The Duggar GIRLS didn't get an instagram until they were engaged (or about to be in Jessa's case).... Siah was the only one that got one right at courtship.....

Jessa got hers at the beginning of her courtship. They weren't officially courting yet when the beans were spilled. It was MONTHS before there was a ring on her finger.

Yeah, they were together just shy of a year (IIRC) before Ben proposed. Jessa had Instagram waaaaaaaaay before that.

I could have sworn she didn't get one until they were close to being engaged, since she got it as Jessa Seewald and not Jessa Duggar....pretty sure it showed up in May or so of 2014....

Just looked it up , first post was May 2014.. Her courtiship started in September of '13. Engagement: at or around Aug 21, 2014

Jills was 89 weeks ago, so two weeks before Jessa's (first post at least). She was already engaged, obviously.

OH, and I remember the big deal about Jessa's coming up, the speculation was that she was engaged or it was impending shortly afterward....she'd already been courting for quite a while.

In retrospect, I wonder if Josiah's courtship announcement was a last ditch effort to get people focused on something positive before the news broke. I get the feeling that they knew for at least a little while that this was going to happen, and Josiah's courtship was heavy in the diversionary tactics. His getting an Instagram was probably in hopes that people would be so interested in the courtship that they'd forget about Josh. But, there was a lot of backlash and the courtship failed (which makes me wonder if the Duggars called it off themselves since Marjorie has been seen at Duggar events since then, especially since there's like absolutely no talk about any of it from either side).

To be fair, back then what everybody was talking about was about how wreckless was jill while handling her birth. The theory was they announced it so fast to divert the attention from her

I never really bought that, especially since they didn't do something similar for Jessa's birth controversy. Plus, there were a lot of other things they were doing at that time that kind of seemed off in the moment but, in retrospect, seem like a PR stunt.

I've deduced from various IG posts that Jinger was recently in Florida and visited with Masie Whatserface. Not sure who she was there with (didn't see any signs of other Duggars) but it just so happens that a few Bates' were also in Florida at the same time with Lawson among them.  Take that for what it's worth.

I noticed that the official Duggar FB page put up a photo of Jinger at an airport. I wondered where she was going. I wonder what her original reason for going to Florida was.

Can you link to any of the IG posts (if they are public)?

Wellll the Masie one I believe is private but she accepts requests so you can probably try if you want. But, I just looked at Lawson's IG and Alyssa's. I'm sure they're public. They seem to all coincide.

Aren't Dave and Prissy in FL doing prison ministry with Mr. Keller?  I've seen past photos of some of the Duggar girls posed in front of Florida State prisons, so maybe it's that.

Yes, Maisie posted a picture with her and Jinger with a quote like "this prison ministry has been so amazing with amazing people" blah blah blah

She seems to be the only duggar that went though and I thought they had to have accountability partner siblings?

I looked at her IG again and only saw a giant group fundie photo with a prison-related caption. I think I spotted Jinger toward the back/right and Josiah may have been in the front row toward the left.

Wearing a bow tie of course....

It's where you preach to a literally captive audience that has little hope, a lot of free time and nothing really to lose.

Snark aside, I'd be interested to know what this involves, too.

"literally captive audience" lol. That's perfect.

I work in a prison and I can verify that prisoners will literally go hear ANYONE talk about anything. Not all of the prisoners will go to everything of course, but there's always a good crowd.

Prison is really boring. Same old, same old every single day; same faces, same food, same routine. Very little visual stimulation.

Imagine you're in that world and have been for a couple of years, and you hear that there's a ministry group coming in. You'd go. If only for the excitement of seeing a bunch of pretty girls (and boys!) and having some new images in your head to *ahem* self-entertain with....

When I was reading the talk of Jinger at the prison doing ministry work it reminded me of a thread I read here ages ago about Anna and Pricilla doing ministry work with their dad in Florida and has screenshots of Jinger talking about prison ministry from the 'Growing up Duggar' book, I searched and here is the link:

Hopefully it will take you to the correct page but if it doesn't it is page 28, 7th post down the page.

So, Jinger can go to the home of convicts (one was a convicted murderer), but she is not allowed to go visit cousin Amy.  Amy must really be bad! :pb_lol:

I'm not surprised. The Duggar Scale of Sin goes something like this:

WORST SINS EVAR: Dressing like a harlot, watching porn, having premarital sex, being LGBT

You're a bad person and we will condescendingly pray for you: Not wanting 20 kids, following a religion that is not Gothardite Christianity, wearing jeans but not quite dressing like a harlot

As long as you say that you love Jeebus it's cool: sexually assaulting your own sisters, creating an entire program to gain access to girls for you to rape and sexually harass, cheating on your wife, murdering people (unless they're fetuses), misappropriating charitable donations

As a person who was once an inmate in a state correctional facility,  I'll agree with the person who works in a prison in that going to a bible study or church meeting can be a time filler.  For myself, it was a link to the outside world and a positive place to be involved in for a few hours a week.  I am not a Christian, however I valued the relationships I formed as a part of the Lutheran group I attended.  In fact, it has been much more than a decade and I still value the friendship I have with two of the ministry leaders.   Of course, this was no fire and brimstone, jam it down your throat, you will burn in hell type of ministry.  The ladies involved were more about building us up and focused on helping us see our own inherent worth.  They acted as an extension of Gods' grace (their words).  We had many various faith groups as well as a couple of church services to choose from.  It was a good thing.   Personally, I stayed very busy with work (AutoCAD), multiple therapy, faith  and recovery groups. I credit the Lutheran group for helping me gain the insight and courage to change the person I had become.  For the record, I am not a murderer, just a person who used to have a nasty drug habit.  Once I got myself into that pickle, all I wanted to do was get the hell out of it.  Thankfully, I left my drug problem behind me along with my incarceration and haven't looked back since.  I got a little off track there.  All I wanted to say was that prison ministry can be a very useful thing if done with the right intentions.
