Regarding the Royals- I seriously doubt you’d ever catch Queen Elizabeth, Charles, William, or Harry blaming the victims of a high school shooting for not noticing signs that the killer was a threat. Or have news break on Valentine’s Day that the porn Star they had an affair with when their wife was three months postpartum is ready to give interviews about the affair because their lawyer violated the NDA. Or possibly have your tax dollars wasted on a stupid military parade meant to pump up their egos or on trips to their privately owned businesses.

Seriously. It could be A LOT worse. At least the Queen has no actual power and at least she herself has served with a decent amount of dignity and grace. Brits will probably look back on Elizabeth’s reign in the future and at least be able to find some comfort and pride regardless of who your Prime Minister was during those years. Americans aren’t going to be able to do that during the Trump era because we have no neutral figurehead to look up to. All we have is Trump.

Sooo...steakhouse as in you only get the steak and all the sides are a la carte? There’s literally just a steak there. Where’s the rest?

When hubby and I make a steak dinner there’s some kind of wacky potato variation that we dream up, roasted veggies, salad. Sometimes some sautéed mushrooms. And my hubby isn’t the #besthubbyever he’s just above average.

I feel like #justaveragehubby should be the new response to Jill.

- Derick made a normalish dinner on Valentine's Day and is the best hubby ever? Well, my hubby is an Accountant and managed to come home at a normal hour with beautiful flowers. #justaveragehubby

- Derick played with Izzy for two seconds, didn’t lecture him for age appropriate behavior, and is the best hubby for it? Well, my husband rocked the baby at 2:30 in the morning on a work night because I was exhausted and she wouldn’t stop crying. #justaveragehubby

Yeah, I was up at 3 am for William and Kate's wedding, and we all wore plastic tiaras and ate crumpets and jam. Even my grandma slept over and got up with us, ha. It's a fun family memory.

My mom and I will get up for Harry and Meghan's wedding. I can't wait to see her dress and tiara. She's so effortlessly gorgeous.

Is Jill eying today I overcompensate or is her headship directing her to post flattering things about him? Genuinely wondering cuz I wouldn’t put it past Derick.

As as for the monarchy I am surprised how many people view them as neutral or positive. Yes there is decorum and the Queen doesn’t share her political views but she and her family certainly have them. We have seen members of the family engaged in all sorts of shady business and personal dealings that get swept under the rug. I am not even talking about the new horrific colonial era, I’m talking about recent years

I could see dWRECK passive aggressively saying things like "aren't I the best husband ever?" and Jill posting them because of that. She seems like a very jealous person hence the overcompensation on social media. I imagine she sees the things her sisters post and feels the need to try to 1UP them.

I recently watched a 2016 Hallmark movie in which Meghan Markle was the female love interest. She is effortlessly beautiful. She has a lovely speaking voice. Her photos don't do her justice!

I agree! I have no idea about recent years and I also was excited for Will and Kate’s wedding but the monarchy is in no way neutral.

I don’t hate them (I’ll probably watch the wedding in May) but the romaticization and praise of royals bugs me a bit.

The lineage of that family represents the imperialist superiority of the UK, on which their national identity is built. They fucked a lot of countries and people (including my ancestors) and have never apologized. Actually, no European colonial power has apologized and yet they view themselves as more progressive and dignified than the places they colonized (and the U.S because America’s racism is more blatant)

My petty comment for the day is I hope Harry and Meghan don't dress their kids like Kate and William do. If they're doing it on purpose like someone suggested earlier, fine, but their outfits look so goofy.

George’s public appearance clothes are old fashioned, but he looks adorable. Charlotte looks goofy though? She wears dresses, cardigans, and Mary Janes. Those are just classic little girl clothes; I’ve been putting my own daughter in similar outfits since she was born. (She’s older than Charlotte, by the way.) Anyway, I just can’t imagine Charlotte’s clothing being considered goofy.

I think it looks old fashioned too, tbh. It's more the dramatic side part and the bows...

