I liked them (compared to other Duggar couples) because they seem to really love each other and kept the hate private, but that will likely disappear quickly...

I have 1 eye smaller than the other as well, it is genetic, my son and one of my nieces has it as well. Mine & my nieces are much more noticeable than my sons but no one has ever said anything to me about it, online or in person.

So does anyone else besides me wonder if they wanted to get the account or if they were "strongly encouraged" to sign up for Instagram by either TLC or Jim Bob and Michelle in order to continue to build the Duggar brand.

Interesting that they went with that name, breaks the pattern of what the other Duggar couples have been doing. 

I agree that this is a sign they’re probably going to announce Baby Duggar 2.

I appreciated that they kept off social media but now that they have Instagram it at least makes them a little more interesting. The show really gives us nothing to talk about with these people except re-enacted scenes with stunted dialogue regarding events that took place over six months ago.

Garrett is adorable, some of the comments on both their post and Jill's were uncalled for, we cannot and should not speculate on a baby's health based on one picture. I hope that doesn’t put them off posting.

Listen, people's bodies are weird AF. All of us. You just don't notice things because you're not putting yourself out their for scrutiny to hundreds of thousands of people. I think most babies look fairly odd in some way or another before they grow into their features! 

I host a cable access television show each month related to my work. Last December I was doing a campaign to raise money for our endowment and I decided to post an awkward screenshot of myself from the youtube vids of my show each day until I hit my goal. As I was pausing and trying to find awkward screen grabs, I discovered that my eyelids don't close exactly simultaneously because my eyes are different sizes.

Good question. Honestly, I've wondered myself why any of them enjoy having social media. If I posted a picture I thought was cute of my baby and 100 internet strangers immediately launched into an argument over what sort of genetic disorders he might have, I think I would be instantly funned out.

OK, I’m going to share a likely unpopular opinion/ question, and this does come from a person who worked in the Nicu for 35 years, so I’ve seen it all, but I wonder who decided that was the best photo to share?

I’m  often cuaght between wondering if the Duggars et al. are really naive or the worst attention seekers on the planet. If it’s the later, in this case, it worked.

So I got a penalty for saying people are being mean and speculating on instagram.I literally had to google the terms. I always read that here when Alyssa bates daughter was commented on insta.. That said  I really love babies and Joe and kendra are the mildest duggars. Anyways all the instagram accounts welcoming them with a pic have people giving their opinions. So Jinger, Siren, Jill, Anna aanounced with the photo. and Jana and Joy via a instastory. Only Jessa did not announce and I believe Jessa would have shut the comments!

I keep wanting to believe that Kendra and Joe are aware of the fact that their ship name is JoKen, and that they will troll us by announcing "We're Expecting! Not Joken."

But seriously though. Outside of newborn photos we've seen what? a grand total of three photos of Garrett? Not really enough for people to start armchair diagnosing from one photo.

Maybe Joe and Kendra will be taken aback and slink away from social media and thus remain in our good, wilfully blind graces.

Joe and Kendra had a hospital birth and I'm sure they are also taking him to regular appointments and if they had any concerns then they would raise the issue with their doctor. 

Even if I was genuinely concerned for the health of a child, I would not post a comment publicily on Social media, I would private mail the person if I knew them.

I know that these two have the same crappy beliefs and opinons as the rest of the crew, but they seem to be a genuinely happy young couple that are actually well matched. And more low key than some of his siblings, even though I might have to get back to you on that, now that they have their own instagram account….

He's absolutely adorable, and despite their toxic beliefs - they're a cute family. If I have to "root" for any of the Duggars, it's these two. Joe and Kendra have always struck me as two who are sincerely in love, and tend to mind their own business. I'm sure in time they'll prove me wrong, but for now I'd like to think that they're more quiet because they don't necessarily agree with all of the Duggar core beliefs. 

As for Garrett... my niece has a genetic disorder, and it's a horribly sensitive thing. Even though my sister is aware of it, if someone was to comment on her social media about my niece's appearance, my sister would probably close her account. If there is an issue, then I'm sure Kendra and Joe are aware of it, and the last thing they need is people speculating on it.

I think Joe has a sweet, gentle spirit that is refreshing to see in a fundie male. I also think Joe believes the best about those around him. So unfortunately, I see him being shaped heavily by his father and father-in-law  because he sincerely believes they are godly men, husbands, and fathers.
