Wow, that's a really flattering portrait Chris paints of women. According to him, we're all just a bunch of narcissists who don't care what anyone else has to say. It just all about us All. The. Time. Even when Fundie men aren't being total jerks, their extremely low opinion of women just still comes oozing out of them every time they talk.

I've attempted to have friendships and dating relationships with people who don't have anything interesting to say ever, and not only does every interaction with them feel hollow and empty, but it's also exhausting. I ended up spending the whole time I was around them thinking, Could you contribute something here. Do I really have to do all the work here to make this fun and interesting. It fascinates me that these fundie marriage "counselors" actually encourage men to be boring and obsessed with sex.

That's exactly what Jim Bob thinks, too.  Here's the advice he gave to Josh on his wedding day to Anna.  He pretty much says that Michelle is a blithering idiot with nothing important to say.

"To you, one of the most important things about life will be having a physical relationship.  But, for your wife, one of the most important things will be to be able to talk and share her heart everyday with you. And, to you, some of these things may seem kind of trivial.  Some things that go on in her life may not seem that important, but, for her – to be able to express it to you and for you to respond that you care about her and that you care about the little things in her life – this will show her that you love her and that you cherish her and that you care about her.  Women speak a different language than men.  Women will tell all of these details of everything that happened even before they get to the main point.  And sometimes, after they tell you everything that happened in a given situation, you still don't understand the main point."

Must be weird listening to some little-league sex ed tape with someone whom you know has groped his little sisters, but I guess that's just another Little Duggar Thing.

The funniest thing about this for me is that in my marriage the one who has to tell the whole story before getting to the point is my husband. ;)  I am definitely a talker and a story-teller, but I start out with the main point rather than telling the whole story before I get to the point.

Thanks! I don't know if I've ever seen all of this before. Just little snips of it in other episodes. So I watched the whole clip. What is up with the unicycle? So weird. And I thought it was a myth that sugar caused kids to be hyper.

I didn't realize Josh and Anna saw each other before the wedding too. On the Jill episode, it made it seem like it was a big deal for them to go against "tradition" or whatever.

They bleeped out "sexual intercourse?" Wow.

The part when JB says there aren't pictures and Josh says "I've got enough...I'll have a working model." It's like he was about to say "I've got enough pictures in my head" but stopped himself.

And wow....Jim Bob is so ridiculously stupid. Of course, we already knew that.

The chapter on sex and married life? not advice guys.  Just another "wait till marriage because god" lecture. HOW is that marriage advice? ok, at the beginning he says have sex with your wife, because it makes jesus happy, or something.  Still not advice.  You'd be better off watching the scene from friends: 7,7,7, 7!

Why give someone a text about waiting till marriage right before the wedding? what's the point?

The last bit about cheating and the devil explains why the duggars keep trying to excuse josh's behavior by blaming the devil.  But then they call it "bad choices" or something. So which is it? the devil made him do it, or did he choose to act like an ass?

Ugh, watching that makes me cringe. How on earth did his parents think he was ready for marriage? He wasn't even mature enough to get through a sex talk without making stupid comments. And the arranged marriage vibe is just creepy.

He was a predator to their daughters. Getting rid of him probably seemed like the only option...

They thought he was ready for marriage years before- what was he, 14? 15? when they started courting him to the first girl. Maybe they would have waited longer for the marriage, but somehow I doubt it.  I have a suspicion that the only reason they are waiting for 18-21 or so for courting and marriage now is because a)the cameras/media and b)harder to find suitors now, after the show and scandals.  I believe if they never had a show they would have married off a lot of the older kids in their teens.  The legal age to marry, with parental signatures, is fairly low in arkansas in my understanding.  You don't have to be ready if it's god's plan, right?

I doubt that many of those items were ever purchased!  The tapes are no longer being produced. The tapes and the books were first produced at least 35 years ago.

Most of the reviews were about, or referenced, a used seller. so i'm guessing the ones that were bought were used through 3rd party sellers. Several of the reviews did talk about the book and how it's a must have for all christians getting married etc. So clearly, some people have gotten their hands on it.

eta: the book is atttainable- many sellers have it for around 4$.  there is one seller for the tape, at 2771.81 dollars. with 3$ shipping. Cause you know, you just blew 27771 on an outdated audiotape, but the seller is still gonna need that 3$ shipping fee.  One tape reviewer said it can take awhile to get your hands on a copy. The other review may be about a different product altogether, too vague to tell.

now i'm afraid of what amazon will be advertising to me....

Warning. Tasteless comment ahead.

I don't think scented candles will do it for josh.  According to a previous poster he was googling girl on girl stuff.  He's in good company btw, according to that map that was all over fb recently, most of the country's number one googled porn term is "lesbian".  Josh would be a lot more interested in a threesome. I bet there would be a line of willing leghumpers to help him out there too.

This gives me the giggles.

"Slip out of that frumper and defraud us!"

Anna's response about saying/doing the right thing for the next 15 minutes is just so sad.

She/her "counselor"/mostly likely JB &DQ have perverted a real survival thing:  usually it's just survive the next 15 minutes....just make it through the next 15 minutes....just feel something for the next 15 minutes.

Having to behave appropriately in 15 minute increments isn't helping her through anything...it's adding another burden to the crap they've already loaded on her.

I would not be shocked if the whole sex talk was staged by TLC or Jim Bob. Then again, I wouldn't be shocked if Jim Bob did something like this because he's a douche-nugget.
