I didn't last that long on the sermon. Is this something Scott Brown said? Wow. It's amazing how this description could so easily be used on his own son-in-law, Peter Bradrick. Peter Bradrick and Doug Phillips are cut of the same cloth. I'm sure that scares the shit out of Scott.

It is fascinating watching this empire crumble! I am pretty much convinced the affair and other "sins" are connected. If money is involved it wouldn't be the first time a leader has used other people's money to fund his affair (with trips, gifts, hotel rooms, meals, etc.) or try to cover it up by paying off the other woman or any other people who may be aware. I can't wait to see how Vision Forum followers react to the closing as well as how long the business half stays open.

Now that I've had a few minutes to digest this, I find it interesting that the original announcement was made on media-dump Friday afternoon, and this announcement follows on a Federal holiday.

On Doug's blog he says that he is going to remain owner of Vision Forum, Inc. but since he wants to lead a "quite life serving as a foot soldier" he won't be speaking or running any conferences. I don't think VF will last long at all.

Foot soldier for what? He's torched his ministry and destroyed his reputation. His former associates are either hiding or fleeing as if he has serious apostate cooties. Is he planning on dressing in sackcloth and ashes (ooooooh, costumes!) and dragging a giant crucifix around the country, proclaiming that God has forgiven him for his sin(s)?

Doug Phillips is not just a tool--he's toast. He's been tossed under a whole caravan of buses.

Wow, I need to go back and listen to the rest. But if that's what he said, he really threw Dougie under the bus. Not that Dougie didn't deserve it, of course. But it again puts Petey Bradrick right in the line of fire because he was running around with Dougie on his hazardous journeys like the sycophant that he is, and he's continued to posture himself as the same manly man Dougie is. No wonder he hasn't said anything, but he needs to.

This entire situation is sickening.

Doug (I know you read here, you're far too self absorbed not to.),

Your actions, whatever they may be, have resulted in the destruction of your wife and children's peace and security. They're forever tainted by the scandal you created. In the culture you engineered, they wear the scarlet letter.

Your actions are the reason why many families are looking at potential financial ruin. The closing of this ministry is going to create so many lost jobs. Jobs that were the sole source of income for these families. There's no buffer. In this culture you engineered, women can't work, college is out of the question (never mind your fancy law degree, or your wife's degree for that matter), and receiving government aid would be acquiescing to socialism. There is no safety net for these families in your world, and they're so sheltered and uneducated as to be unemployable in the real world. You made them that way.

Your actions are the reason why many of your followers are having a tremendous crisis of faith. They're now forced to question whether they were worshiping Christ all along, or just worshiping Doug. Many will lose their faith all together, because your version of Christianity is the only one they've ever known.

The most disturbing thing about all of this is that you really couldn't care less. Your lifestyle won't change all that much, the income from VF was merely a pittance in your world. I"m also certain, that like a dog to its vomit, you won't be able to stay away long. You can't help yourself. You need attention and accolades like the rest of us need air. Right now, I"m sure the only thing upsetting you is that people are saying bad things about poor Douggie. This is all so inconvenient for you, isn't it?
