Josiah and Lauren Part 8: One Week to the Wedding (Now Married)

I quite like the style of the bridesmaid dresses. I note Kendra is a bridesmaid; I wonder if that was always the plan or a late decision after Garrett was born. After all, if she'd gone overdue she could have been only a few days post partum at the time of the wedding.

Speaking as what used to be called a full-figured gal (size 38DDD) that combo of a high neckline, gathered bodice, and tight sash is REALLY gonna accentuate the bazongas.

Joy was on the busty side before her pregnancy, and once you add in the breastfeeding...  I hope she isn’t horrified when she sees the pictures. I have some pics of myself in a very snug tee shirt back when I was nursing my oldest that make me wince a bit when I see them now.  Major boobage.

Sometimes I forget how.....generous a bosom I have. Then I see a picture of myself and about fall out of my chair.

38G. I agree. I tend to prefer v necks or scoop necks - anything so there's not miles of fabric there!

Joy looks like Jinger/Michelle, did she cut in bangs she looks really cute, and yeah the boobs are, very boobalishous. And as a previous poster said I to hope she doesn't feel self conscious, that dress is just accentuating the increased size.  She looks very pretty, and I can't believe how good Kendra looks 2 weeks after having a baby.  To be so so young and bouncy again.

30HH and good at hiding them. Honestly so long as there's enough fabric to cover bra straps, it's all good. Anything low cut or with buttons looks straight up pornographic! :laughing-rollingred:

@SapphireSlytherin neither of your hair is scraggly! It looks healthy and well styled. These Duggar brides need a good trim, conditioning treatment and then somebody who is not afraid of a brush and a can of strong hairspray that will hold at least for photos.

Josie Bates, your time to shine/make fundie occasion hair youtube tutorials is here!

Welcome to my daughter's wedding, where this MOB had long hair and wore it down - and my daughter's request. My daughter also had "scraggly hair" according to some of yall. And my son-in-law wore a grey suit with brown shoes. Snark away. :) But you know what? She had a beautiful wedding, everyone loved the food and the music and the toasts and the dancing, and she's happy. That's what matters.

1. I wasn't snarking on anyone's wedding? I was only relaying my personal experience in a completely neutral way. :my_confused:

2. Not that it matters, but in my world, your hair wouldn't be deemed long.

3. This wedding's discussion has been so tepid and some people almost seem to be manufacturing drama so they have a reason to be offended (or brag about their own family's weddings). I don't understand it.

LOL - my hair is layered (it's soooo thick) - what's over my shoulders isn't its full length. It's past my bra strap in the back. :) When I straighten it, anyway. My hair is pretty curly, naturally. It's a pain to straighten (again - GryffDis requested "straight" so...) and takes a good 20-30 minutes. :/

Well this just goes to show how we’re all different. I saw these dresses and thought DAMN great job on finding a bridesmaid dress that emphasizes the attributes ! Same with Michelle’s. I’d be framing those photos and putting them on prominent display forever :cracking-up:

Those dresses do seem like a good choice for women who are early pregnancy / post baby. Especially if the sashes are providing a great deal of the fit.

I think we’ve reached the point in the Duggar lineup where not all the elder sisters will be included in the wedding party - between the ages of the future couples (except John/Abbie and whoever Jana marries, if she marries at all) and the number of in-laws they have now it’s just not possible for everyone to be included anymore. I’d guess most of the Duggars included in future wedding parties will be the ones the Bride/Groom is closest to.

ETA: Maybe that’s partly why Jana and Anna sewed the Bridesmaid dresses. It’s possible Lauren didn’t pick them to be in the wedding party, but she still wanted to include them somehow and that’s what they came up with.

Okay, so I don't mean to go on about it, but I am still not seeing the despairing Josiah shuffling off in desolate misery to his wedded doom.  All I see is someone who perhaps wanted to come across as more sober/mature/put together than the hyper puppy teenager in the embarrassing Marjorie courtship announcement video.  Maybe he overdid it on the solemnity?

F*ck it, here I go. Josiah is married.

Is it only me that thinks Lauren is his beard?

Even if she was... do you think he would know himself? Theyve been brainwashed to think being gay is horrific and discouraged of any self exploration. Im not sure that it's really a fair question.

I could see that being a possibility... maybe even encouraged by his family.

At first, I thought she was Michelle because of her hair, but then I saw Austin and the baby so then I realized it was her.

It’s not just you. But I’m not sure if she’s his beard for the obvious reason, or if she’s his beard because in the fucked up world of fundamentalism, anyone who’s more sensitive, creative, artistic, intelligent or ‘rebellious’ but who still wants to be accepted by their fellow fundies might gravitate toward overcompensating with a picture perfect fundie spouse... regardless of sexuality.

I've thought the same for a very long time, which is why I so carefully worded my earlier post about his "parroting" his father/brothers, and "doing what's expected" of him.

I have also long thought my dad's older brother did the same thing - FIFTY YEARS ago.

So sad that nothing has changed in the churchiness of their existence. :(

That video was so cringeworthy. She had the fundie stare and fundie voice down for sure. I hope they have better chemistry in their day to day life than they do in this video where their energy levels are totally mismatched. Josiah looks so indifferent.

Lauren reminds me a bit of Anna with her airy voice. It made me uncomfortable.

That is so IT!! SHE reminds me of Anna...and I can't stand Anna.

I actually thought Joy looked like cousin Amy in that pic more than anyone else... I thought it was Amy with Austin for a sec there but realized that didn't make any sense.

The bridesmaids dresses look similar to this Burda 6518 pattern, view B. https://www.simplicity.com/burda-style-pattern-b6518-misses’-two-layered-dress/B6518.html

Personally, I would much rather sew or hem a dress that be in another bridal party, especially if the bride is 10 years younger than me.

As for Josiah and Lauren, I wish them luck and I hope they truly are happy with their marriage.

Great find, I bet its that exact pattern!

Also I completely agree it would be really rough if Jana was longing to be married.

We have very deliberately not speculated on this for a long time. I’m content to keep it going. Just because he got married doesn’t make him an open target. They are newlywed and figuring shit out. Reading speculation on the internet isn’t going to do them any help. Why do we need to go there?

To me he’s still too unformed as well.  (just for my own criticism/speculative/snark purposes)

I really like her dress. It's so timeless and elegant. Plus, I love fit and flares. It's quite similar to my wedding dress actually, except that I had a v-neck and lots of sparkles all over the dress.
