Bates the 20th

Their was a LTE in the old, lamented Southern  magazine that said that the Four Food Groups for a Southerner were flour, sugar, fat and alcohol and that Bourbon Pecan Cake had all four.  (At least I think that was what it said.  It's been years since I read that.)

My mom used to give us kids raw turnip and raw cabbage when she was preparing these things.  I particularly loved raw cabbage stalk.

Southern food also varies a great deal by region. Even in NC what people consider traditional sauce for BBQ is different in one part of the state than it is in another. I grew up in an area where the sweet BBQ sauce is what is made, so I'm not a fan of the vinegar based sauce that is popular in other parts of the state. The local cookbooks don't really have vinegar based sauces.

I'm not sure of a good cookbook that covers Southern food from all the different regions.

While Paula Deen type Southern cooking uses lots and lots of butter, what was often used in the area I grew up in was some sort saved grease like bacon, ham or sausage. Growing up it is normal for people to keep a jar of bacon/fried ham fat sitting on their kitchen counter to use for cooking. Greens with hot grease poured over them was a normal meal for the older people I knew.

You are right. I have lived in NC all of my life, first 40 years In the Western part and now the Central part. People are VERY loyal to their barbecue sauces.

And all of my best southern recipes have been handed down for generations in my family. Most of them are in my head.

I should probably write them down one day...

Oh not only that, I'm watching the live and Kelly says Allie Jane not only is learning but in her "spare time" she's taking care of Lexi, she's a baby genius and Alyssa says "she's a good sister". Already training Allie to be sister mom.

Let's see who says Alyssa and John are going fundie lite because she wears pants :pb_evil:

It's been covered. Name is Evan Stewart, he's been introduced as a "special friend" on the show, and Carlin seems smitten.

Josie said she's gonna work in a salon once she finishes her program. Who wants to bet that's never going to happen? That girl has potential too. She's stylish and fun. Salons always look for people like that.

Well she doesn't have a special friend as of now. So, the Bates do let some of the kids get jobs. I hope that she gets to work at a salon.

I am now tempted to go to a salon and ask for a Christian bikini wax.

I have a friend that is a hairstylist who used to always work from home. She had a work station with a dryer and sink set up. She was making crazy money. She now has a booth in a salon but still does work at home as well. Josie could still make money to support her family from home and she has a skill that she can take anywhere. She could find her niche by tailoring her market to fundies such as fundy weddings or fundy engagement/courtship hairstyling for pictures.  She will be one of the few fundy women to have a practical skill. If hell freezes over and she decides she wants a more secular life, she will be easily able to get a job.

I know more than one Mormon lady who does this. The home salon business seems to be a thing.

After you've gotten your modest brazilian, if you really want to go all out for your headship, make sure you wear a sexy-but-Christ-honouring thong with 'Sweet Fellowship' bedazzled across the front in rhinestones.

Make sure it covers up those defrauding collar bones and knees though. Denim is preferred

OMG this Christian Brazilian thread drift launched me into the abyss of the internet where I found this:

Can a sex toy be Christian?

We know that sex toys, marital aids, vibrators, or whatever you call them can't in themselves be Christian or not Christian! So what makes us different? Everything we sell has been extensively researched and scrutinized to ensure it is in classy nudity free packaging and designed to be used together by husbands and wives. We also only order from companies with no ties to pornography. The links on our site, the advice, articles, games and more are all offered to draw you closer in your relationship with your spouse and encourage you to be the husband or wife God intended toy to be! Have fun!

I HAVE EXPIRED!!!!!

Who else watched the episode? I was wondering how they would get the 5 boys in that little apartment.  And she wanted the girls as well??? She's got the task master part down. I saw they discussed their book as well. I'm sure there's a niche for that. So next week is the finale. I love you day and the birth. Hmm.

Josie  better watch out or Jill Rod. will latch onto her to try and be her mentor.

If Josie is truly skilled with cutting and styling hair, she will have a job she can continue even after marriage. One of the churches I went to had a lady who worked from home cutting and styling hair. She homeschooled her kids and pretty much only served church people. But she made good money.

That is something I could see Josie doing. But does she have talent? That remains to be seen.

And that's a shame, IMO.  That Allie seems to be fairly advanced for her age in terms of vocabulary recall ability. :(  I really don't think a highly intelligent kid like that should be homeschooled by a parent who was also homeschooled.

That website carries anal beads though. I thought anal sex was ungodly?

Yeah but if anal beads are occupying the rear end then his penis can't accidentally slip into the ungodly zone....

Can the admins and moderators please create a status called "Vibrators for Jesus"?   I really feel like this needs to be a thing.
