Years ago I read an exposé on Opus Dei -- this does not surprise me one bit.  Also, if family with 10 kids is wealthy and influential, all the better in the eyes of Opus Dei.  

I'm especially interested in Opus Dei these days because I sense they may be extremely influential in the in the upper echelons of government in the current political climate. However, they are extremely secretive about who is a member, so one hears very little about them.

I thought most of Trump's inner circle was protestant evangelical but apparently not.

There are numerous scarily conservative Catholics in the Trump admin, and as we know, they can be as whacky and out there as the worst of the fundy crowd, but with similar agendas.

I checked out Dad's live on Paul's birthday, which took place with the Fam in the living room, but didn't catch any mention of it.  I may have missed it, but more likely they retreated to the master bedroom for the ceremonies after the live.  They haven't been sharing festivities with us in recent years.  Maybe one of the more hip manboys clued in Mom and Dad that the rest of the world thinks it's weird for middle aged people to be served birthday cake on their parents' bed.

I guess better they don't procreate and spread their message to the next generation.

There’s officially been some relationship movement in Arndt land! Luke appears to have a girlfriend...I’ve watched on/off Rick’s videos and often I would see a girl around Luke. In today’s video, they definitely hold hands, and later on he puts his arm around her lower back while they sit on the couch. I’m surprised tbh that Rick keeps the camera on them for as long as he does. 

2020 has been some year...and as I know we have discussed here before, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time for the other guys, if things haven’t happened already and are just behind the scenes.

Finally! If this turns into a wedding, I think there will be more in the next few years. My theory was always that once the floodgates were opened with one marriage, others would follow. And of course its Luke. He would have been my guess as to the first. Because he’s so outgoing and good looking.

I really do think the guys have dated a little more than most of us think. Maybe not many of them, but someone like Luke for sure (a guy who looks like he does, well there’s just way he’s not getting approached constantly at weddings...).

But who IS she? Does she like penguins? If they get married, will she have enough bridesmaids for the groomsmen? She doesn’t look thrilled in that pic.

Wow ? ??? this is MAJOR. 2020 keeps throwing curveballs. I could actually get behind this change as opposed to the other nonsense this year has wrought.

No one could convince me earlier in the thread that Luke has never gone on at least one date. Look at the man. Good Christian girls probably threw themselves at him.

The video was basically like a home church meeting. There was some music played at times and when the picture was taken, they were listening to religious talk. Most “church faces” look like that.

She looks a lot younger than Luke doesn't she? Hard to tell from just a screenshot. I wonder if she's considered "chewed gum" in their theological circle and this is her one chance for a headship.

I suspect there have been lots of short-term relationships for the Arndt boys/men but the women have all backed away when they realized just how weird and enmeshed the family is. Cathy could come across as the MIL-from-hell.

Some thoughts:

Regarding the gf...I don’t think she wants to be on camera (maybe a bit shy or uncomfortable) and tbh I would look the same if not worse if the camera was on me like that.

I do wonder how this gal will feel about living on Arndt land and basically being brought into the fold. To quote The Mandalorian “it is the way.”

It seems at this point what would be even bigger news, is which Arndt(s), if any, will move off compound. Or which, if any, end up working at a job that isn’t a family affair. And to the David turning 18 thing, I do seriously wonder if most of the older boys were so wrapped up in caring for and entertaining the under age (at the time) siblings that the oldest basically let their entire 20’s years of dating pass them by.
