John "The Hot One" Maxwell Leaving the Country

They will meet someone that went out of the country, but where will never be specified. He will gross the Moody kids out with his tale of how he ate a slimy snake. What he did and who he was with won't ever be specified - he might be called a missionary, but that's about it.

And the kids will be inspired to support missionaries, but will talk about how they want to stay home to support their families.

There will also be a lot of boring, mundane dialogue about how the missionary Moody kid was so homesick and disturbed by the thing he (it would never be a GIRL) saw out in the world, that at least he realizes deep down in his heart that Father Moody was right all along and the place that he (and every other child on earth) belongs is at home with his family forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever.

Sorry about that. I was kind of channeling those terrifying Shining twins for a second.

Is it wrong of me to hope that, wherever the hell John is (and really Steve, I don't give two shits), he got laid?

Nope. I've been having the same dirty thoughts. A dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Anyone think Angela is trying to become John's helpmeet.

John, thank you for keeping us updated! :) Those experiences helps us a lot to be grateful to God for so many things that he has provided us even the smallest things, we are so blessed in this country and we don’t see it. I have done a long fast, and only that has helped me to be grateful to God for so many thing that we can do and have and we never are grateful. I know that all these experiences helps us grow more each day and teaches us how to be humble and have a heart like Jesus. I wish you the best! God bless you and keep you safe always!

Maybe, but her writing is even worse than Sarah's, so she wouldn't pass the test.

Ick. I hate it when overwrought women throw themselves at men.

I'll be in the bar. Let me know when she's gone.

I'd jump for joy if John managed a first kiss! Or even first unchaperoned conversation with a member of the opposite sex. By the looks of it he was mixing solely with men and boys on this trip so Steve assumed John's virtue was unassailed.

Pray? Fast? Pray and fast?

Hell, no. The Maxwells don't pay any attention to world events. The Maxwells won't care about an earthquake if a Maxwell isn't at the epicenter.

The Maxwells weep, fast and pray for the generic unsaved - who don't know where they will go when they die. They ask for prayers for themselves very frequently, but have we ever observed them asking for prayers for other people or families? Nah, I thought not.

If John's what some might call a tourist trip was only 2 weeks he is home by now anyway.

Wait, wait -- what about the figure in the pink salwar kameez? The one that seemed to have a white belt, then it was determined the white was simply some paper??

I wonder how Steve would feel about what some might call an interracial courtship. Intercultural courtship? (IMHO we are ONE race: human)

Yikes, this sounds like a really devastating one - between Pokhara and Kathmandu. Kathmandu has a population of one million, plus Pokhara is where many Himalayan treks start out from, and this is the season when climbers head to Everest. Haven't heard too much yet, but I am anticipating some horrific news as days go on. How very sad. (Sorry to be off topic.)

I really hope Steve doesn't use this earthquake to make John think God was displeased with him for going overseas.

Holy crap. That's just sick.

(Of Steve, I mean, not you Anjulibai.)

Unless he reads it here, Steve won't even know about the earthquake, since they don't watch the news or take a newspaper.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that Steve *ahem* religiously reads here. I think Steve knows a lot more than he lets on. He can't let the heathens (and his kids) have the upper hand.

I don't mean this to sound opportunistic in any way, but it has occurred to me that this tragic earthquake might provide the cracks-in-his-paradigm-foundation that gives John a chance to continue reaching out of MaxwellWorld...

As he hears the news, I think it would be natural for John, assuming his trip was to anywhere in the general region, to feel an emotional connection. In particular he might feel empathetic toward any of the folks he met or worked with on his trip. He might feel a desire to keep up on the news, or to contact his new friends to offer his condolences, or good wishes, or even some funds or other resources.

He might even *gasp* wish to make a return trip to help with the recovery/rebuilding effort. His feelings along these lines might be without judgement as to the religious nature (or lack thereof) of the people affected. He might *not* think that their pain and suffering is due to the people not being sufficiently Jesusy.

It sounds like, if he experiences anything along these lines, that it might be a first for a Maxwell to have this kind of non-judgy empathy.

If that's the case, I hope it will open John's eyes, and that he will respond as generously and as humanely as he chooses, regardless of any pressure to the contrary from his family.

So what is Steve's biblical reasoning for not following the news?

Everybody relax. If God thinks Steve needs to know about something going on in the world, he just lays it upon his heart to go the store and pick up the fixings need for an X-large batch of bean filling , so he can hear people talk about it while he is waiting in the line to check out.

Chill, the Lord Jesus has it all covered.

I think Steve is more aware of the world than we imagine. He has to be in order to keep his childults from it. I just don't think he cares what happens to others. Only he matters.

One time he watched the news and saw a Victoria's Secret commercial, which was pornographic and caused him to lust and feel violated. Therefore, nobody should ever watch the news.

Don't recall. Someone more familiar with the bowels of Tits2 could probably answer your Q, if Steve has said anything at all about the subject.
