Does anyone remember back when the first scandal dropped, the owner of the Moonlight Bunny Ranch brothel issued a statement banning Josh from his establishment? He said that since there are so many Duggar girls, there is a chance one of them might end up working there, and he needed to protect his employees from molesters, therefore Joshie is banned.

At first I thought it was just the owner trying to get some publicity from events that had nothing to do with him. He's a first class jackass, IMO, so I wouldn't put that past him at all. But the general consensus in FJ is that it is entirely plausible that Josh paid for sex some time(s), so why not from the Bunny Ranch? I don't think the owner would ever actually say that Josh has been there, as he would surely want his other clients to be assured of their privacy - outing Josh outright might lead his clients to question his discretion. But maybe Josh had been there in the past and was being made aware he was no longer welcome?

What do you think? Am I just getting carried away, or is this an actual possibility? Has Josh ever even been in/around Carson City at all?

At rehab facilities, I think they ban things like mouthwash, cough medicine, etc., or anything that might have alcohol in it to aid in recovery. How are they going to remove the women for Josh?

By the way, I think many of Josh's problems are due to the way he was brought up in a such a sexually repressed environment. Since masturbation is considered a sin in their religion, he had no outlet to relieve his pent up sexual urges. It's ridiculous that anyone thinks this type of Christian based rehab is going to help him since it was the Fundie Christian values that made him like this in the first place.

As the old saying goes, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.

Thanks all for the good wedding wishes! It's tiny so the planning hasn't been too stressful, but it still seems to take a lot of of time and effort to think through everything and pull it together. My fiance's family gets in on Wednesday, so that probably doesn't leave enough time to pull together a massive database of quotes, but I am DYING of curiosity about this and it's so tempting. :D

I agree with you 100%. Making a statement about girls (many of which are still small children) becoming prostitutes is a special kind of messed up. That man (Dennis, I believe is name is - the owner) is a disgusting pig, IMO. But making such a statement regarding Josh is what I find so strange. I'm sure they don't do background checks on each of their clients, so why make a big deal about Josh when there are tens of thousands of sex offenders (among other potentially violent criminals) out there who could walk in the doors at any moment?

Again, he could easily just be capitalizing on what he sees as an opportunity for some easy publicity for his brothel. But it seemed such a STRANGE thing to say when he said it a couple months ago, and now that we know Joshiepoo has more skeletons in his closet than he let on at that time, I'm just wondering if maybe there isn't more to it. :think:

I'm reading on People that Anna's father is blowing off Josh's affairs saying "Well, King David had an affair". I don't understand his not being angry and outraged. The response doesn't sound plausible. Wondering if it's not someone is not lying about his statement to perhaps make him look bad.....maybe one of his other kids that have fallen away from their religion. I really don't know what to make of this.

The article also talks more about how Anna had very little conception of Josh's molestations before the marriage. She was told, but didn't really comprehend the full extent of it. That would better explain her eagerness to marry him. They put one over on her, taking advantage of her ignorance.

I think it is free advertising or his businesses. He shouldn't have brought the underage into it. The only way I could Josh getting out to a Nevada brothel is by private plane. I think it more likely he stuck to locals.

No, what I said was that the men are so null and void to the abuse of children and the abuse of women. I said that IF something like that happened to men (maybe to be abused themselves in a disgusting way) that it would make them understand that abuse and sexual abuse of children is not something to take so lightly and sweep under the rug. If they were to know how it feels, they would stop doing it and realize how sick this is for people who call themselves Christians.

I'm finding this whole situation very distressing.

My SO asked me why, the other night: it isn't as if I know any of these people, after all, and I haven't had anything to do with the church I was raised in since I was a teenager.

I thought about it for a while and reached this conclusion: Anna Duggar represents my worst-case scenario. When I gathered my resources to leave, I was lucky. Unencumbered with children, fortunate enough to have a college degree -- from a fundie lite school, yes, but at least it was accredited, so I could make the leap to grad school and an assistantship -- grandparents who were emotionally supportive and who would slip me a twenty for gas every now and again. And I am the only child my parents could have (though they wanted six or more) so I had no younger siblings who depended on me for help.

I would like to say that I can't imagine being Anna Duggar right now, but I really can. She's me, just not as fortunate. Every little comparative edge I got that helped me collect myself and pull the suitcase from under the bed is a micro-privilege she has been denied. Thinking about her current situation is unbelievably triggering for me, because when I have nightmares they start out exactly where she is: trapped in a house with no doors.

I've read a lot of "run, girl!" advice over the past week or so, and to me it's just as upsetting as the "stand by your man" faction. I can't imagine trying to put four babies in the car with Jim Bob Duggar looming over me and wrestling for my keys. I can't imagine that she has twenty dollars for gas in her wallet right now. And I can't think of a solution. So I'm just really, really sad for her.
