He didn't officiate.  The funeral home direcctor conducted the service.

Goodness knows.  It rather sounds like JB tried to insert himself and got shoved out.

Ok, now I’m confused. I thought it said Ben Seewald presided. Maybe I read it wrong.

The obit at one time said Ben was going to preside.  Things changed by the time the funeral actually happened.

It’s all so weird. There’s no reason whoever wrote the obituary would have assumed Ben would officiate at the funeral of his wife’s great uncle who he may have met a handful of times -if ever.  Was he asked by the husband? Did he ask the husband? And one or the other declined? Some other friend or relative who wrote the obituary got confused? Odd

Tommy and Lawrence have been married since 2015. I assume that Tommy was estranged from the family from the time he got together with Lawrence. This to say that it's doubtful that Lawrence wrote the obit. Has he ever met Ben Seewald, let alone know he's a pastor?

I tend to think that a Duggar wrote the obit and inserted Ben's name. I wonder how much time the funeral home had to send their guy in to officiate? Seeing the pictures provided by the Sun, Tommy was buried with military honors, so that's good.

I went an old colony Mennonite funeral once and whooooo boy that was odd. The minister spoke in English but made it a point to note that he didn't WANT to - he didn't LIKE doing that but the family had asked. And then spent a lot of time fire & brimstone-ing and it was just awkward. I was raised Catholic - but this was something ... else entirely.

Raised Catholic here also. Have to say it's one thing they get right (at least for people like me). Have a Mass. The Mass is the same for everybody. If family and friends want to speak that can be arranged, but the service is the same no matter who you were or what you did.

Here in my Catholic diocese, they stopped allowing eulogies at the funeral service by anyone other than the priest.  If family members or friends want to give a eulogy, they do it at the wake.

I used to sing in my church's funeral choir. After two disastrous, lengthy, eulogies by non-priests, (one was trying to get an altar call going) where the speakers had to be escorted off the altar, non-priests were not permitted to speak, either, at my church.

I (not Catholic but married to one) gave the eulogy for my son at his funeral Mass.  I was just asked to keep it to a certain time limit and make a reference to "the life of faith" of the deceased.  They may have been a little more flexible with us given that "the deceased" was 4 years old.

So... did I miss any announcements, or is there no (officially) pregnant Duggars at the moment? If there were, I think that JB would be happy to announce it just to take some attention away from the SHP-documentary.

Or Jinger? The girls are five and (almost) three now. I can see them trying for a third (as in "trying for a boy").

I don’t know. A boy demands another bedroom. Right now they “need”….

  1. Jeremy and Jinger’s room
  2. Jeremys library/office
  3. Workout room
  4. Girls room
  5. Guest room

Adding another room at LA housing prices might be too much.

The pictures of her pregnant were from early April. It’s believed that she had a boy in early May.

When Joy announced her pregnancy in the fall JB stated that it would be grandchild #30. We  only had evidence of 28 grandDuggars at that time, including the 2 speculated for Kendra and Lauren from the spring of 2022.

Registry was found for Lauren for a baby boy due in early May, 2023.

Pictures of a very pregnant Lauren from early April surface.

JB heard saying he had 15 grandsons and 15 granddaughters after Gunner was born solving the mystery of #29.

There is also the recent Caldwell family pic with Kendra holding a young toddler/older infant and her with the same kid in Jinger's recent video from her trip home late March.  That video also had brief glimpses of a very pregnant Lauren.

We had an uncle come in and take charge of my grandpas funeral. The pastor he picked went on and on about the evils of Pagans and Jewish. Half the family is Pagan and Grandpa converted to marry Grandma who was Jewish.

I think that James is back down under. This is a screenshot from his IG story. I don't recognize the city, but it's the Quantas logo on the plane. I guess he's serious about one of the Lim sisters.
