NAILED IT!

Now that is what it's supposed to look like (stares longingly at soup).

I have two friends who lost their beautiful children to suicide. I cannot fathom the pain they must feel every day. These two souls couldn't see out of the dark clouds they were under. Two bright, beautiful young men with their lives ahead of them couldn't see any other way out.

Is that the unpardonable sin? I don't think so. I believe in a God of mercy and love...He knew these two young men were hurting and in his infinite mercy and grace accepted them into his arms.

I believe in a God of mercy, love and grace. I would not presume to speak for him, as I believe he is far wiser than I will ever be...and he is able to forgive and love more than I ever could.

I don't think it's an unpardonable sin.  I think it's terribly sad and an illness.  I remember a friend's father committing suicide when I was a kid. It was simply not spoken of. His dad was there one day and then the next day he wasn't, I remember a lot of adults shushing each other if a kid was in hearing distance.  At the time, I didn't understand it.  As an adult, I find is very sad.

I loved the way it worked up.  I'm a super lazy crocheter.  I generally user variegated because I hate having to switch out yarn and haven't those stupid tails to tuck in at the end.   It feels really different than most yarn I've used before.

I've never made a shawl before, but I've been thinking about making one for myself.

Have you seen the "It's a wrap" yarn?  It's more like thread, IMO, but the colors are beautiful.  It's like $12 a skein though and I hate the thought of buying a skein that expensive and finding out I can't work with it.   I might wait until I have a 50% off coupon and buy a skein to try out.

I need to look for shawl patterns.  That cupcake yarn I just got a bunch of would be pretty for a shawl I bet.

Here is the hat from the landscapes:

landscapes.yarn.jpg

and he took the pic on the side where the seam is showing :(

I'm not sure about linking to a pattern, so I'm not going to.  But you might want to look up Double Hug Shawl pattern.  It's a triangle shawl, fairly easy to make and I've made several with different yarns.  It's a good basic style to learn with.

That cap is beautiful.

See, now I really regret not eating dinner. @Koala that Pinterest chicken pot pie soup looks soooo good, and I blame you for the entire packet of M&Ms I'm going to eat now at this wholly inappropriate snacking time of ten to two in the morning :P

(Lori's looks like a bowl of snot and grass. It might taste good maybe but it's just not doing it for good old me, who likes her food porn to have a few more colours in it than beige and sickly green.)

I want everyone to do me a favor...stay with me here...

I want everyone to find someone to give you a big squeezy hug...close your eyes and imagine that my short, chubby self is giving it to you...OK? Hugs are medicinal...and you can't overdose on them.

I saw that on her IG- I was so tempted to ask if there were potatoes in it. I know she probably wouldn’t get it but I seriously would have gotten a chuckle out of it.

I have never heard of blending the skin to put back in the soup.

I worked late tonight and still managed to fix a meal for the family- Greek spice rubbed chicken breast and steamed corn. I only ate my portion. But there’s a pint of talenti almond butter honey ice cream in the freezer and I will likely have my portion and then some.

I think that is such a nice thing!

Dinner at the Briefly house was easy tonight. I had to run the Briefly dog to the vet and then after I dropped her back off at home with Mr. Briefly, I ran to the grocery store for a couple of things and we split a foot long sub sandwich from the store's deli. I normally cook, and I like to make soup.  But I have no desire to use the chicken skin in soup!  The greasiness would be out of control.

I mean, what a perfect contrast to Lori, right here. Fuck Lori.

People aren't awake here so I grabbed my cat instead, He didn't appreciate it, but I felt the love.

My tall also chubby self returns the hug, I also just want to thank you for, I guess just being yourself. Somehow I've developed a knack for being able to tell when a post is yours without looking at the name and when I check and I'm right (like 99% of the time) it always makes me grin.

Your no-nonsense attitude, truly remarkable ability to just keep on going no matter what, and seemingly limitless bounds for compassion really do inspire me. aaah I hope this isn't weird. I just think you're pretty fucking cool and I wish I had someone like you in my real, not internet life, to just talk about all kinds of crap with.

You're the kind of Christian that makes me want to believe in God, and I'm rooting for you with all your upcoming things!

Well I spent the hot humid evening in the garden. injecting all my squash & zuchinni with BT because the vine borers are killing them. Tears were shed. We have so many bugs here, with so many life cycles in our long growing season. I did get my basil harvested, a batch of pesto made and a dehydrator full of basil done. When I came in Mr. EW was making dinner, bless him. scrambled eggs, pesto and alfalfa sprouts with a leftover pork rib from last night. I told him to eat the dinner leftovers from last night and I'd eat yogurt for dinner, but that idea was unacceptable to him, so he's at the stove as I type. Love him.

