Yeah I can agree having partitions is common for techy people, but I don't know for other people. The most common reason I see is to use  Mac or Linux for work / programming, and windows for gaming. The vast majority of people doing it have zero nefarious intentions.

I have a partition on my Mac and I’m not a techy person. I needed to run a Windows-based program for work, so my husband created the partition. He didn’t know how, but we figured it out fairly quickly just by searching it on Google.

Sounds to me like they are trying to confuse the jury.  I don't think it's working.

I hope not.  I've been in IT for a long time and my fellows in tech I'm sure can back me up....some people have a mental block when it comes to computer stuff like some do with math.  They assume they won't understand so they just nod as they listen to what sounds like the adults in the old Peanuts comics.  Whaaaah wahhhhh wahhhh.

I've had a lot of smart end users so baffled by technology if I told them I needed to get my cable tester to clear out the swishing packets and backend exchange cache in order to remap their network drives and they'd nod in agreement, thank me, and make some comment about how complicated this all is.

They believe utter nonsense because they pre-emptively think they won't understand so they defer to the person who seems to know what they're talking about.  The prosecution has to break this down in ELI5 language to show how it's nonsense.

Does anyone know if Anna, Joy, and Derrick sat through Bobeye Holt’s testimony?

Yes all 3 of them did, so did Jessa (she came for the morning and then left).  As did at least two Duggar boys (adult Howlers - not JD, Joe or Josiah).

The Sun now has pics of Jason and James leaving for lunch. And yeah, I can definitely see why they mistook Jason for Jed this morning. With the similar facial hair they're almost identical!

I've seen this too - my mom took computer classes, used computers for many years at work, was totally competent using a PC laptop AND her iPhone... yet when she switched to a MacBook there was a week or two where she just seemed to completely forget anything and everything she'd ever known about computers. It was like it was in another language, or she'd never seen a computer before in her life. She figured it out, soon enough, but if most of the jury aren't frequent computer users or are unfamiliar with Macs at all, they might be bamboozled despite the Mac devices having nothing whatsoever to do with the PC and the CSAM.

(For the non-Mac users reading - a Mac is just a computer. There's no magical difference that makes it incomprehensible to PC users. I find them easier because they stay out of your way and let you work!)

When you write it like that it sounds like it rhymes with Popeye in my head.  I know none of this is funny, but that made me laugh.

Does anyone think Smugger is smug enough to take the stand?

It would have to be against strong advice to the contrary by his lawyers but nothing would make me happier.

I'd have to call out sick to follow that.

And this.  So someone snuck in and did all that and just happened to download the stuff he wants to view over and over?  What a coincidence that would be.

Since he's charged with two distinct charges, is it possible that even if the jury is tech-bamboozled into thinking it's possible someone did the download remotely (acquiring charge), he could still be convicted on the possession charge?

I don't think I've seen an adult male Duggar look as miserable as Jason or James (and yes that includes the predator who's trial they're attending).   My heart is breaking for Joy and Austin who look (and probably are) even more heartbroken.

I actually went cross eyed reading this, briefly considered if you had reverted to talking in an alien dialect and then concluded I really REALLY like my slateboard 😂

Hire me! I doubt I’d do any better but I could use the money.

I wish I could hire you to sit at my house and read the threads to me while I actually get some work done. I have white cheddar cheetos and lots of chocolate to snack on.

It’s a random selection of siblings turning up. I can see why the daughters may want to listen if they are going to be talked about (but it must be horrible) but Jason and James? Show support for their brother without behaving like an idiot like Justin? Mrs Spivey must have been thrilled to have her favourite Duggar boys there.

It took me a moment to realize the snacks were mentioned to lure @Father Son Holy Goat and not as a description of the "work" you need to get done! ☺️

Jessa doesn’t seem sensitive so I’m not surprised. I see her as the mouthpiece for JB and protect brand by being positive  without the thumb’s up like Justin. Source is The Sun

OMG the expressions on James and Jason's faces!  The are clearly upset over what they've heard today.😢

Any defense attorney worth their salt would move mountains to keep their clients from testifying,  but I’m sure Josh is arrogant enough to want to.

I wonder how they can tell she is smiling if they are all wearing masks in the court room.

It's really hard to read people we don't know, no matter how long they've been on our tvs.  It's even harder to read people who are from insular abusive social environments where their reactions may be completely foreign to mainstream people.  Even harder when it's about something traumatic where people can react in really surprising ways.

My mom spent her life pretending everything was fine when it wasn't, the more emotionally charged a situation especially triggering her abuse the more superficial and chatty and positively sparkly she got.

I'm not saying that's Jessa's deal, I'm saying none of us know these people and for me I'm giving victims the benefit of the doubt unless and until they prove otherwise.

Joy is holding on to Austin so tightly her knuckles are white. 😭

I spoilered by accident and can't figure out how to undo it on my phone.

I’ve been on the fence about Austin, but something about him makes me think he might be the one to snap and dish out some street justice.   In any case—he clearly loves Joy very much and cares about her and her feelings as a person, not a broodmare.
