(CW: CSA) Josh & Anna 41: Will the Rebers Continue their B&B for Child Predators After the Trial?

If I had to guess, Bush will testify only on what wasn't there and the Defense will try to not ask her questions about the Linux side. There are slimy expert witnesses out there, for sure, but if you want to keep your professional credentials and your reputation, you don't dick around no matter which side calls you.

Can someone techy answer for me, how common is a partition? I wouldnt have a clue!

It's somewhat less common for Windows users, unless they want to dual-boot Linux. But it's actually really common for college students who have Macs, who may need to run Windows-only programs for their classes. So very common for people in certain circumstances, but less common for many casual users, especially casual Windows users.

Common enough that a completely tech illiterate old person like me had one on some computer or another 15? Years ago to separate out confidential work files that were in some particular program from my personal files . I had my teenage son walk me through it.

I'm not techy but partitions are really common... I'd say especially for Mac users. When Mac started using Intel processors everybody wanted to partition their Macbooks so one side ran Mac OS and the other ran Windows, so they could use software made for both on the same machine. He's old enough to have been doing that I think.

I've partitioned a drive before, to have one set aside as a Photoshop scratch disk so it didn't flood the other side where files were stored.

The fact that she said the Mac contained no CSA images. Just realised that of course Josh only used the partitioned side of the Windows for his depravity  and not the Mac. That will teach me to watch the trial blog, post here, and do my assignment at the same time.
Sorry for causing confusion!

I’m nit surprised he didn’t look at any of that on the Mac and even wonder if he looked at normal porn on there or his iPhone? I would assume that he and Anna would be on the same cloud, like she’d be aloud to have her own, so he kept it on the windows in fear of something be shared or uploaded by accident. Makes perfect sense to have the Windows PC at work for that reason alone. Another way to hide and cover it up

Earlier testimony reported that the iPhone did have Tor and did access adult (legal, normal) porn. It's unclear to me if this is a problem with the mobile version of Covenant Eyes not catching Tor or not, since the CEO claims their desktop application can monitor a Tor browser provided it is running on a Windows or Mac, but not on a Linux system.

So the "But I am a Mac Guy" argument isn't really helping then in terms of knowledge of partitions 😂

With 12 jurors, I'm sure there will at least a few who can explain the more IT related stuff to to the others.

The defense isn't going to fool them with the "He's a Mac guy!" BS.

He must have been thrilled to go work at the car lot. Really.

Small office, PC, very few other people around, built in excuse to "work" late...

Perfect setup for him!

I wonder if the Mac guy argument is their strongest defense….

I got so angry when I read that. What could he be saying to her? I doubt it's a sincere apology. He's probably trying to convince her that Bobye is lying or exaggerating, that he was just a curious kid and the devil make him do it. I don't understand how Austin just doesn't punch him if the face.
What if they are still all in his corner? And believe him and the conspiracy theory that he has been framed by some democrats now that Biden is presdient.
I just want him to rot in prison for the rest of his pathetic life.

Sorry to wander off topic backwards, but Bobye's testimony must have been hard for Anna. The content of course, but she was Josh's second choice in effect.

I cannot understand her blindly supporting him but if this doesnt break her, its too late. Her heart is stone.

I heard Anna did not know about the betrothal prior to marriage but did find out within a year or so of marriage and was very upset.  Apparently, it was a big part of why she wanted to move to DC.

From the Sun? This all agrees with the Prosecution though;

The Prosecution asserts that there was no CSAM on the Windows side of the partition. This isn't news. They're just trying to highlight where the CSAM wasn't, which is pointless, because it's like pointing to a clean part of the floor at a murder scene.

I think the point they're going to eventually make is that Josh, to use your analogy, was smart enough to know downloading on Windows, with the CE software, would be like committing the murder on your mother's finest white carpet and there is no cleaning up the blood. Josh knew, by installing Linux, he was committing murder in the garage. He just didn't know the victim was being tracked to his garage and the investigators were going to show up with luminol.

It all goes back to proving that it wasn't a bumpkin's bumbling accident or someone remotely, but a carefully calculated act of someone who knew just enough about tech to think he wouldn't get in trouble.

Well, to be fair, they haven't finished putting on a defense.

They also have "It could have been someone at McDonald's".  We know that much.

The defense is trying to prove that because Josh is a "Mac guy", he doesn't know how to do anything on a Windows PC.  Therefore, somebody else did it because he doesn't know how.

All of those late nights must be why she thinks he was such a “diligent provider”

I know they've just started their portion of the trial, but so far the only defenses I've seen reported are "he's too stupid to know how to do that" (knocked down by two people explaining he is relatively tech savvy, comparatively) and "but he's a Mac guy!" (which in actual fact supports the prosecution, because it makes it more likely he'd have experience setting up a partition).

All else I've seen is along the lines of "but he didn't view it on this other device, or this other device..." which is like trying to say a roof doesn't leak because this corner over here is dry, and that one over there is too... just ignore the big puddle in the middle of the room.

Most people would never have the need to do it, but fairly common among more techy people for one reason or another.

ETA sorry I didn't see this had been answered better thread.  Trying to keep up.

I have never heard this. Didn’t they move to DC so Trash could pursue his political dreams?  It had to have been extremely hard for her to leave the family, so I assumed it wasn’t her choice.

The Sun is reporting Jessa left the courtroom just before lunch break.  Also it was Jason, not Jed that showed up today.
