Maxhell Part 6 - Boring you to death since...

Has there ever been an explanation why NRAnna wears such different-looking clothing than the rest of the women in the family?  Mary, Anna, Sarah, Elissa - they all go for the "modern-youthful-modest" look.  Their clothes look expensive and well-made.  NRAnna... just the opposite.  

An aside:  John is so good looking.  I rarely check up on the Maxwells, but whenever I do, I'm newly startled by his dreamyness.

NR-Anna wears the frumpers that all the Maxwell females used to wear. They wore matching frumpers, but then I think Stevie finally found FJ and saw what we said about them and then Jesus made a wardrobe commandment that they could modernize.  They finally ditched them several years ago, but NR-Anna still favors them.  And she sews them herself.  

And yep. John is the dreamy Maxwell.  I hope he escapes the compound with a slightly riske non-fundie girl, but it hasn't happened yet...

Oh John is my weakness!!! If I was his neighbour he just wouldn't be safe.  He has a sense of humour too and I have noticed that when they do they're awful gratitude quotes he doesn't go. On and on about God like the others. He is the rebel. God only knows what goes on with him that isn't included in the blogs.@@@!  Yep give me some more John stevie!! Dribble dribble

I do wonder if deep down they wanted to tell Steve off but did not. 

I don't want to focus on death like some people (HI Steve!) but I really hope she leaves her money to the great-grandkids and grandchildren for school, with a stipulation that it's a real school and not some College Minus bullshit.

We made lots of comments on how Steve only seems interested in the grandsons and here we go, lots of pictures of him doing a selfie with the granddaughters, playing with a granddaughter etc. Hi Steve!

In the wayback machine pictures they look so much more alive. Even Chris, currently one of the most dead-eyed of them, looks happy and relaxed in that picture. I guess the soul hadn't been fully drained out of him at that point. I guess the fact that the reversals were still children, plus that they were building a house, has a lot to do with it - they were just a quirky fundy family at that point, busy with family and business. Now their lives are as empty as their eyes and it shows.

They need something to reinvent themselves - something to give meaning to their lives. If Steve keeps on preventing the girls from marrying he should find something else for them to do - start their own charity or something.

He has more life in him than the others. Christopher and Nathan look dead inside. Joseph has always looked like a smug asshole. And Jessie might be nice, but seems to blend into the background. John stands out because he actually looks happy in a good many pictures. He was always the "bad" one and I'm wondering if Steve wasn't able to completely beat the spirit out of him. 

The shirt is getting a bit tight on him, though. Could be just because he is forced to put on layers.

During my trip to the Wayback Machine (specifically the Nathan/Melanie wedding report) I noticed how much John used to look like Jesse. They don't so much any more, although maybe if Jesse wore contacts they might do.

Oh, and someone's posted this in Quiver Full of Snark, but Elizabeth Munck is going to get married.

They were almost indistinguishable when I saw them ... how many years ago, now?.....Abby was a very young preschooler who recited Psalm 23 for the adoring assembly. So, 8? 7?

Anyway, I'm chuckling to remember that when I reported that, several FJ'ers said ohhh, no,  you'd never mistake John for another brother! Well, in photos, that's truer than in real life. Don't think so? There are supermodels who pass unnoticed in person but who are, well, supermodels via the camera. It happens. 

I do remember that John -- I finally knew it was him after he gave his on-stage introduction  -- was having a much better time than anybody else, tuning and re-tuning his guitar/banjo/whatever while Steve was talking; and then it was John who magically produced the missing Bible, the absence of which had thrown Steve into an absolute tizzy.

So, I saw in another thread that Elizabeth Munck is engaged to be married.  I took a peek at the wedding registry, and the first thought I had when I saw the pizza cutter was "Oh noes!  How will Elizabeth ever learn the important use of the pizza cutter for slicing lettuce!"  Then, I remembered that if she had it in her to escape Maxhell by not going through with marrying Joseph, she's probably capable of figuring out that one on her own.

This reminds me very much of my parents' wedding picture. My parents were married in1976. I'm guessing Teri and Steve were married close to 76.

Why can't John Maxwell and Jana Duggar run away together away from their controlling asshat fathers? They would make the cutest couple ever. And then Jana could introduce Sarah to JD and they can run away too, lol.

I had mentain in an another thread that I use to be obsessed with looking at the Osmond family website.  Many of the brothers married in the 1970's this picture looks like them also.

Is it just me or has Sarah been seen in the blog pictures a lot more lately? It all started with that cute selfie ("yours truly" - did she wear mascara there???), and since then we have seen her more than in the last year combined. And not just that, but at least to me she has looked genuinely happy. I can't help but wish she has someone special in her mind and therefore posts more of herself for that person to see. As much as I wish no fundie marries and procreates and continues with their awful legacy, I gotta admit I hope Sarah finds her true love and gets to live her own life outside the compound. She's the exception that proves the rule for me.
