If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.

A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

I know a Republican who is a non believer and he wants God to be taken off currency.

This was my cousin about a month ago (complete with misuse of the word "know", seriously):

If you didn't watch the debate last night I want to incourage everyone to watch on October the 16th. The debate last night was great!! Mitt had Obama just where he wanted him. I hope if you are an Obama supporter that you will watch all the debate. The USA can't take 4 more years of Obama. I believe that if Obama wins this might be the end of the United States as we no it. Please if you are not registered get registered and watch the debate. It is very clear that Mitt has the best way forward. If the past four years has been hard on you wait until the next four if Obama gets in, it will be terrible. Mark my words. Please don't let this happen, Vote Romney!!!!!!

And today, something of a change in tone but still moralizing:

Today I am praying for our nation and that God will have mercy on us as we have lost the moral compass that a stablished the USA. God is in control of today's outcome. Just remember that whoever wins is just a man that Jesus Christ controls. May God's will be done. Amen.

I will be so glad when the election is over.

This was a post from my fundie-lite cousin this past summer who is slowly becoming full on fundie.

A little girl in the neighborhood just came over to play, and the girls told her they couldn't play with her until she had some modest clothes on. So they offered her a shirt and she accepted and now they are all playing nicely. I am so proud of them. :)

My comment:

Humor me. What could a little girl possibly be wearing that would be considered immodest

Her response:

A top with spaghetti straps. It is not her age, it is the style of clothing.

This. Thank you for saying this- it has been my opinion that most Europeans won't have optimal health on a completely vegetarian diet, and some will actually get pretty ill, it is genetics. I've had way too many vegetarians/vegans try to argue this with me.

Me, too. I'm of Norwegian and German descent, and when I try to go veggier, I see my energy and stamina plummet. I also cannot digest beans worth a crap--I eat them, but can't eat them more than twice a week or my tummy can't handle it. I appreciate your words--I've gotten the guilt trip from vegetarians, and it sucks. My ancestors ate cheese, rye bread, fish, elk, berries and potatoes, and lots of cream.

I've tried going veggie for cost reasons before, but I get the same thing -- low energy and depressed mood, no matter how carefully I balance it. Scots-Norweigen descent tends to rule my genes, so I guess our sample size of four is leaning towards the cold climate thing, but I'd be interested to see some real science on the subject. If I didn't have oodles of chemistry homework to do I'd be on the scientific databases right away. Of course, it might not have been studied that much, and it might be hard to get a balanced sample because location is also tied up with prosperity in a lot of the world.

I've got a 'friend' (for Farmville purposes only) who's posted the following recently:

I have an honest question--how can we as Christians support a President--who Stated he SUPPORTS same sex marriage--along with abortions----support him--Knowing where GOD stands on this issue.I would truly like an answer-----

ok folks---if I proclaim I am a Christian and I would (which I am NOT) vote for O---who supports ABORTIONS and Same sex MARRIAGE---then does that not mean That I too support the same things as he does? (No I do not agree with all either side say--But I DO NOT support these 2 issues) I read my Bible --and it still says the same thing today as when it was first written------

REALLY

Most people believe the next election is all about whether or not Obama will have a second term.

But it's not.

The truth is, the next election has already been decided. Obama is going to win. It's nearly impossible to beat an incumbent president.

What's actually at stake right now is whether or not he will have a third-term.

There's a secret to understanding how we know Obama will seek

a third term.

There's a secret to how he'll garner the power to win, yet again... and keep power through 2020 – or even beyond.

These things will change the political climate here and abroad. These new forces will increase the wealth of the United States and improve our standing in the world economy. But... in the process... they will also empower the president of the United States... perhaps enabling him to implement the most terrifying socialist policies in the history of our country.

Written by Porter Stansberry

And random crap from the Tea Party and various other conservative pages.

What's that link that lists what the bible says about abortion? I'm tempted to reply with that before I un-friend.

And another acquaintance who posted

"Let his days be few; and let another take his office."

-Psalm 109:8

but is otherwise religious but not too fundie, at least on FB.

Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. The American people just betrayed our country for 30 days of birth control pills. Lord, have mercy.

Yeah, exactly. I paid him in birth control pills, didn't you know?

The crazy must have been 90% off at Aldi or something. Not who the person they quoted is, but I'm betting he's a birther, Obama's-a-Muslim-Socialist type.

I'm probably missing most of the crazy from my in-laws, because I haven't friended most of them on Facebook (just for this reason, because I like my sanity). I'll have to take notes at Thanksgiving dinner, though, because I know there will be some gems there. Conservative all the way, even the nephew-in-law who's unemployed, wife is unemployed (by his choice, he's afraid she'll meet another guy at work or something crazy), and they had a baby born 3 months early, scads of hospital time that they didn't pay for, and yet they still bitch and moan about Obama and the welfare-state crap.

