I’m guessing it will be something along the lines of Sarah’s wedding. Teri will write about it after the fact in her Mom’s Corner, and that’s probably it for the Maxwells.

But Sam and his family have a presence on FB, so maybe we’ll get something from them. And I think ABC announces Summer weddings on their web site the following Fall.

Where did some people find those pictures of Sarah’s wedding right after it took place?  Was it on Chelsea’s blog?

A lovely photo of Sarah on Trinity Baptist's facebook page, advertising their mid week service. Marriage obviously agrees with her

El Reno is 380 miles - over a 5-hour drive - from Leavenworth. This and Sarah’s easy, genuine smile bring me such joy this evening.

Slightly OT:

Sarah is wearing make-up! eye-catching earrings!! an open neck plaid shirt with eye-trap buttons!!! and she looks so so so happy!!!!

Oh be still my heart. This makes me so happy.  This is the Sarah that was there inside all the time.  This is the Sarah Stevehovah suppressed/ repressed for years. No more forced sad smile.

Suck it Stevehovah -- Take a moment and compare this photo to the ones from a few years ago. You worked so hard to make your daughter less than she could be. But she's free now.  And she did it herself.  You failed Stevehovah. You failed to permanently stifle her life. You. Failed.

Go Sarah. FJ is so happy  for and proud of you.

Quote

[@Alisamer] I've seen far too many exterior photos where the realtor clearly leaned out (or shot through) their car window while driving by.

Then there's the time where neighboring house for sale had nice drone shots included in their Zillow listing but all I could see was how terrible the back of *our* house looked! 😬

I just think Sarah looks more relaxed. And so do her two sisters. You know how everyone points out the forced smiles of the oldest Rod girls? They are these huge anxious over smiles. I feel like that sort of thing used to happen a lot on the Maxwell blog. So many forced smiles. And nowadays it just seems like there are less forced smiles and more genuine smiles from the max ladies.

I wonder how much the blog closure helped contribute to their new relaxed faces. Before, every single picture we saw was taken for the purpose of a blog in post. It was rarely candid and I imagine having to constantly pose for a blog got really old. They no longer have the weight of trying to make tedious tasks seem interesting and pose while doing them. This has to be a huge relief. Now we get candid shots of them doing things they actually enjoy. They aren’t trying to portray anything- they are being themselves.

Someone else looks like he’s looking at his watch. Perhaps those in front are actually running and the ones behind them, including Anna and Mary, are timing them? I’m only guessing though.

Anna and Mary are outside exercising
    (not in the basement).
In jogging pants
    (not ankle length denim skirts).
In t-shirts
(not buttoned to the neck long sleeves).
With men
    (they aren't related to).

Oh how things have changed
    (for the much much better).

Yay!!!! Go Anna!! Go Mary!!
    (Cry more Stevehovah).

The dude in the back is almost certainly starting his running watch to track his own time, not anyone else's. Anna may be starting some similar app on her phone, or hey, maybe just a funny text came in.

Whichever, it's great to see them out and exercising in mixed company, having a life independent of their repressive parents.

I was waiting at the bus stop for the ISB that runs past the Rod forum and saw the Maxwell bus pull in. So I'm wondering whether Mary and Sam will tie the knot in Leavenworth or at the ABC chapel.  Certainly they have more friends at ABC.  OTOH, ABC classes end in early May so not many of those friends would still be on campus.

If I was Mary, I would get married in Kansas at the church that started her freedom journey.

According their Knot website, the wedding will be in Leavenworth. In addition to a list of area hotels, they say this: "We have a large and hospitable church family. Please contact me (XXX-XXX-XXXX) if you would like to stay in a home."

As with Sarah's and Kory's wedding, it sounds like their church is rallying around them which is nice.

Anna looks serious and ready to start and Mary’s on her phone. Kinda funny.

I wonder if Mary has some sort of timing/gps/pacing ap on her phone that she was trying to start. Also, they are some the only females in the pic working out with a bunch of males (maybe one more girl) go ladies go!

Even Steve must be secretly pleased they are wearing pants in case they slip over on the muddy track in front of all those men!

The most ridiculous fundie athletic outfits are athletic pants with a skirt over them. The skirt is pointless. Or a skirt over ski pants. So dumb.

I saw some fundies running a 5K I was in years ago. The girl looked like she could be a decent runner, but was definitely held back by the fact that she was running in a long denim skirt (because modesty) and cheap tennis shoes (because, presumably, her family can't afford proper footwear.) It honestly made me sad for her.

Registry features wall art that IS NOT moralistic mottos as well as … meditation pillows!  Oh, Stevie —- !!!! :D

My opinion on how performative modesty sucks was set in stone when I read about a skier from a country ruled by theocrats.  She was in a high-level competition but couldn’t possibly win because she had to wear a boxy coat that covered her nearly to her knees. How to control women? Physically restrict ‘em.

Their registry is very small and it states that they prefer cash gifts. Based on that, I can already see their future plans. They will live in couples student housing her last year of college. That comes with some basic furniture I think. So they probably don’t need to register for a lot since they will be in on campus housing. Then after she graduates, they will likely be missionaries. And as we all know, they can’t take a lot with them on the mission field. But they always need money.

I think they get married in Kansas, because it's traditional to marry in the bride's hometown and Grandma Gigi is there. Even if she doesn't come to the wedding, they can visit her the day of the wedding. Gigi may not be able to travel much.

I think they said they would enter the mission field after 3 years of marriage. I wonder where they’ll live until then?

Maybe they’ll continue at ABC as graduate students?

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑
