2020 Election Results Part 6: A President-Elect Who Will Make Trump Irrelevant Again!!

It sucks that Biden won't be able to really do anything until January, but I've made a decision.  From now on he's the President.  Anything he says, I will listen to and believe.  Any recommendations he makes, I will follow.

For four years we've had Trump, a barely human cesspool who's made it clear he only cares about himself and he's perfectly willing to burn the whole nation down on a whim.  He's lost us the respect of our allies and cozied up to the worst examples of foreign leadership currently in power.  He's lied so much that the fact checkers have to work around the clock to keep up.

He's caused damage that will take years to overcome, and he's done it defiantly and delightedly.  He's encouraged divisiveness, dishonesty, and violence.  He has no honor.  He's incredibly stupid and easy to manipulate while also being hard to manage.  He's his own, and our nations, worst enemy.

I'm not going to give Trump or his supporters another second of my time.  He lost any respect I might have tried to muster long ago.  Don't think I'll forget, though, the people who allowed him to flourish through inaction.  I won't forget the ones who helped him, nor will I forget the ones who used him to further their own agendas.

Joe Biden is in charge now.  Joe says to remain calm and follow his lead.  I'll do that.  I won't rub the election results in the face of any Trumpers I may know or meet.  I've done it privately in my home and here on FJ.  If asked by others what I think, I'll decide on a case by case basis how to respond, with the goal to not make things worse for those who are feeling bad.  I'll try to be respectful of their feelings, and hide my own feelings of relief and delight.

Joe and Kamala have a much more difficult job.  They're going to have to work with people like Mitch McConnell and his cohorts, and that bunch will make it their mission in life to keep Trumpism alive.

I think I will try to follow your lead. Fortunately, I have very few people among my acquaintance who I even suspect might have noted for Trump. These days, I don't see them much because of isolating due to the pandemic.

It wouldn't surprise me that Mr. Hands Down His Pants picked the spot cause he saw it was next to an "adult" store.

I know we have two and a half months until Inauguration, but Joe and Kamala's speeches tonight made me feel so hopeful. I thinking about the song, "The Future Is So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades."

I slept a solid 8 hours last night, and woke up basking in the joy of the (soon to be irrelevant) Menace's political demise. It's a good day.

the word political was VERY important for my meaning!

The fact that Rudy is still in the Trump admin orbit is just...amazing. And not in a good way?

That’s because it is.

I live in a very red area and the posts I’m seeing on FB are beyond belief. One would think President Perfection was being illegitimately and illegally ousted by President-elect Satan Socialist. There is no resemblance to reality and no acknowledgement of any of Trump’s extensive character flaws, of which toddler tantrums are prominent. Why can’t they see see him as he is?
Just so you all know, we are about to be put in permanent lockdown, will lose all of our 1st & 2nd Amendment rights, will be forcibly vaccinated, the country will be communist, criminals will be idolized, police attacked & killed, rioting & killings will be the norm everywhere. Because Democrats.

My mother-in-law (who is honestly one of the stupidest people I have ever known--can't spell much more than her own name for starters) is convinced that a Biden administration will be telling her which store she must buy all her groceries at. We don't know where she got this idea and when asked to explain what the purpose of that would be or how it would possibly be enforced, she just says "I don't know, but that's what's going to happen". Husband and sister-in-law are coming to the painful realization that their parents are ignorant and gullible. They have never even been remotely interested in politics until this election and some extended family feeding them Trump cult nonsense.

I simply love that Twitter is putting warnings on all of Trump's tweets now. Much too late in the game, but still.

Now if only they could alter the message to say "This claim about election fraud is a bald-faced lie"...

@Flossie, I’m with you 100%. If Biden or Kamala Harris* were to walk into my house at this moment I would immediately greet them with “madam vp” or “mr president.” I doubt I’d even think of the word “-elect” until after they left!

* I need to make a point of referring to them as either Joe & Kamala or Biden & Harris. Me calling them Biden & Kamala isn’t being “endearing” towards The VP-elect, it’s me being sexist.

I've called her Kamala for months now, but that has more to do with the fact that I voted for her three times than anything else, and the only reason that I didn't vote for her in the primaries is she'd already become mathematically impossible. She was already familiar to me and I liked her (and am still sorry she's not at the top of the ticket).

Biden is more of a black box to me, so he doesn't get a first name.

Another reason for Biden-Kamala might be that Joe and Harris seem like more generic names and if you mention "Joe" without a context people may take a minute to figure out who the hell you're talking about but if you mention "Kamala" everyone pretty much knows.

Rick Santorum (****ing Rick Santorum!) was providing commentary this past week and looking mighty pleased to be considered at least quasi relevant again. If that wasn't bad enough, Newt Gingrich, one of the key architects of a fractured America and a lying liar who lies plus his wife Callista is the US Ambassador to the Holy See, was on Fox being a lying liar by promoting the stolen election narrative.

Happily, Rick has already sunk back into The Swamp and also happily, Callista (divorced adulteress!)  will be redundant in oh, about 73 or so days.

*exhales*  It's all going to be OK!

I use Harris's own description that her name is pronounced 'like the punctuation mark, "Comma - la".'   My brain often tries to apply Spanish pronunciation rules if a word is unfamiliar, so it can be a challenge to remember to think/say COMM-a-luh, at least until I've heard it more often (I read my news rather than watch, so rarely hear her name said out loud).

One acquaintance of mine recently said it as if it rhymes with Pamela, including that flat 'a'.  Like Camel-uh.

Our conversation wasn't about politics so I couldn't use context to help me process.  We were on the phone so no nonverbal clues either.  I actually said "who's that?," thinking she HAD said "Pamela", and my acquaintance had to say "you know, she's running for vice president."

I was so thrown by the flat 'a' that I didn't even think to appreciate that my acquaintance had at least gotten the syllable emphasis correct.

Well, honestly the whole concept that some Trump supporters seem to be following is baffling, to say the least.

I mean, they say he wants to abort babies. The thought alone is just... so WTF. do they think he'll be walking around the streets, pointing at random pregnant woman and decide that they need to get an abortion?! (I know it's because they think every live is sacred etc.. and yea, i agree to some point to that. Every Live is sacred, but if a woman is so poor she cannot feed the family she already has, or she was raped or accidentaly got pregnant, and is in no position to feed a family, she will not be able to provide that baby with what a baby should have, in my eyes, and then SHE should be able to make the decision herself, and that would show much more how sacred a life is. Not birthing as many people as possible, but as soon as the baby is born, wham, who cares. I'm gonna stop here, because I am sure you all get the point because I strongly believe most of you - unlike fundies understand that saying that you don't want to make abortion illegal does not mean you say: hey guys, go out and abort as many children as possible?!)

Also the thing about guns. I generally do not get the whole gun thing, where it is patriotic to carry a gun (not saying everybody thinks that) - but if in my town there would be people running around with guns, I'd be terrified. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, It was never said everybody has to give all of their guns away. I think some people are really having difficulties to differentiate nuances?!

I think I'm going to stop ranting now..

Yep.  My money is them having so much dirt on each other it's only safe for both of them if they maintain the relationship.
