I asked you to educate me about Italian press and you refused. How can poor me reply and criticise if you can't be bothered to educate me? And yes I am playing dumb. I am really curious to know what you know about Italian press and how not-free it is.

Where the serious fuck did she say that?

It is what she didn't say. Just like what I am not saying means I must support Trump.

I wish I could have predicted the future. I would have made my user name be Trumpkin.

Nope. This is the second thread where I have noticed that you go out of your way to avoid criticizing Trump. If one continually refuses to condemn something awful when asked, then it is safe to assume that they don't have a problem with that awful thing.

Hee!  It makes me feel sorry for slow moving otters.  Apparently some are not swift enough to stop pregnant porn stars from stealing their socks.  And as Witherwings was a hippogriff it is not surprising that our frequent flier in the Trump admiring sock class behaves like a horse's arse.

Is Otter actually claiming that the US media is not free but controlled - except for Faux News I presume?

No, only the liberal media. But in Italy it's so controlled that it's unbelievable that we don't have only one news outlet.

Of course she has no idea of what she's talking about and it's a pity. In Italy libel is a serious crime and you can end up doing time if you are convicted. Btw if you are a journalist and knowingly and demonstrably publish fake news and refuse to back down, well I won't cry for your fate.

And SHOCKER the same can happen in the US I read. Some journalists even did time cos they didn't disclose their sources. But Otter, the defensor of free press, wants to protect classified info right? Leakers should be punished right?

Lots of sarcasm in this post.

You claimed to be an ESL language speaker. So am I. I find it rather easy to find news-outlets that aren't controlled by my home country. So, either our fellow ESL speakers are stupid, or...

My home country has controlled press. I obviously am capable of reading other outlets, but that doesn't negate that the press is controlled in my native country and that nearly all news read about that country is propaganda.  I am assuming you are from a country where human rights are largely respected.

Libel is bad, right? I absolutely never said "only the liberal media"  I have been defending Free Press in the United States. From all outlets, but pointing out that all are partisan.

Is it North Korea? You'd be surprised by what @samurai_sarah knows about Korea.

So when you condemn leaks of classified material you include leaks that were prosecuted by the Obama administration?

Just want to remind you, that you are so partisan you won't even say mocking a war hero is bad. You don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to grouching about people being partisan. At least most of us are willing to criticize Obama when it he needed criticism. You aren't willing to do that with Trump.

Just got back from a run, but LOL forever that she’s telling a thread full of Europeans how their press isn’t free but won’t explain how she knows that.

I shared links above. There are non-EU countries within the EU Europe that have larger issues than Italy.

Otter, are you worried about how Trump has attacked free press in America?

I already pointed that out. No actual answer was provided.

Kind of like how she was super-duper concerned about the treatment of military and veterans right up until Trump was brought up and then she wasn't concerned anymore? Free Press is something to be up in arms about right up until she is asked to discuss Trump's attack on free press. Then she no longer cares. Which is makes it clear she doesn't truly value the military, veterans or free press. If she did, she wouldn't twist herself into knots coming up with excuses on why she won't say a word against Trump.

Yes you linked to Wikipedia. But can't be bothered to spell out what the issues are with Italian press. Probably because while I read American media and know what I am talking about, you don't read Italian media and have no idea what the issues are (btw I never said there aren't issues, because there are).

Here is a novel idea, why don't you try using your own words backed up by links. Explain exactly what your issue with the Italian press complete with links that you don't just drop in the post, but that you summarize or pull out the quotes that you think back up your point?

Then if you read sources better than Wikipedia you should know what the issues are. But you don't. Because the only reason you brought up "but Italy..." is to deflect. You remembered you read somewhere that Italian press isn't great and thought to use that as a deflection tactic since I am Italian. Great, it would have worked if you only had known what you were talking about.

Well @laPapessaGiovanna, you should rest well knowing that one of her links(which I'm guessing she found by looking at the wiki page) says this:

Quote

Italy’s media environment remained relatively open and vibrant in 2016

The funny thing is that I do have issues with Italian press and right this evening I watched something on tv news that made me scream bloody murder. But what sort of informed discussion can you have with someone who doesn't even bother to read the links she herself provided?

I read it, I felt you and others could form your own opinions without the influence from the poster you hate and believe is another poster (or multiple?)

I was also clear that Italy isn't the worst, but given your comments, I was pointing out that you seem to have a differing attitude and wondered if it was due to being where you are from. Journalists ending up in prison isn't typically something that makes me feel like there is a reasonable freedom of press.

Oh but I thought press in the US was so free! And yet some journalist ended up doing prison time.

:pb_lol: this is the most stupid excuse I ever read. As if an uninformed otter with a porn star socks from the other part of the world would influence what I think of my country media!
