The families in the Bible are pretty dysfunctional. Brothers killing brothers... Brothers selling another brother into slavery... Men having babies with their female slaves... Solomon and his eleventy hundred wives and concubines...

Not to mention Lot, who had sex with his daughters!

I can’t really tell if it’s any good or not.

Remember this Photoshop tragedy? A four-year-old’s tummy is defrauding, y’all. (Actually it looks more like a Paint job).

I didn't know that photo existed until now.  The Maxwells pulled a JillRod with that and sunk to a new low.   What a bunch of scumbags.

This is amazing and follows my instinct that they are not at all isolationists. And never have been.

The Maxwells have always endorsed fellowshipping with other Christians, so long as it’s as a family. Individual friendships are discouraged, but socialising as a family with other families is fine, so long as the children are closely supervised.

Ew - I hate that picture and the horrible need to photoshop a then 4-year-old's stomach. These are not good people.

That article con concerning Sarah's past behav-I mean, bossy, critical girls who won't get a husband was nasty. And great setting up of unquestioning subservience- sometimes adults get things WRONG. If you are offended by a small female* challenging your authority (probably just saying 'no it isn't' but everything is an extreme battle with fundies) or asking questions out of turn, then you probably aren't fully equipped to be taking care of them. I also initally thought this might be aimed at Melanie's girls, maybe Abby, which would be terrible.

And what has got Stevehovah so freaking pissed (other than his son and his fun wife having FUN)? What was that bit about no schedules for bed and dinner and watch anything you want?

*Ironically, these small females do the lion's share of housework/cooking/children, raising of, as soon as they are deemed old enough. Considering Teri's depression, Sarah would have been doing a LOT of work. Teri even acknowledges that the characteristics an older sister has are helpful for the mother BUT being bossy, disrespectful, and critical, apparently not so good.

Teri can go to hell.

New post up. I am a little surprise the referenced Sarah's age with the picture of the workout of the day. I had thought that was something that wasn't to be talked about.

Oh, and the birthday girl had a real treat and was able to SPLIT A DONUT. WTF??

On another note,  John and Chelsy are back.

Oh I know! It was just that all these people seem to be actually going to the Maxwells to vacation and there are at least 8 other families in the Church of Death! That means they actually have local friends and congregants. I don’t remember hearing that before!

Did they split that donut INTO THIRDS?!? All three sisters were at the coffee shop so I'm guessong they did. I admire will power and all but COME ON! It's a birthday. Eat the donut!

In the interest of full disclosure, you'd have to pry a donut out of my sugar lovin' death grip just to cut it in half!  If someone suggested I split one THREE WAYS, I'd grab my purse and make a tearful exit worthy of a Real Housewife. Then I'd stop somewhere else and buy three donuts for myself. 'Cause the only way to split donuts three ways is to actually have three donuts. Even then, it's not going to happen after such an upsetting event. It's going to take me a while to get over this post. I feel panicked!!!

Well actually they had sex with him; they took turns. He knew nothing about it because they got him drunk. But he was about to sacrifice them to this mob that came to his door in Sodom/Gomorrah. And the men they were going to marry didn't believe him when he tried to take them with them. And they were pretty isolated, so the daughters knew they couldn't get husbands now; that's why they plotted to do this.

Yeah; I wonder what kind of discussion the Maxwells have on those passages in Genesis.

Those have been covered in white out for the Maxwell’s innocent minds can’t handle it.

Splitting a donut in 3rds is the new two animal crackers.

So what if Poor Sarah is/was bossy.  Someone had to take over since Griselda Teri checked out and Coward Steve was too busy impregnating her.

Forgotten Jesse is still concerned about the unborn.  He was probably the only young single male there.

I cannot imagine being Sarah. 36 Years old, still sharing a room with her sisters. Still doing exactly what she's told. Never being alone.  Not even the option of anti-depressants to relieve the gloom. Like I said--a cloistered nun. Please, Steve, let her marry an Arndt! Penguins will help.

re: A--leave it to the Maxwells to find a way to ruin yet another one of life's simple pleasures.  Fuck you, Steve, and your cult of anti-fun.

re: B--exactly what i've been thinking.  Sarah probably was not being bossy, she would have been running the family when Teri couldn't (again, because of Steve not letting her get the help she needed).

I just read the latest Mom's corner about bossy and controlling daughters, Poor Sarah, since she was a miniMom for a long time I think that this essay is about her.

It could be about her, but since so much time has passed since Sarah helped mother her younger siblings, I'm wondering if this has to do with the older granddaughters.  Can't imagine any other scenarios where Teri can observe this so called bossiness.  What a tough position, to be responsible to help raise your siblings and still be meek and subservient.

Splitting a donut. Wowsers. Even at the height of her batshittery, Erika Shupe allowed her kids a donut EACH on the first day of school. She was a mega health freak otherwise. Plus Erika was a lot better organised about the first day of homeschool than Teri was.

In fairness, in a comment Sarah explains she at first refused the donut because she had lots of other sweets already but it had already been purchased and so they shared it.

Understandable.

The real point to snark on is why in the world they thought they should document that donut with a picture.

My first thought was that it was directed at Chelsy.  Her Pinterest used to include (and may yet include) a section about having a Choleric temperament, which is noted for strong leadership qualities (AKA bossiness).

I'm fairly new to the Maxwell world...I had NO IDEA Sarah was 36! I thought she was still in her 20's....

Am I alone in this revelation?

I was thinking the same thing when I read that Mom's Corner.

Fundies expect older daughters to act as surrogate moms to younger siblings.  Then they complain when those daughters act as moms to younger siblings.

I knew she was in her 30's (been reading there a long time) but I was surprised she was 36.  I didn't think she was quite 35 yet.