Oh, puleeze. I'm a Democrat and a 25-year vegetarian who *never* thought everyone should be or even could be. There are militant veggie "fundies" and just as with religion, they think everyone should be just like them. But if you're reasonable and you keep your eyes open, you realize pretty early on that not everyone *can* be completely vegetarian. They just don't have the physiology for it. My feeling is that it has something to do with ancestry. If your ancestors lived in warm climates for thousands of years where plant life abounded, they were largely vegetarian, hence you can be too. But if they lived in severe climates where plant life was scarce and eating meat was how you survived, you can't do without it completely -- cut back, yes, but not do without completely.

That is really interesting and I never thought of it that way. I've been "guilted" on eating meat by some... and others look at me like "Whaaaaaa?" when I said I was cutting WAY back on it. But it makes sense, what you said. I've tried to go without meat entirely but my body just does NOT like it. I could do a week or so, but then... well, it's not pretty. So I just cut back a lot, and eat mainly veggies. :) Some grains. Can't do dairy anyways. (Boo!)

My grandmother's status last night: "Today we renewed our concealed weapons permits. You never know when you might need a peacemaker."

Some of the responses:

Way to go Mrs H----!!!! I never knew you were a pistol packing teacher! LOL!!!!!!!!!

Yep because if he wins again he wants to do away with our right to bear arms!!

(My grandma) I won't have to renew it for 8 years and by then I'll probably be too old to care! I need to stock up on ammo for my 38 special. A person can't be too well prepared these days!

Yes ma'am. If Obama wins most definitely stock up on as much ammo as you can.

I am very happy with my GLOCK .40. Very dependable, trusted by law enforcement to defend thier lives with. It even fires underwater. Pricey though...mine was just over $600 but worth every penny. I have my permit in Michigan, but will have to retake the class in Nevada. Congrats on the renewal...and I'm sure you've kept sharp with practice, right?

Sister J--, renewing a gun permit might not be the best idea at this moment. Now the Feds have your present address to come and collect them. None of my guns are registered with anyone!

:angry-screaming:

my grandma goes to a crazy independent baptist church in redneck central fl that teaches that all church members must own guns and must carry them at all times. of course it's illegal in FL (and probably most states) to carry a gun in church. but what the preeecher is more important than the gubmint, amirite?

Lol... Just saw one that says if you are complaining about the results you are not a good enough Christian because Jesus will always provide and you are not trusting him enough. Also, you are being foolish by putting all your faith in one man (um...). At the end, he did acknowledge that others might have different beliefs but should similarly trust those rather than putting your faith in one man/party. And not showing "love" to the winning candidate is mean. I love when fundies try to out fundy each other! This one wins for best comment of my news feed.

ETA Not totally sure if he is fundy, don't actually know which Christian denomination he belongs to. Definitely holier than thou though!!

Um... if they think Obama's going to violate the second amendment and take all the guns, why do they think he'd honor concealed carry permits?

And that cartoon is disturbing, Sprocket. The lips are freaking me out.

I cringe when people do that. (Hey, um, vegetarian dude? Do *you* like it when people tell you you need to eat meat? No? Then why are you telling them they DON'T need to eat meat? Same idiotic behavior.)

I'm all for people becoming "flexitarian" rather than vegetarian. Cut your meat consumption by a third or half, and see how you feel. Or start by doing a veggie "day" a week, or just three veggie meals a week if you can't do a whole day at once. In the US at least, almost everyone could cut their meat consumption pretty significantly, and they'd be healthier for it. Much easier than trying for full-blown vegetarian right away, and it acknowledges physiological differences for those who can't cut meat out completely. DH just hates beans (and I love 'em ;-) ), plus he just needs some meat. But he's comfortable now with two lean beef burger meals a week to give him what he needs and veggie heaven ;-) the rest of the time at home, with the occasional steak splurge thrown in. That's a really significant change for a guy who used to have meat at every meal.

Apparently cousin is pissed about God's choices:

It's because of attitudes* like this why America is doomed and will never be on top again and it will keep turning away from God. When God judges you and these people may he have mercy.

The forefathers that built this country are rolling over in there graves. This is so sad..

*The "attitudes" in question are pro-marriage equality, moderate pro-choice, and pro-helping the poor. And you can't even blame SOTDRT for this one, he's just an idiot.

Thanks for sharing that, SlickCat. Such logic fail: God is responsible for the outcome of the election, but God will punish America for it.

Also, "a stablished"?
