repeating over and over that 'God' is good and his plan for you is good.  Who is she trying to convince, herself?

Sounds like the grace at meals many of us learned as children:

God is great

God is good

Let us thank Him for our food

and "love your kids"?

I agree. No "normal" person needs to be taught to love their kids.  But Lori's chapter  on "loving your children" will be filled with 4-hour long spanking sessions, locking them in their room for 2 hours at a time so you can rest on the couch,  telling them snakes will bite them if they disobey, flicking infants on the cheek when they are nursing, and letting babies cry it out to show them "they aren't the boss."

I hope that does not mean anything has happened to Alyssa, I think she's the pregnant one.  Lori is such a despicable piece of filth that I can easily see her doing something like that.

No

I think some of them are creeps who would abuse a woman and know Lori's site has women who believe they have to put up with whatever a man does.

It's gold for abusive jerks.

Sadly. this guy would look good if he lost the beard and could probably get a nice woman if he wasn't a creep

Lori's latest blog post includes many postings from women who felt horrible after witnessing their own child's birth, an ultrasound, an abortion, etc.

I just think it's funny how she says women are too emotional to make decisions, vote, understand anything, etc. and then uses women's emotions to justify pro-life. . .

Re Lori’s “going viral”: I know several of us have pointed out that Facebook post-boosting for $$$ is a thing, but I have just experienced it firsthand! I was just made an admin of my church’s FB page, and now I can do things like plunk down money to boost things like my minister’s retirement party announcement! I feel drunk with power! Bwahahaha!

All very valid questions that I'll try to answer with Lori's help.

- Doesn’t she think women’s Bible studies are bad?  They are useless because they don't teach women the principles of Titus 2. That's why Lori had to write a special study guide for women.  Fear not, this one is a good Bible study.

- Who is going to study this book in a twelve week format?  Well, I'm sure some women might study it in a shorter time period, but don't question the godly mentor's wisdom. She knows.

- Are women supposed to sit alone in their house, bouncing their eleventy children on their laps while they do this “study guide”?  Since Lori and her chatroom are always at hand, the woman who can't make it to a study need not fear she must make it through the book on her own.  The godly mentor is only ever one click away! If she can't get back in person, one of her page admins will reply. They are well organized!

-  If a group of women meets to study, who will be the leader?  If there is no godly mentor among them, due to feminism wooing all those older women away from their mentorship duties towards the younger women, Lori herself will be the leader through the book, written in her signature mentoring style, or via the chat room.

- If there is no man, THERE CANNOT BE A LEADER!  Lori strongly advises that no woman host a study in her home unless her husband gives his permission and she has properly submitted to his desires. Then she will be operating under his umbrella of authority and all will be well.

- If they get done with a chapter quickly who will stop them from socializing? What if that socializing leads to husband bashing? Socialising is a good thing, but women must be careful not to start bashing their husbands. There's a time and place for that: in the chat room, when Lori asks for testimonies.  Should a Jezebel rise up in any group, ask the leader's husband to deal with the issue.

I hope I have answered your questions to your satisfaction. Now I wish you a good night of sleep!

(Snark over)

Referring to the "God is good" on repeat:  It feels mind bendy to me.  I knew a fellow years ago whose parents had been in a local cult and there was a catch phrase that he retained.  Something to the effect of you say "God is good" and the response would be "all the time" ( or somesuch).  They guy had been out of it on his own for years and had been to therapy to deprogram a lot of the shit but that one thing remained.  It didn't matter who said it, what time of day, or where he was....if he heard that phrase he would follow it immediately with the answer.  Reading her post felt like that to me.  Like a visual and auditory (if one read it aloud) mind fuck.  Subliminal messages are powerful.

One of the three principals I worked for at hell the Christian school made the kids do that one constantly. On the intercom, at chapel, at pep rallies...It was popular with the charismatic/neo-pentecostal crowd.

He did it as a two parter as follows:

Leader: God is Good!

Crowd: All the Time!

Leader: And All the Time!

Crowd: God is Good!

Oh yes, I've heard that one at Nigerian churches.

Re. Lori's post. It's as heartless as usual. Can't she show some compassion? A parent who just lost a child is in horrendous pain. It's not the time to remind that person of God's goodness!!!!  BE good to that person, offer a shoulder to cry on, offer to be there for them for whatever they might need, let the person vent his or her pain and doubt.  Jesus raised the widow's son because his heart was filled with compassion for the woman.

With all this talk about how a wife is supposed to submit to her husband and follow his leadership as the Church submits to Christ and follows His leadership would make you think that SHE, of all people, is following in the footsteps of Jesus and obeying his commands.  Love one another as I have loved you, He, the head of the Church, said.  Lori? she spouts her usual holier than thou crap.

Why are people still listening to her?

I love how Lori compares her parasites to losing a child.  Let's be exact as she says "I have suffered many years with my health (parasites, neck fusion and brain tumors, to name a few)..."  But she's well enough to sit at a computer all day moving from one social media platform to another.  Her physical health issues are the least of her issues.

My juvenile mind is on overdrive.  I can't wait until we get to thread #69 with her.

Yep! That's it! I wasn't sure if I had the phrase correct or not, it's been a long time.

Apparently they paired that chant with images or whatever stimuli to literally brainwash the congregation.  I want to say the church eventually disbanded or shrunk & went underground.  That's some Jim Jones bs right there....

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?
