Maxwell 14: Editing Out Fun-Loving

My guess is Steve actually likes the animals even if he won’t admit he enjoys having them around. No one gets anything in that house unless Steve approves so it’s obvious he is happy having Ellie and Arnold as part of the immediate Maxwell family. I think it’s great they have pets and my guess is that they are well taken care.

Exactly, they've allowed Jesse to have guinea pigs before. They probably see it as caring for God's creatures. In the case of Ellie, it's probably something to keep Sarah occupied as she won't get married. Dogs live for a long time and Ellie isn't even two yet.

ETA: turns out Arnold is "earning his keep" as a critter-catcher. Everything's gotta have a purpose.

So Teri has had her pussy neutered. What happens if Arnold decides to leave it up to Jesus on how many kittens he fathers? Will we see the worlds first reversal kittens?

There was a shorthair tabby cat that turned up at our house. Our process went like this:

6. (Step-daughter insists on naming cat after departed One Direction band member "because he's going to leave".) OK but he's staying outside, you know.

this is my favorite part!  i like her creativity.

I am shocked that they had Arnold neutered, thus denying him the blessings of being an absentee kittendaddy.

My guess is that he was spreading his seed all over Kansas without keeping his kitties at home until the age of one when they were able to purchase their own home under a dumpster debt free. Plus Arnold wasn't married to any of those Kitty Whores. He saved Arnold from a life of sin and debauchery.

And what's more obvious is that almost none of the churches that had the Maxwells attend in their heyday invited them back.

Not quite true.  To clarify - the Maxwells are - or were - invited more by individuals than by churches.  The Greenfield conference in 2013 was at a "Meeting House," which is basically a decommissioned church now used as a community hall.  Greenfield is a tiny little town.

Two Patriarchal wannabes invited them to NH but they did not have a "church."  The 26 families came from all over NH, MA, MN and VT just looking at their licence plates.

The same 2 NH wannabes did invite the Maxwells back 2014 but they met at a different location -- a church in Nashua.  The Friday night and Saturday program probably doesn't run into normal church service time.   Mr P and I did not go in 2014.  :D

That said, I think conference attendance really was dropping sharply , gas prices made travel really expensive so love offerings and book sales may not have been covering expenses, and Uriah was no longer viable for long distances.  By 2015 they were only wanting to do conferences closer to home.

And honestly, the Maxwells have no new material.  I can't imagine why anyone,  however leg-humping, would really want to sit through them more than once!

One  commenter said, "I hope you also had the vet check to see if he was neutered. "

Because, after all, it would be indelicate for a godly woman to look under the cat's tail.

Which is what many leghumpers actually DID, bizarrely enough. They were often taking photos with people who'd been to the conferences before. Maybe some young wives went when they only had one or two small kids and then went again a few years later when their quiver was fuller, to learn how to cope with lots of little blessings and homeschool the older ones.

Anna Maher got married yesterday in a strapless wedding gown in a wedding that had booze and dancing. I didn't see pics of Melanie but I think she went. According to grace's instagram stories, the whole family gathered at the maher farm today. Lots of video of the abc girls with the other kids and the animals.

Here are some bad quality screenshots. Melanie in plaid. Instagram @gracemahermusic

I really wonder how that must be for them. What do they think of their aunt marrying in an immodest dress? How do they react to other kids referencing pop culture things (TV shows, movies, books, songs) that they do not know and will never be allowed to know? Heck, when I was seven and spent a month in Germany with my cousin, I felt so lost and awkward when she and her friends talked about German pop stars they liked and I had no idea who they were. Thank god for American cultural imperialism because everyone knew about the Backstreet Boys.

Poor Melanie, it seems she married and landed in Maxhell just as her family reached peak fundie - they’ve been on a steady journey to fundie lightness ever since. If she’d only held off a few more years she could have had a normal life.

Re Teri and Arnold - she wrote about him with more warmth and enthusiasm than she’s ever expressed for any of her grandchildren. That woman is remarkably unmaternal.

Those pictures on Grace's Instagram are gone.  Hi Coward Steve!  Grace has a beautiful singing voice, Goofy Anna and Smug Joe take note.

No, they're the temporary "story" - you have to click on her profile pic to view. They expire after 24 hours but they're there now

Most of those cousins look pretty young and they're almost all boys, so it's hard to tell if they're also being raised fundie. The girl with the glasses and the long skirt probably is. I don't see many non-fundie girls dressed like that.

In the new post about Anna's birthday, there is an odd photo of Abby and Elisaa on the couch. At first I thought Abby was holding a newborn and I thought it would be just like Steve to hide Elissa's pregnancy from us. But I think they are just side hugging.

I do love Tina's purple glasses! She looks so sassy.

ETA it looks like Abby is hugging a bump. Is Elissa pregnant again? She looks quite far along.

I agree, that definitely looks like a baby bump.

Yep, that’s a quite far along bump. Maybe Steve is protecting his children’s privacy by not announcing anything until the birth in case the baby decides to opt out of Maxhell the day before the birth and prompt Elissa to run like the wind, birth it in a real hospital and raise it in “the world”.

That balloon apron looks almost like a miniskirt - eye traps, Steve, on your own sweet daughter......

She must be quite far along if Abby is feeling the baby kicking, if it is what it looks like. Because it would be fucking weird for Abby to have her hand there otherwise.

Elissa's brother got married last month and I am trying to find photos but my fu is failing. Anyone find anything for Matthew Frost and Bethany Harmon in Richmond Kentucky? A cute photo of Bethany and Matthew and Elissa's sister Stacy comes up.

I bet Sarah posts some condescending drivel about posting that pic and wondering if a keen eyed reader would pick out the bump as a kind of clever announcement.

And @Captain Obvious - she’s got to be 6 months along, unless she carries like Joy Duggar, but she didn’t show early or get big quickly (or at all really) with Calia.

And now I’m wondering if Melanie is pregnant too - the main reason I doubted that she was is because I didn’t think the Maxwells would post a pic showing an obvious bump til after an announcement. But you’d think if all three daughters in law were pregnant Steve would be shouting it from the rooftops.

If Elissa's pregnant, I wonder why they haven't announced it. Maybe Elissa and Joe are just more private (which would also explain why we rarely see stuff about them on the blog and most pictures of Calia are when she's with the other cousins on major holidays/family events -- and if this is the case, good for them), maybe they've drifted too far from Steve's path and he's displeased, maybe Steve is getting more and more insular and the non-Nathan/Christopher marrieds matter less and less to him (which is I suppose why they refer to their own grown adult children who have started families of their own "extended family").

That's totally what I thought it was when I first saw the picture! And I thought, "What the hell?" But then I went back up to the main text and saw it's a balloon apron. At least they're encouraging Anna in something she's good at and seems to enjoy.