You can DM me anytime...we'll grab coffee or the beverage of your choice and carry on that way.

And, no I don't think it's weird...y'all are ALL my tribe...and y'all put up with me...what more could a girl ask for?

Hey, don't be surprised if I ask to take you up on that offer sometime. I'm looking to travel after I finish uni in a couple of years and Vegas has been on my list for a few years!

I think I know how you feel. I can say things here I can't admit to irl and even though we're all presenting as pictures and screen names, it does feel good to know that there are real people behind the screens and words who are genuinely rooting for each other. I'm glad my weird ass obsessions led me here. I'm really happy in this company, even if the trolls make me feel a bit stabby sometimes.

So, my kids love to play with buckets outside. They fill them with water for their squirt guns, put rocks and sand in them, use them as drums. You know, all that fun kid stuff. Well, Lori's soup looks like what happens when they leave water in a bucket. It gets full of lawn clippings, algae, dirt, and the occasional frog. I would not be surprised to find a tadpole swimming around in that slop Lori calls chicken pot pie soup.

Update: it is now half three in the morning and I have consumed the entire bag of M&Ms I said I would. Thanks, again, @Koala.

I'm also still craving pie.

Fuck

YES!!!!! Just don't come in the summer, you'll die. Hopefully by then we'll be living someplace suitable for entertaining.

Years ago back in the days of the old AOL bulletin boards, I joined a group of SAHMs...it was a beautiful support group. Years went by and most of us have stayed in touch (like 25-ish years worth). We would arrange regional get-togethers every few years. When hubs had surgery, one of those women, who had grown to be a dear friend, came and sat with me in the hospital (she lived in the same city). We got on the facebook page we have now and had fun. They all were positive I was nuts...and they were right!!!

Oh, I don't doubt it. We've reached a high this year of only 27 Celsius and I've considered living in my freezer more than once, I have no idea how hot it can get over there, but considering I can burn sitting by an uncovered window on a cloudy day, you may end up meeting someone more lobster than human :D

Today's high temp was 107F or about 41C. It'll get about 10 degrees F hotter over the summer. If you want lovely weather, plan on either late October-November or March-early April. Even then you'll want to bust out the sunscreen, the sun is rather strong this far south in the US.

I'm down for some  @feministxtian love.  Giving and receiving.   You are salt of the Earth good people girl.  I just like you. No games or guessing how you really feel.  Glad you're in my tribe, hope you think of me the same tribe wise.  I find it fascinating and refreshing to get know each other like this on FJ with our shared weird obcession with religion, fundies, truth, snark.  As well as being open to discussion, dirty nasty debate, changing our minds sometimes, compassion and well, being friends.  Sharing our lives with each other in a world that seems to get harsher and harsher.

Shit, too mushy.  How 'bout them Dodgers?  Weather has been nice, finally sunny!  Yeah so, beer and cars and stuff.  I'm watching M.A.S.H. So, yeah.

Joke time:   What's the difference between a snowman and a snowman?

Proud to be in your tribe girl...

Don't know about the Dodgers but I'm depressed over my Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup series...the Caps handed us our asses on silver platters...

We're doing the geek "Drain the Oceans" thing on the Nat Geo channel...y'all know me...geek chick.

What's the difference???

41C?!?

How are you even alive right now? The hottest I've ever experienced the temperature being was 35C a couple of years ago and I remember being barely able to function without a fan on me or an icy drink in hand. Man, that's impressive. During the cooler months it is then.

It's not humid so it's not that bad, especially in the shade. Everything here is air conditioned to Arctic conditions...we keep the house at about 24-26C. We drink A LOT of water...anytime you go anywhere you're carrying at least one bottle of water with you. Its the price we pay for a relatively mild winter. And, if you want to cool off, you can go up into the mountains about 45min northwest of the city. There's a ski resort there.

@Escadora, I watched a show on PBS this evening about pie that followed one on ice cream.  All those pies made me crave pie so bad!

I've really grown to love this community. I love that it goes beyond just talking about Lori. I've seen some real honest discussions and conflict but enjoy how the community comes back together. I'm not always a fan of real hugs but I can give and take virtual hugs all day long so *hugs*.  And seriously, if anyone needs anything my DMs are open. I can't be a counselor because that's illegal lol but I will be a friend.

I have a job interview tomorrow and I got an email back from another to see if I'm interested in starting a background check. I'm also waiting to hear back from my first choice by the end of this week. :ugh: If tomorrow goes well I think I'm gonna bake something. Heck if it doesn't go well I think I 'll probably need to bake something even more. This talk of pie and M&Ms has given me cravings. Plus my period is gonna start so I want all the sweet things... and the salty things, basically just everything....except Lori's soup. Please keep that away from me.

I'm gonna have to make a decision too...and man...I want both jobs!
