Lawson sounds like a church singer most of the congregation enjoys. But at the same time, some big music stars really can't sing that well.

I don't want to look like a troll, it's just that lawson sings like anyone without special talent for music and he doesn't sound very good.

I get a little pity his obsession with music because he loves it and I like to see some of these guys with illusion and passion for something, no matter how much he likes it himself.

He really doesn't sing in a way that stands out. He is a good church singer, but those are a dime a dozen.  He isn't bad, but if he wants to make it he will have to get some serious training, or be Taylor Swift who can't sing(sorry, guys, I think she sounds awful live) but still made it big.

Lawson has passion for being a star. Even back before reality tv fame when he was working hard supporting his siblings he had eyes on being a Christian movie star. That was his huge passion for a long time. That is why they bought one of those horses, so he could use it as a prop in the movies he was making. He had a building, outfits and at one point Gil and Kelly took him to visit a Christian movie maker.

Dumb selfies is literally what kids do these days. It can seem a bit excessive to me at times, but I'm also 30 years old and more than a decade older than them. I'm sure 30 year olds thought the things I did when I was 19 were a bit dumb and excessive.

At least around me I see more 30 year-olds doing selfies then teens these days

I was at the Kennedy Center this weekend to see a performance of the National Symphony Orchestra. A man and a woman who were both easily in their 50s almost knocked me over while they were preening for selfies with several sculptures. Age doesn't always bring sense.

My parents love making selfies. Well, actually its my mum who really loves it and her husband is sweet enough to smile for the camera. Mother always tries to get the dogs look into the camera too and you can often see her with our little dog in her arms so he doesn't miss out on the photo. I think it is kind of cute.

I'm 50 and will admit to doing selfies a couple of times a week (I've been doing a photo 365 app for a year so will do a selfie with friends/my family/my nieces/my dog as my photo of the day).  I rarely post them though, and I never make those stupid pouty faces.

... I do selfies almost everyday...

In my defense though, I want my daughter to have photos with me in it to look back on one day. And because husband loves getting pictures of us and the dog to look at when he's at work. He really liked that during Tax Season because the baby wasn't always awake when he left or returned home - so it was a nice way for him to see her awake and see that she was doing ok.

At home I'll set up my phone to take a photo on a timer, so I get some nice candids that way (reading a story or rocking her are my favorite times to do that.) Other times husband will take a picture of me and the baby. But if we're out and about without him I can't do that. I'll just find a quiet area, take some quick, and then pick the best one.

If I have gone through the effort to make myself look good, then I am going to take a selfie. :P

I send my husband selfies during the day too. I love selfies because I am actually in the photos with my kids. It really hit me with my last baby that I had so many sweet pictures of us together while she was tiny, just nursing or snuggling. I don't have photos like that with my other kids because I didn't have an iPhone then so there was no one to snap pics of us in the middle of the night or whatnot.

Exactly! I did a ton of reading before she was born and one of the biggest things I took away is that I need to be proactive in making sure I'm in photos too as she grows up. I don't want her looking through her album when I eventually die and feeling sad because there aren't many with me in them. My IPhone has been fantastic for making that happen.

I took selfies pretty much every time I woke up in the middle of the night to feed her those first few weeks. I only kept the very best ones - the ones with the clearest quality, best views of our faces, and the most natural emotions present on our faces. I have some really beautiful pictures of us in her album now thanks to that.

I only do selfies when I'm either drunk or think I look cute, but reading about selfies with your children is not only adorable but makes prefect sense! Especially while they're growing up.

I made a Mother's Day card for my mum, with a collage of photos of just the two of us.  There's so few photos :( .  I've got lots of just me, but I'm one of 4, and photos with mum tended to have a few of us kids in them.  Honestly, I've only got about 3 of just her and I as a child, and not that many more of us as adults.  I'm trying to rectify that now.

Growing up, my dad took all the photos, so there's even less of he and I.  The earliest one is when I'm about 15.

Take all the photos you want.  Take more than you possibly think you'll ever want.  Take selfies.  Stick the camera on the table and do group shots.  Ask someone to take them for you.  Save them carefully, back them up.  We never get these moments again.  We are so fortunate in this digital age that it's next to free to take photos.

Dear FJers.  Remember to back up your photos, and not just on facebook, but ideally print them, so people can look at them together into the future.

This is a public information service, brought to you on behalf of my next door neighbours, who were burgled (on Xmas Eve!) and had their camera and laptop stolen, which had pretty much all their photos of the first 6 months of their son's life.

I already have my daughter's album and baby book started. It was one of those things I was really excited about while pregnant and I'm happy I get to put those together for her now.

I had a patient pass away after many years long battle with dementia.  She looked very peaceful.  While alive she always looked worried. (Family well known to me).

One of her daughters said she wanted to take a photo, and was that morbid?

I responded with ' leave with no regrets', and the photos were taken.

I think the comfort the daughter got from seeing Mum so peaceful after such a long battle, was priceless.

@Lurky my friend got a virus in an email which encrypted her external hard drive.  She lost ALL of her digital photos going back nearly 20 years.  Back up early, back up often.  I have a hard drive stored at my parents apartment which I update every year, in addition to my own hard drive.  Plus a big thumb drive.  I'm not obsessive at all ;)

Isn't there a genealogy website that exists solely so folks can back up family photos? IIRC there are two kinds of membership - one type, you just store your photos, and the other one, you can allow other family members access to a copy too.

@VelociRapture I filled out a five year baby book for both of my kids.  It's lovely to look back at them.  Plus it was a handy reference material when new specialists were assessing my son over the years as you do forget milestones.  My daughter will be 21 this year and I'm working in a photo book for her which will also have scans of her drawings, writing etc.  I'm enjoying doing it; she was so cute!

Yes, it's Ancestry. I've had a U. S. subscription for several years. There are different types of memberships. Here's the link: http://www.ancestry.com

Yes. I agree. What drives me nuts is that the fans automatically "ship" them.