I have no horse in this race, being from the USA, but I can certainly see both sides of the argument. I tend to lean towards powerless monarchs in general being harmless, if they don't actually cost their countries money (I saw a good video about how this works in the UK last week). Regardless, who knows if I'll watch the royal wedding (I slept through the last one), but I'll trawl for pictures and predict baby names. I like drama and spectacle. :my_blush: Royals in general definitely try to be modern when they inherently never will be, though. Basically, sorry royals but you *are* kind of a relic of a past and not-so-pleasant age.

I had a friend who did that with their little girl's hair just because it was the easiest way to keep it neat and out of her eyes, without cutting bangs.  Charlotte's hair doesn't look like the type to cooperate with bangs anyways.

I don't know how you can judge that when we've never seen her hair any other way? It looks pretty straight. To each their own, I guess. I think both kids look very old fashioned.

At least they’re not those giant bow or flower headbands lol.

My daughter wears all sorts of clothes, but I do really love that old-fashioned little girl look. To me, it’s SO much better than some of the ghastly “modern” things they sell for little girls. Have you been to a kohl’s lately? Oh my word. I’ll stick with my Baby Gap, little Boden, Jojo Maman Bebe, and Olive Juice classics. I buy stuff at WalMart and Target, thredup, and the thrift store; those four brands are just my favorites for timeless pieces that are made well.

I got up at 4am with my mom to watch William and Kate’s wedding . We made eggs Benedict and and drank champagne. Then, later that day, I put on my best fascinator and joined my girlfriends for a tea party and we watched it again.  Ive already arranged for my in laws to keep the boys overnight the weekend of Harry’s wedding.

My grandma loved the royals and introduced them to me at a young age. I think part of my fascination with them is due to the wonderful memories I have of looking through her scrapbooks together. She had all kinds of stuff from the abdication to the Queen’s coronation to Charles and Diana’s wedding.

I’m also right around William and Harry’s age and they were prime celebrity crush material when I was in high school.:my_heart:

It just dawned on me that I’ll be in a Ireland on the wedding day! Which is kinda sad actually, because I’ll be too busy to sit and watch it.

haha yes! I was convinced I was going to marry William some day, and when the girls told me in the school yard that I would never meet him, let alone marry him, I cried. LOL

I know I'm probably a fair bit behind but I slept through the last Royal Wedding and I'll sleep through this one too. I saw the whole thing one way or another, whether I wanted to or not.

I like the Royal Family but I don't care about their weddings.

oh yikes my phone autocorrect. I was trying to say "Is Jill trying to overcompensate or is her headship directing her to post flattering things about him?"

I didn't watch Kate and Wills' nuptials, and I like those two (despite their relative laziness) so I definitely won't be watching Harry and Meghan.  Despite being a Canadian person, I'm pretty meh about the monarchy.  The governor general and the lieutenant governors are a massive waste of money.

But back to a pleasanter topic... Derick and Jillymuffin!  Someone else has probably said this, but compare Jilly's sad Valentine's Day post to Jinger's birthday on December 22.  Sounds like Jeremy put a ton of effort into Jinger's birthday celebrations, and the photos are (as usual) arranged/posed perfectly.  And Jill, inexplicably, posted a picture of a mostly empty table in harsh lighting with a badly-dressed husband and badly plated food and some really underwhelming commentary about her husband.  She's so awful with social media, and it baffles me.

Well, at least they both got sparkling cider.

I love Royal thread drift lol. I have read quotes from journalists who cover the royals and they have said the constant knee socks and things Prince George wears for public outings is just a nobility, traditional thing. They have said William and Kate dress their kids in regular kids clothes in their daily life. I remember Prince Harry talking about  Diana dressing them like that as kids and that he will have a great time doing that to his kids. He was commenting on how ridiculous they looked.

I watched that interview and I understand where he comes from, I used to hate some of the outfits my mum made me wear, my sister hated us matching more but I intend to do the same to my kids, embarrassing outfits and baby photos are a right of passage.

I like some of George's outfits are cute, old fashioned yes but he was never exactly going to be showing up at Royal functions in Jeans and a hoodie.

Going back to Jill's Valentine's Day post for a second: can Derick please remove his crotch from the table next time he's photographed? I'd rather not lose my lunch.

Also- was there only one steak between them? And it was no chateaubriand. If my #bestevahubby served me a half-portion like that, my meat-eating self wouldn't be happy!
